I dropped by to pick up some sweets for a party. It's located in a small nondescript strip mall. My 3 year old picked out some cute cookies, some of which were Pokémon-themed. She also picked up a small strawberry cheesecake. I did not go into the store, so I cannot speak about that. The cookies were a hit with the kids and the cheesecake was yummy. It was not too sweet and had just the right amount of tang. Fairly light, but still very flavorful. Pricing I thought was a little on the pricey side. It was. $103 for the small cake and 7 cookies. I guess that's probably average, but coming from a smaller town, it's more than I expected. Still happy to support small businesses. read more

Compared to last year's Ditto Takeover, I like that we were given a full 1.5 hours (last year, we only had 1 hour, 15 minutes and it felt so rushed). We arrived at 11AM and we liked that we got to choose our own table since not all the other guests had arrived yet. We were given time to look at the menu and were served the drinks fairly quickly. However, since the food was pre-ordered, I was hoping it would come within 10 to 20 minutes. We got our food at exactly 11:25AM, which isn't too bad, but I was mildly annoyed that the first group of people (such as ourselves) who arrived earlier got served near the end while the people who sat down later got their food first. Not a big deal, but it's a challenge when you have a young and eager child. 5 minutes is an eternity for them. However, I think in the future, the first group of people who arrive first should be served first. :) Overall, the food and drinks were great and very cute. Our server Cheryl was friendly. Haven't been back in a while when I decided to stop impromptuly to this place on a Sunday afternoon with a friend. There was also some kind of $5 promotion credit discount that week but the app wasn't showing the discount. Oh well. The place is not too big and it has about 5 to 6 tables. The place is super cute, decorated with lots of alpaca themed decor. I really enjoyed savouring the Mango Totoro, one of their dessert speciality. It had Ribena Gelee inside and it was sold out fast. Though a little pricey, it was worth it. It was also too cute to devour it. Their Coffees were really good too. I did have an Americano which was already strong in coffee taste and wouldn't mind trying their lattes next time. Oishiii Sweets do offer themed afternoon teas pop-up from time to time which are quite popular and are sold out fast. Oiishiii Sweet also offer cartoons themed desserts and pastries such as Miffy, Totoro cookies etc. Their cheesecakes are also amazing, one of the few Cheesecake places that I would go for. Special mention to their Black Sesame Tofu Cheesecake. THe staff was polite and friendly during my visits. Would recommend as a place to relax for a chill afternoon. I have been to Oishii Sweets for a couple of times as I am a fan of their cheesecakes, mainly the black sesame cheesecake and ube cheesecake. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by a friendly staff. It is a cute and cozy cafe with plenty of seating with a few booths from vendors selling their hand made items. (This was based from the pop-up event they had at Isabella's Mochi Donut Boutique on Mar 16th) I have heard about this place and never gone because I normally do not go to the Markham area often. Staff was really nice and the selection they offered was pretty crazy where they had many Easter themed cookies. I ordered 5 of their mochi muffins, 3 sugar cookies, 1 Easter egg chocolate cookie and 2 ube cinnamon rolls. The muffins were really interesting as they were soft but had a bounce to it. I am not a muffin person but the muffins from here were pretty good, flavour was there but not too strong. I admired the sugar cookies for some time before eating them since I am sure it took time for the bakers to create these masterpieces! I was sold on the baby yoda cookie, it was so adorable to look at haha. Never paid attention to this bakery in our hood. To impress our friends with a picky sweet tooth, we planned to order a special dessert. Search indicated this bakery has great reviews on black sesame tofu cheesecake. We decided to give it a try. As read in one of the review, I specifically asked for a slightly stronger black sesame taste. Result was exceptionally good !! Black sesame taste was just right with the tofu taste. Both did not overcome the cheese taste. This cake received a lot of compliments that evening. Got to mention, that store is not just a bakery, they are also a small cafe with quite a few of neat merchandise for sale. It was around Chinese New Year. I was exploring the Scarborough area and was craving some desserts. My Google map showed me this café as one of its recommendations and it had great reviews, so I decided to check it out! It was a small cozy café with abundant cute décor- from the wall art to sugar cookies, cute things were everywhere! There were also a few tables available to sit that could accommodate about 10 to 12 people. There were a few people in line in front of me, so while waiting, I browsed things around me- there were baskets of cute sugar cookies made with colours of the fall season to hand-painted objects made by various artists. When it was my turn, a friendly young lady at the counter greeted me and helped me to pick some desserts. There was so much variety, it was hard to pick! I purchased three- a mochi donut, a yuzu macaron, and a piece of ube cake. The first one I ate was the ube cake- I love ube and the lovely purple colour! The crust was crunchy like cheesecake crust. The cake was soft, lightly sweet and had a light taste of ube. The yuzu macaron was delicious- the outer layers were soft and crunchy and