I have been buying and wearing Crazy Shirts for 35 years, since first buying one in Vail, CO. In that time, we've been to stores in CA, NV & almost every Hawaiian island. This Crazy Shirts store in Ala Moana Center used to be on the 2nd floor but moved up to the 3rd. They have really cool designs and artwork in funky dyed colors. Some dyes used are volcanic rock, blue hawaiian, beer, coffee, grape & pineapple to name a few. The advantage of that is if you get any of those foods on you, the stain won't show! Most of their shirts are heavy weight cotton and will last a lifetime, so the premium price (avg $44-$50) is worth it. read more

Shopping at Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii... My friend and I received Crazy Shirts as gifts from our former co-worker. We didn't really care for the designs and colors of our t-shirts and decided to see if we could exchange them. There are many locations of Crazy Shirts on the Island of O'ahu. There are several stores in Waikiki... And there are shops at Pearlridge Mall, Ko'Olina, and Kailua, as well as on the neighbor islands of Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island of Hawai'i. We chose the most convenient location for us - at Ala Moana Center, on the third level, by Neiman-Marcus. There's free parking at the mall and we had the pleasure of interacting with the nicest staff: Tina. She was so helpful and understanding. We showed her our gifts and pointed out the attached tags. She looked up the merchandise in their system and found out that our friend had indeed purchased the shirts from the Crazy Shirts Outlet at Ward Village. I knew exactly where that store was because I had been there in the past. They have great deals on discontinued prints, flawed items, and vintage stock. Instinctively, I had originally guessed that the gifts had been purchased at the outlet because Crazy Shirts produces a high quality product. The fabric is thicker and sturdier than the material used for other t-shirts. Crazy Shirts last for a long time. The designs are unique, local, and creative. The pricing reflects the superb product. Being practical, I felt that our friend would have gotten our gifts at a more reasonable price - like at the Crazy Shirts Outlet at Ward Centre. For example, we looked at a regularly priced t-shirt that was $51.00. I just cannot see myself wearing something like that. Sorry. I'm aware of the rent at the Mall and I have high esteem for this brand, but I prefer the prices at the outlet. My sister gifted me a Crazy Shirt for my birthday, and although I loved the design, the shirt was a little too small for me, so I had to go to Crazy Shirts to exchange the shirt from a Mens Large, to a Mens Extra Large. Packed up my t-shirt, and headed on down to the Ala Moana Shopping Center to go to Crazy Shirts to exchange my t-shirt. Unfortunately when I got to Crazy Shirts, there was a slight wait, as there was only one clerk working the floor, and since other folks were asking questions, or buying some shirts, the wait time was a little more than I anticipated. Once it was my turn, the clerk was very helpful in trying to help me locate the shirt design I was trying to exchange, but bad luck for me.......the shirt design I was looking for actually ran out, and the only way I could get this shirt in a mens extra large was to order "online". Not wanting to wait, I decided to just exchange the t-shirt for another design, and that's how I ended up with this "Duke Kahanamoku, Ambassador of Aloha" t-shirt. Check it out, cool yeah??? If you've ever owned a Crazy Shirts t-shirt, you'll know that the shirt itself it pretty high quality, as they use a heavy gauge combed cotton material, and Crazy Shirts also uses unique dyes to colorize their t-shirts. What kinda shocked me, was how much an actually t-shirt cost in year 2025. ($42.00) for a t-shirt, and if you add Hawaii state sales tax, you're looking at just under $44.00 bucks! YIKES!!! I guess I'm just comparing this to my recent purchase of some Crazy Shirts t-shirts I just bought from the Crazy Shirts Outlet at Ward Center, where I totally scored some t-shirts for like $6 bucks! Lol! Overall, a very high quality t-shirt! I would say it's the Rolls Royce t-shirt that will last for years if you take good care in wearing/washing the shirt. read more

When first visiting Hawaii I encountered a Crazy Shirts store in Waikiki and impressed by the heavy weight cotton I became a regular customer, both during visits to the Islands and also on-line. The shirts were (are) expensive, but the quality made them seem worth it. I did note, in recent years that the quality had begun to noticeably diminish; lighter weight, less generous in size. Still, the quality exceeded that of many other casual tee shirts. They'd also had great belt loop cargo shorts that for some inexplicable reason they discontinued in favor of elastic waist shorts. We also all should know that most apparel worn in the United States is produced in less fortunate nations under sweatshop conditions, regardless of the label: Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong and the like. But recently I awoke in the middle of the night to grab some shirts and my worst suspicion was confirmed. All Crazy Shirts are manufactured in El Salvador. El Salvador for decades been a blood-soaked nation. Most Salvadorans live in grueling poverty. But now it has come to light that the Salvadoran government rents out those in its prisons to local businesses. And now the spotlight is on El Salvador's prisons arising from refugees in the United States who came to escape brutal conditions have been seized and deported to prisons in El Salvador without due process. News reports indicate that inmates at the same facility are "rented out" to Salvadoran factories and plantations. I can buy no additional shirts, no matter how well made, that are made under such conditions, lest I be complicit in that injustice. read more

Best tshirts in Hawaii. They are super thick and last forever. I buy at least one every trip to Hawaii

