Over the winter break, I was looking for an activity to do with my sister and my mom. I came across…read moreBakebe on Instagram and booked a class for us. Online, it showed a cake booking can take up to 3 people. It was $120 for one cake, but I thought it was pretty reasonable considering it was all 3 of us. When we arrived, they told us it's an additional $20 per person which would be $160 for all three of us, still baking one cake. They admitted their website is confusing, and ended up charging us $140 instead for the three of us. The concept is different than other cooking and baking classes. They hand you an iPad and you follow along. The instructions were detailed and staff onsite jump in to help if you ask. All the tools, ingredients and suppliers are readily available and self-served. The space was overall fairly clean. The best part is not having to clean the tools after using. The cake came out presentable to bring to a dinner party. The cake did not particular tasted that good but it wasn't that bad either. It's definitely prettier than it tasted. It was fun but I don't think any of us learned much from the class. There were mostly kids baking alongside us so I think they may have enjoyed it more.

There is also a cafe in the front of the store where you could order a variety of drinks like cafe latte, americano, and guava passion fruit. At the back, it is a co-baking studio and you get full hands-on experience on how to make a cake from one of their cake designs. It takes roughly 2 hours to make a cake from scratch. I had a lot of fun decorating my cake near the end and came out with some new skills like how to operate a stand mixer. Overall, I would definitely be back to try my hands on making another cake!

The woman attempted to make things right, which I appreciated. I also got a coupon to use on a future order. So Sweet is located in an industrial area. The signage was difficult to see, as there was a huge van in front of the store. All I saw was the number 12. That's the store! I have consumed the following items: - Blueberry and yogurt cake box - Ovaltine cake box - Mini soft cake with homemade custard sauce and pork floss Both cake boxes were full-sized. I loved the mini soft cake with pork floss that I returned for another one. I find the cake box's container lid to be extremely tight. My prying the lid open messed up two of my gel strips on my nails. Ugh! The blueberry and yogurt cake box was yummy. I liked the fresh blueberries. The cake was flavourful. It was as if there were popping boba in one of the layers. It had the perfect sweetness. The jelly on top was a nice touch. I had some before I had the cake. It tasted like grape. It was subtle in taste and sweetness, which was lovely. The Ovaltine cake box was excellent. It also wasn't sweet, but tasted just like the drink, but in cake form. I love the mini soft cake with pork floss. The pudding was a nice touch between the two layers of cake. It wasn't sweet. I like the savoury pork floss. So good! I never got to try the cream puffs. Two will cost you $24. I feel like I need to be in a mood to splurge to try them. I'm not there yet. (94)

I had their strawberry cream dessert, which was light, fluffy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. The crunchy almond-topped treat was delicious, and the choux pastries were baked to perfection, crispy on the outside and filled with a creamy, flavorful filling inside. Not only was the quality excellent, but the packaging was also neat, and they even included utensils for convenience. It's clear that a lot of care goes into their desserts. Highly recommend So Sweet for anyone looking for delicious and aesthetically pleasing desserts. Can't wait to try more from them!

Recently, I got to try two of their 6 inch cakes. The earl grey tea chestnut cake with fresh strawberries and the black sesame mochi lava cake with fresh mangoes. Both cakes are AMAZING! I could taste the earl grey flavor and the chestnut flavor separately along with the fresh strawberries, it is a wonderful combination. The black sesame one was sooooo good also. It has black sesame mousse on the outside and the top is like a black sesame lava topped with pistachios and some kind of nutty crumble crunch. The inside has mochis layered within along with black sesame cake, more of that nutty crumble crunch and at the bottom is fresh mangoes. I honestly don't know which one I like better but I am craving either cakes again (I had both within the last 3 weeks haha). The service there is still excellent. Everyone working there is so kind & helpful. The ambiance is nice... it is spacious, bright and clean. I really love going in there and chatting with everyone while receiving top notch service.

Their designs are abundant on the website and they really get the design to a tee, it was PERFECT. Flavour selection is pretty good and I did have a short call with them while ordering on their site to determine which flavour was recommended as well as what colours I wanted the cake design to emphasize. I had to check Google reviews to confirm instructions on their location, but when I got to the Langham Square plaza it was easy enough to find based on their address (unit number 2006). Staff gave clear instructions at pick up to keep the cake in the floor of the car during transport and to store the cake in a fridge until ready to eat. The box for transport was great because I got to check the design easily before leaving and the ribbon was tightly wrapped to secure the box cover to the base. The staff speak Mandarin as well as English. Payment was all done online beforehand. Highly recommend ordering their cakes for any event!

Tucked inside Markham 朗豪坊, X Cafe is a takeout-only spot that keeps things simple but does them right. They have a solid selection of ready-made small cakes for quick pickups, and you can also pre-order custom cakes in your preferred flavors and sizes. Prices are very reasonable, especially given how fresh everything tastes. It's nothing over-the-top or flashy just genuinely satisfying when you're craving dessert. What impressed me most was how well-balanced the flavors were. Nothing overly sweet or heavy. I usually prefer sponge cakes over mousse, and theirs really delivered soft, airy, and perfectly moist with just the right hint of sweetness. A lovely go-to for cake lovers, and definitely a spot worth supporting if you appreciate thoughtfully made, no-fuss desserts from a local small business

Mango Red Rice Bento - A decent sized cake probably for 2 people. I'd say its a 6 in x 6 in cake. The sponge layers were moist and cream layers light. Mango and Red Rice combo was interesting, but felt a bit unbalanced. Red rice gave good texture but contributed little to flavour, hence the flavour from the cake was one dimensional. Nice to try. Salted Caramel, Mochi and Walnut Bento - The many different ingredients contributed to the complexity of the cake. There was the texture from the mochi and walnut, flavours from salted caramel and nuts. Would get again. Also got to try a slice of their millie crepe. Crepes were sweet and soft but again not too complex, would not get again. But also I don't value mille crepe cakes. Would come back for the bentos, its a nice to share would 2-4 people!
