Still, I still felt hesitant about going off of yelp reviews, so I asked for references, which he provided without hesitation. They were all extremely positive. His associate Justun worked our event and did a great job! The dance floor lighting and amber uplights added warmth to our industrial-looking reception space, although I did wish the dance floor lighting had "swirled" I assumed it would, but it was not specifically discussed beforehand). I really wanted to have market string lights for my reception but when I contacted other vendors they charged an arm and a leg just to hang 5 parallel string lights. I then found Creative Lighting Design on yelp and Jimmy was my contact. The quote he gave me was so affordable and I'm so happy I went with this company. Jimmy even did a complimentary site visit to make sure the lights can be hung in the venue. The lights gave such a warm and magical feeling at our wedding. Pictures came out great and the venue looked even more beautiful after they dimmed the lights for dancing. Jimmy hung the lights well before the reception and took them down the next day. I'm surprised to be the first to review Jimmy! He's awesome. He did the lights for my reception at Yank Sing and it looked amazing. I was told the staff and coordinator were very impressed and had never seen the inside of the restaurant decorated like that before. I think lights are TOTALLY under-appreciated for weddings. If you're spending several thousand on your flowers, spend another grand on lights to make it really look good. JImmy was very reasonably priced (i checked out 3 other places) and his quotes were in the middle of the pack. But his service was top notch and he came highly recommended from Natasha at Waterlily pond (my florist). The two really worked together well and I trusted them to make the place look cool. Jimmy and Creative Lighting Design did an amazing job lighting the Brazilian Room for our Wedding in Berkeley. It was such a subtle and soulful amber lighting of the beams and colorful spotlights on the outside patio that really added the soul to the event. Jimmy was incredible in helping put together our school's 50th Anniversary Mass celebration. His lighting changed a simple gymnasium into a sacred place for worship and prayer. Many of our students commented on how his lighting changed their overall attitude and approach towards what could have been a typical school prayer service. When I decided to pick a Chinese restaurant for my wedding venue, I automatically thought of adding lights in order to make the restaurant look romantic & spectacular. We found Jimmy and Creative Lighting SF through Yelp and we're so glad we did! We contacted him after receiving several shockingly high lighting quotes from other companies, and ended up going with Jimmy for our November wedding when his price came in so much lower. In addition, contact with him was professional, responsive, and personable. About midway through our work with him, we made a change in our sound needs for the wedding, and Jimmy altered the contract for us with no extra fees and no animosity whatsoever. It was refreshing and relieving to work with someone who treated us as human beings and not just people to squeeze money out of just because we're having a wedding. On the contrary, he was thoughtful about our budget and offered us several different options of places to cut costs if we wanted or needed to. On the day of the wedding we walked into a room that had been literally transformed through lighting. It looked so amazing that the venue director asked us to provide photos for her to post on the venue's web site. Jimmy provided beautiful up-lighting on all the walls of the large ballroom, as well as in the long hallway leading into the venue. In addition (and as a real show-stopper), he managed to do two 50ft strings of café lights across both of our king's tables, as well as perfect accent lighting for our candy buffet and cake tables, and a cool pattern on the dance floor that went perfectly with the patterns and modern theme of the overall décor. Given that we never actually met Jimmy personally (though he did offer to walk through the space with us), and that he was so much more reasonably priced than other companies, we were nervous that we might receive an inferior product on the big day. But I can honestly say that we could have paid double for the job he did and it would have been well worth it for such quality work. We are so happy that we used Jimmy from Creative Lighting. He just worked on our wedding at Lancaster Vineyards and it turned out amazing! I shopped around and did a lot of cost comparisons and not only was Jimmy significantly more affordable, but he also used his creativity to come up with alternate ideas that helped bring the costs down even more to meet our budget. We were looking to transform the parking lot of a vineyard into a beautiful, romantic setting for a classy, elegant and high-end event and he did just that. He lit up the vineyards beautifully with italian string lights, chandeliers, spot lighting etc. I must say that the quality of work was not affected by his lower pricing. Jimmy was extremely patient and even came to meet us at our venue when we were in town from NY for the day, right off a 15 hour flight from Europe. Jimmy did a great job at our wedding (at Cline Cellars Barrel Room) and was reasonably priced (10-20% cheaper than most of our other vendor quotes). He also did 2 site visits before hand i believe. We did string lights, uplights and some floor washes and really the place looked INCREDIBLE. it was really stunning, and I would say lighting was probably the biggest component to that, though some of the decor of course also played a part. By far the best vendor we hired for our wedding. I got married in Napa at a private residence - we had about 175 people. We looked into a number of other lighting companies and randomly came across Jimmy's website. He did a site visit free of charge and his quote was more competitive than all others we looked at. He was super laid back, worked with changes we made with no issues. Showed up three days before our event to set up the lights and then turned them on for us free of charge the Thursday night before the wedding so we could see how everything looked - which was magical. We wanted the string bistro lights and we got them and some. The generator was never loud or annoying. Brian, one of his employees was at the entire wedding making sure all went well.