I'm generally not a big fan of CS. Their prints are not that unique compared to the surf co's prints exclusive to Hawai'i. However, when I saw a shirt that represented Hawaiian kau kau (food, meal), I had to have it. The print is coconut dyed so it will retain its colors longer. Represented on the shirt is loco moco, lomi salmon, pastele, lau lau, manapua, musubi, shave ice, pipikaula, saimin, poi and chicken katsu. IMHO, the latter should have been replaced by poke. The cashier was super cool, and the new location in Ala Moana had just re-opened. The only downside to the shirt was the price: $39!!!! Most surf shop Ts are $25, and there are always deals (ie, BO, get 50% off second shirt). In the future, I will not completely swear off CS. This unique print is only avail at the Ala Moana location. Its close by Target, so it will be an easy stop in the future. read more

I have been a Crazy Shirt's fan for years and only wear Crazy Shirts t-shirts. I have over 50 Crazy Shirts and growing from over the years and the older shirts are still in excellent condition! I even have an original Hurricane Iniki Tye-Dyed t-shirt from years ago and it's still in pristine condition. My gripe with the newer versions, especially with the Tye-Dyed shirts are that the collars tend to get warped, wrinkled and look stretched out after a few washings. This was never the case with their older shirts, but the newer ones are much thinner and don't have the same quality! I have since been going to the Ward Outlet store to purchase their flawed printed items because paying close to $40 for a t-shirt that doesn't hold it's quality is not worth it, especially if the full priced shirts have the same problem. These shirts are no longer the great quality shirts of days gone past and I would think twice before purchasing them, especially for the full priced ones! I have contacted Crazy Shirts customer service and their response is I have a defective shirt and I should return it for a replacement? It would be great but the outlet shirts are not easily replaceable and their full priced ones have the same problem? Am I supposed to return and replace all of their shirts? read more

During one of my daily jaunts around Ala Moana Center, I decided to go into Crazy Shirts to update what I call my "senior uniform". Oh, Hawai'i's weather is perfect for kicking back in or going "holoholo" in tee-shirts and shorts. To be honest, the quality of Crazy Shirts has long attracted me with its 100% combed ring spun cotton comfort and their crazy funky designs. Over the years, Crazy Shirts has upgraded their garment technology through the use of specialty dyes (Ti Leaf, Rum, Key Lime, Wine, Money, Chile, Beer, Crater and now Pineapple) and by offering UPF protection. Their focus is on men's, women's and children's casual (tops and bottoms) apparel. The women's and girls tee-shirts have various necklines whereas the men's and boy's shirts are basically crew-neck. Both short and long sleeve lengths are offered. On the day that I walked in, I was greeted immediately by both a male and female worker. When I said I was just browsing, they allowed me to do so without being intrusive but they made themselves available to answer any questions. I was assisted by Angela who was friendly and offered me sizing information as I didn't want to try anything on in the store. I made my choices and off I went. Customer service at this store is congenial and not pushy at all. My shopping experience was pleasant for sure! Another thing I can say about Crazy Shirts garments is you get what you pay for! While the shirts run from $21 to $66, the garment will last you for years through wash after wash. read more

Crazy Shirts is a T-shirt store in the really touristy area of Oahu where the big shopping district is. Their gimmick is that a lot of their shirts are dyed in certain ways. I bought a tan shirt that was dyed in Kona coffee, for instance. The shirts are nice, very thick. A word to the wise: they run really large. I originally asked for a XXL and the woman told me I should look at the XL, which it turns out was plenty big. They are pricey. It's like $30 for a shirt. But if you are looking for a nice shirt and a unique gift from Hawaii, this could fit the bill. I really don't like going to Ala Moana, especially during the holidays, but I was only in town for a few days and wanted Crazy Shirts. All Crazy Shirt locations differ in selection, but this one has great customer service. I love these shirts because they seem to last longer and don't fall apart or fade as other tshirts. You pay a little more but the designs and durability make it worth it for me. Plus the customer service is always good here. If you are coming to Oahu during any other time than the holidays, I would definitely recommend stopping by here. Again, the shirts are a little more than your normal tshirt, but the designs and quality are much better than your ordinary souvenir tshirt you would buy at one of the stores in Waikiki. read more

I needed to pick out a Christmas gift for my uncle, who is local-to-da-max! His idea of "dressing up" is something along the lines of: a non-wrinkled T-shirt, shorts with no pukas (holes), and slippers. In the last decade, the only two times that I've seen him in anything other than a T-shirt was at a funeral and for his own wedding. Since Crazy Shirts is known for their locally-inspired T-shirts, I was pretty sure that I'd find something for him here, and I was right! After quickly glancing at the wall with all their shirt designs, I spotted one that said - "Rubbah Slippas....Good for: Party attire, dog treat, fan, motivational device, bug killer, door stopper, brakes, pot holders, multi-purpose tool". Perfect! I still wanted to get him something else, but didn't see anything that caught my eye. I did notice some of their signature items - shirts dyed in chocolate, kona coffee, or wine. One of the ladies working came over to help me out. She was very friendly, and enthusiastically pointed out a few other ones she thought he'd like. I ended up with a shirt that was dyed in luau leaves, one of their newest designs. The shirts were about $30 each, which may seem like a lot to pay for a t-shirt. First off I love the brand. Durable, fun, colorful apparel. Bad experience with the sales person at this location however. Her name was Angie and she was very dismissive towards me and way more attentive towards the Japanese tourists than to me and my family. We were going to get some items for my father who was to sickly to make the trip from the mainland but always had affinity for the Crazy Shirts brand and wanted us to pick him up some things. Needless to say we had to disappoint him and left the store empty handed. Luckily the outlet down the road was a much better experience and gave us equal treatment.