the yuzu filling inside had a light tangy taste. The mochi donut was also lightly sweet and very chewy, just like a piece of mochi! I love the chewy texture of desserts, so this was my favourite! I've so far bought 3 cheesecakes from them - Yuzu, milk tea, and Vietnamese coffee... their prices are extremely reasonable as well, considering how beautiful and tasty their cakes are! Their cakes are nice and light. While all flavours I've tried were executed really well, I think I might like their fruity flavours a bit more so my next try will be the strawberry lychee :) They're also extremely accommodating. While trying to order a cake on their website for a thanksgiving get together, I noticed that the time slot for which I'd need to pick up was not there, so I gave them a call and asked if there was a possibility that they could meet that request. The girl on the phone was super helpful and you could tell she genuinely cared and wanted to make it work. After taking my number down as she said she'd need to check in with the chef, she called me back shortly after and said it would be no problem. Amazing customer service! This my second visit but first time sitting inside. We came on a Thursday evening during March break and the cafe wasn't busy. They didn't ask for proof of vaccination. The first time I ordered the strawberry lychee cake and that was really good. I also got the Vietnamese tart which was a crowd pleaser too!! During this visit I tried the hot drinks. My hubby ordered the chai latte and I had the matcha latte. My drink was average lots of bubbles and air at the top. I didn't really taste the matcha until almost halfway through the drink. The chai latte was good but not hot enough. The black sesame tofu slice and milk tea cheesecake were both really good. The tart crust had the perfect crunch. They also sell sugar cookies. Ordered a yuzu citrus cheesecake for my sister's birthday from here. It's so convenient to do so online! The packaging and decor was cute, but I wish they would customize it with a birthday message of sorts. Taste wise, it wasn't too sweet - you could definitely taste the tangyness and citrusyness of the yuzu, and there was a slight bitterness from the incorporation of peel. It's interesting as the cake gets less sweet and more sour with time (probably from the acidity), so be sure to finish it that day or within a couple days! read more

I have way too many bookmarks of cool businesses to visit. I have flagged Oishiii Sweets for a while and finally dropped by a couple of Saturdays ago on a whim. I learned recently that Isabella's Boutique donuts are available at Oishiii Sweets. As much as I love dropping by the Beaches to visit my old neighbourhood and wanting to pick up donuts at Isabella's, it's such a shorter distance for me to get to Oishiii. Driving time to Oishiii: 5 minutes Driving time to Isabella's: 30 minutes Oishiii Sweets is in a small plaza with Pizza Pizza anchoring it. It's across from the Shell gas station that I mainly visit to vacuum my car. There were a decent number of parking spots available just past noon on Saturday. I backed into a spot and walked into the bakery. I was absolutely in heaven when I walked in. There are alpaca decorations, figures, plushies, sugar cookies, and more everywhere. When I visited Madame Tussauds in Shanghai back in 2017, I wanted to get something small at the gift shop. I ended up getting an alpaca plushie, which I adore. It was lovely seeing my plushie's cousins here! The woman behind the counter immediately said hi to me. I reciprocated while mesmerized by how quaint and cute this bakery is. I finally got to the baked goods section. Mochi heaven! Oishii has mochi muffins. I looked at the mochi donuts and had to have them. I will return to get the former next time. You can order the mochi donuts either online and pick them up at the store, or order when you walk in, which was what I did. I got a six-pack of mochi donuts. I got cinnamon roll, matcha, black sesame, pumpkin spice, sprinkle, and white rabbit. One donut goes for $4.25. Six of them is a tad cheaper at $25. I paid using my debit card. Tap wasn't working well with my card, so I had to slide it into the machine and enter my PIN. All went well. I saw tiramisu desserts in glass jars that I wanted. There are also some magical, fancy cheesecakes displayed. The woman was so friendly and nice. She let me know that the owner is obsessed with alpacas. I got to meet Larry the alpaca, who is a fixture of the bakery, and his pink alpaca friend. I oddly get this owner. It's all cool to me. I had a couple of donuts when I returned home that day from running errands. I absolutely devoured the black sesame and white rabbit mochi donuts first. The black sesame is one of my favourites. It's so flavourful. If you love the taste of rich black sesame with every bite, this donut is for you. The white rabbit tastes exactly like the candy. It threw me back to being a kid again. It even comes with a candy on top for comparison and cuteness. Yum! Frankly, there wasn't a donut that I didn't like. The matcha one was full of matcha green tea flavour. The cinnamon one had a strong cinnamon taste with the right balance of sugar mixed in. The pumpkin spice was a reminder that it's the season to enjoy it. It was delicious. The sprinkle one was yummy and fun. In comparison, it wasn't as exciting as the other flavours, though. I can't wait to return to try everything else. You can also get ice cream. This is a cute small bakery/cafe for a quick take out snack. They have a variety of desserts like their cookies, mochi muffins/donuts, and cheesecakes. They also have a large drink menu as well, and they have some interesting flavours like ube latte, matcha latte, or