I've gone to one bar method and a barre3 class and neither of them were nearly this difficult. The waiting are is nice and large and they have a back area with lockers, cubbies and hooks for your coats. And that's where your weights, ball and bands are. There are two changing rooms with deodorant, dry shampoo, hair spray, mirror, qtips, and a small towel. There is one bathroom, i didn't use. There is a water dispenser but no towels if you sweat. And you must wear grip socks. Although there were some positions i had difficulty keeping my toes from sliding. If you want a hard workout, this is the class for you. Only reason it's not 5 stars is there are no amenities- no towel or showers and one of the two changing rooms had no light.

I received a reminder text on the day of, which noted that grip socks were required. I made sure to wear socks that provided that type of support and the ladies there accepted that without issue, which I really appreciated. The studio is really nice and clean. There were cubbies to put belongings, but I wasn't comfortable placing my purse out in the open like that, so I was given a key to put everything in a locker. Upon entering the class, we were shown where to pick up weights, and then free to choose where we wanted to be on the floor. The instructor, Carly was so sweet and personable. She introduced herself to everyone individually, and asked about any injuries. During the work out itself, we started on the floor, used the weights, then moved on to some exercises holding on to the bar. I think the moves on the bar were my favorite. It was all small movements, high intensity, low impact. Carly was excellent at explaining form and movements. She also came around and made adjustments to our form in an incredibly gentle way. I definitely had shaky legs at times, and felt the burn. I feel like I worked my legs and core the most. We ended with more floor work on our backs, with the final stretches being done in a darkened room. This class lasted a full hour, but actually felt like way less time, which is perhaps the best compliment I can give to a work out. I had a great time and loved the friendly, as well as accommodating staff. I'm not sure I will attend regularly, because $20+ per class is more than I want to pay.

I've done Vinyasa, Sculpt, HIIT Pilates, Mat Pilates, and Serene Yin. The classes that are meant to be more challenging definitely are, and so you get a good work out. The studio has everything you need, from mats to props, but I prefer to bring my own mat or a towel because I am a bit on the germaphobic side and I think because the mats have been sprayed down by alcohol so many times, they aren't that grippy anymore. The only thing I find strange is, I feel like almost every time I've been to the studio, it's always someone subbing for the main instructor. So, I can't say I have someone that I consistently like and go to because I feel like it's a different person every time. That being said though, I have nonetheless thought every session I've been to were pretty high quality. Definitely recommend! P.S. Because it's the holidays they have a Christmas tree up, which makes me feel happy looking at it :)

Very efficient use of space and lighting - I loved how the studio is set up!…read more I joined the 4:30 YS Strength class on a Wednesday with Margot, who is a really great instructor and talked me through the class while addressing an existing injury of mine. At the end she made sure I was feeling okay too, which I appreciate so much! I think next time I will join a Vinyasa flow - the YS Strength is a mixture of barre and Pilates with weights and bands and not yoga flow centric, so I got way more than I bargained for. One thing that deters me from barre and Pilates is the false counting. 8 seconds = 8 seconds, not with an additional 2 counts of 3, so I usually opt out of these. I understand it's to push you harder but that's for a class that's indicated to be barre/Pilates.

The studio space itself is large and gorgeous, with check-in and clothing for sale upstairs, and lockers, a chill out area, locker rooms and the studios downstairs. Eucalyptus cold towels are available for free to use before and after class in a mini fridge near the studios. There are 2 studios and the classes I've taken there have been Power (a pretty standard modern yoga class), Sculpt (more weight focused, but with yoga flows), Barre, Hot Power Fusion, Yin and 26&2. I truly do love them all, with Sculpt and Barre being my favorites and 26&2 being one of the most unique physical and mental challenges I've ever done...in extreme heat!! Towels and mats are available for rent or you can bring your own. Instructors are really cool and you can tell there's a community here. These classes are challenging. It's vital you drink water and if you're someone who gets light headed, consider a small snack before class. It gets to be over 105 degrees in the rooms. I always leave here feeling very cleansed from the physical purge of the exercise, as well as mentally refreshed from the challenge and zoning in that's required to be successful in the heat. I love this place!!

An update: The only reason for the 4 stars is due to the over crowdedness…read more I love Hot 8 Yoga it's been such a great experience since I joined. The classes are consistently amazing and "Most" instructors are top-notch. My only gripe is when classes get packed beyond reason. For example, a few Saturdays ago I took a Power class that had well over 40 people. I'm not sure if it was the instructor's popularity, but I've never seen a Saturday class that crowded. Overall, the instructor was good, but not sure why the class would be that packed. It's hard to move or even fully stretch when you're practically mat-to-mat. A simple solution might be to offer two Power classes back-to-back on weekends to help ease the crowding. When you see that one class has that many students, over 40, it would make more sense to split it or add a back-to-back session. It's just not ideal to be so tightly packed when you need space to move and stretch. Early mornings are definitely the best if you want to avoid the overcrowding. Other than that, I absolutely love this studio and recommend it to anyone looking for a solid yoga practice.

It's just one small studio, but as word is still getting out about this spot, both times the classes have been very small to the point where I almost felt like I was getting a private session! With more than 10 people in there, I could see that it might feel a bit cramped, but with 3-5, it was just lovely, with plenty of space to stretch, not too stuffy, and so clean inside. Both Nicky and Rachel were great, very different types of instructors but talented in their own ways. They have high-quality mats to use if you like, which are free but which you are expected to wipe clean after class and hang back up, and you can drink some complimentary tea in their little back room after class. The front desk has always been a pleasant experience, too. Not too many bells and whistles at this studio, but for a $20 it's a pleasant experience from start to finish.
