Luann and Rod reupholstered my Jens Risom chair. They have fabric to choose from but I didn't know this before I found them, so I brought my own. I recommend looking at their fabric options first as I overpaid a bit for mine. They did a great job. No complaints. The welding looks really nice and the fabric is nice and tight. Warning: The rave reviews for Creative Design Guild are old and almost all mention Luann. According to the son, Rodney, who is doing most work now, his mother (Luann) rarely does upholstery any more. Here's a review of Rodney's work on a chair that I took there (with fabric): AMATEUR! Seams don't match, cording is rippled, seat cushion no longer fits (extends to the front); I could go on and on. I had the pleasure of working with Luann a few years ago to make me a chair and ottoman for my daughters room. Other than the colors, I gave her little direction. She created the cutest chair with my daughters name embroidered on the back of the chair. The ottoman had cute little beads dangling from it, making it very girly and dainty. My daughter absolutely loved it. A few years prior to that, she reupholstered a slipper chair for my own bedroom. It was white material so after a few years of use, it got pretty dirty. I thought maybe I could try to re-do the chair myself and attempted to take it apart. Boy, there were so many staples holding that thing together! Had I picked a more durable colored material, this chair would have withstood a Texas tornado! I haven't worked with Rod but I have seen some of his work up close and he not only has great upholstery skills, he also has a creative eye and is able to design from scratch some pretty amazing pieces. I'm just sad I no longer live in Michigan, but I highly recommend their work! read more