hoijcha latte. I've tried the ube latte and it was great! The flavours were good and it wasn't too sweet. I only wish it was served hotter as it was only warm, and I wish it was bigger because I really enjoyed it. I've also had a few of their sugar cookies and mochi muffins. The mochi muffins have a good crunch on the outside and super soft and chewy on the inside. The cookies are also super cute! The staff are always really nice and service is fast. I want to come back and try their mochi donuts that they serve. You can also preorder online because they sell out real quick. We usually get the houjicha or matcha brownies (have golden oreos or normal ones sprinkled throughout). I find that the brownies can get a bit too sweet if I eat it all in one sitting without a cup of tea or coffee. This place also serves drinks and I tried their flat white before and it was pretty good. Their earl grey cheesecake tart is one of my top favourites. I really like the tart crust. Yay!! I had no idea this place was here, but we stumbled across it when we were driving up Kennedy. No lies, I was attracted by the llama sign. We went in and were greeted by the staff and delightful plants! Gorgeous space! We tried the london fog iced latte, which was delicious by the way, and ordered a few pastries. We had the sesame cake slice, milk tea tart, and earl grey tart. It was so good. Flavours are strong in the tea that they use so it definitely tasted like what you'd imagine. I tried one of the jar desserts and I wasn't a big fan because it was 50% just whip cream. But you get to keep the jar so that's pretty neat. I ordered a milk tea cake for my boyfriend the next week and it was so delicious! I prefer the tarts just because I like the pastry shell of the tarts, but oh man, you can't go wrong here. read more

You'll thank me later, trust me -Father's day cheesecake tart sampler $30 for six different cheesecake tarts (flavors included the following: thai milk tea, matcha, yuzu, HK milk tea, viet coffee, and earl grey) To me, this was the BEST way to try every flavor they offer at an exceptionally reasonable price I will preface this by saying that the cheesecake flavor in these tarts is not very present, the flavor is more similar to that of just a mousse of each flavor. This worked well for me though as I had 1/4 of every flavor to see which ones I'd re-order going forward! The following are my own opinions on each flavor so take them with a grain of salt: -[THAI MILK TEA] This very much tastes like @Chatimecanada's thai milk tea so if you're a fan of that drink, this flavor of cheesecake tart is definitely the one for you -[MATCHA] Usually, matcha flavored desserts are very overpowering in matcha flavor BUT do not fear, as the matcha one in from Oishi Sweets is subtley woven into the cheesecake filling -[YUZU] This flavor is one that I would describe to be one that is citrusy! I did like that it was not too sweet though. The cafe is located behind the Pizza Pizza plaza south of Kennedy past Steeles. I wanted to check out Oishiii Sweets to grab some desserts for a family dinner. Showed up on a Sunday afternoon and walked smack dab right into a Sailor Moon pop up event! Everyone looked sooo fun and amazing dressed up in their cosplay! I picked up the black sesame cheesecake ($28) and 3 mochi donuts ($4.25 each) from their counter. The cheesecake was decent - very light and not too sweet but definitely could have used more black sesame flavor. It's a super cute cafe with tons of selection and I love the vibe at this place. There's alpacas everywhere and the ube soft-serve is so good on a hot summer's day. They have other flavors that I will definitely be going back for like yuzu and matcha. The cake I bought was for a birthday occasion and it was the black sesame tofu cake which was light and not too sweet. If I'm honest, I wasn't a huge fan of it because it didn't have as strong a black sesame taste as I would like but my family really liked it because it was a good size and still tasty overall. Still, I would probably try something different the next time I go. They sell cake slices so I'm likely to try the cakes before I get them. I'm so glad I was able to swing by their newly opened store after following them on instagram. The cakes, cookies, and tarts are delicious and they have coffee as well. You can meet "Larry" as well! He is real :) There is plenty of seating space so great if you want to hang out for a long time or just want to grab a coffee/cookies to go. You also don't need to worry about parking cause there is a lot in the area. I highly recommend their HK Tea cheesecake, the flavour is very subtle. This place is so cute. It's found in a small plaza with a daycare. So when I came in the afternoon, it was hard to find a parking spot as it seems like parents were picking up their kids. Thoroughly enjoyed the Earl Grey cheesecake I got for Mother's Day! The cheesecakes at Oishiii are not like the fluffy cheesecakes from other Japanese places (Uncle Tetsu) and they're not as rich and dense as a NY style. At Oishiii, they're light and creamy, giving you the allusion that you can have a bigger slice than usual haha. The Earl Grey flavour was delicious! This is a really cool Cafe with cool desserts. I have the Yuzu white chocolate cookie and black sesame cookie. The black sesame cookie tasted like black sesame seeds and bird food. Don't ask me how I know what that tastes like but that's what it tastes like. I enjoy black sesame desserts but I didn't like it in this cookie form. I liked the yuzu cookie though. They have other cool desserts like macarons and mochi donuts, among other Japanese cakes. They also have the Chestnut Cream Mont Blanc dessert which is not easy to find in Scarborough.
