I love Creative Mornings Louisville so much! The sessions are always so informative and interesting. And attending the events is always so much fun! Everyone is there to learn and meet new people, and it's so wonderful to attend events with such a large group of like-minded accepting people. I have met so many new people at the Creative Mornings events I have attended, and I always look forward to attending the next event to see who I will run into, who I will meet, and what I will learn. Also, there's always breakfast and coffee, which is a fun and tasty plus to attending! If you're looking for something fun, and free, to do in the city I cannot recommend Creative Mornings enough! I highly recommend that everyone check it out!

This was my first Creative Mornings event and I had a wonderful experience. I was by myself going into the event, so was a bit nervous to talk to people, but quickly realized how warm and friendly my fellow attendees were. I was first so grateful, and then delighted, when two people sat next to me and we began to get to know each other. It seemed that no matter if anyone attended alone, everyone was engaged in conversation. Is helped that delicious Biscuit Belly catered the event! Heine brothers also provided all of the refreshment options one could want. I found the actual event space roomy and modern, with plenty of room for the rows of chairs and front area for speakers and a projected slideshow. I could easily see the slideshow and hear everyone who presented. I appreciated the copious natural light too! My only critique would be that the microphone kept spazzing out during the keynote, but hey, things happen. We move technology. I found Dana Tanamachi so inspirational as she shared her personal story and was so transparent with her presentation and answers to the audience's questions. It was an awesome Friday morning that helped set the tone for my day. Shoutout to the wonderful staff of Story Louisville who were welcoming, hospitable, and made me feel comfortable in the space and at the event! I can't wait to go to the next Creative Morning!

My first CM and first one here in Louisville! It was very inspiring, and met a few great new people!

Inspiring and very well organized. Get up and get out early to be first in line so you have a chance at getting some free swag (posters, etc). Plenty of food and coffee for everyone! The event I went to was at the Actor's Theatre of Louisville and it was just perfect. The A/V, the stage, the seating, all was top notch. The event organizers were articulate and friendly and everyone who took the stage was entertaining and personable! After the talk you do have the opportunity to mill around a bit and talk to new faces or shake hands with the speaker. A great event and one I'll be sure to continue to make time for.

TikTok really has opened my eyes to hidden treasures everywhere. I'm sure that I'm not the only one…read morethat feels this way. When you doom scroll, you come across many different places that are true hidden gems. Door To Nowhere, or Heigold House, is definitely an oddity and salute to the past. Some housekeeping, you know, things to know about this place. BE CAREFUL. This sits on a roundabout island with steady traffic. Be mindful to the traffic flow and businesses nearby (I parked at a nearby business off the road and walked over here). Be kind to the natural beauty that surrounds this. And most of all, be respectful. As I said, this sits on a roundabout with flowerbeds surrounding it. Whether you are facing front, as in looking at the front of the façade, or looking from the rear, please stay on the sidewalks provided. Take in the informational plaques as well. Built by Christian H Heigold, a successful stonecutter. Majority of the house was completed in 1853. Heigold was a master at stonecutting and completed the home with busts of Presidents George Washington and James Buchanan. Heigold was also a staunch opponent of the 'Know Nothing Party,' and anti-immigration political party and I would like to think that he built his house with all the busts was a big middle finger to those that were anti-immigration. This façade sat in what was known as the The Point neighborhood, which was favored by those that moved to the city from the New Orleans area. Once Louisville diverted the Beargrass Creek away from downtown, this place started to flood annually. Shifting people away from the neighborhood and then the Great Flood of 1937 happened. Slowly the city started buying houses and demolishing them. Ultimately using the land as a dump site. Then this façade was listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. Remained in that area which became Thruston Park. That is until a developer bought the land adjacent to this and build condos. They moved this massive beast, 70,000-pounds, across River Road to where it sits today.

Such amazing history, a must see spot ! Right off a main road but there is parking nearby !read more

How did it get its name? [Louisville KY]…read more We drove to this location on the corner of Sixth Street and Park Avenue in Louisville where there is a famous landmark called the Witches' Tree. It's in front of an apartment house, did not see anyone around. I took my photos of the tree. It actually just looks like an ugly tree, so knotted, tortured, and misshapen, but there were odd things that hung on the tree, mostly trinkets, baubles and bead necklaces of different colors. The story goes that in the late 19th century this tree was the gathering place for a coven of witches. The witches cast a curse on the town when the city cut the tree down ahead of the annual May Day celebration. Exactly 11 months to the day after the tree was cut down, a historic deadly tornado hit Louisville. During the storm, lightning struck the stump of the old witches tree and a new tree began growing there... not a pretty tree but this ugly tree that stands there now. So now locals of the community leave small tributes on and around the tree to keep on the witches' good side and to bring good luck. This is a stop included on the Old Louisville historic ghost tour. Please be respectful of private property when visiting. Review #3912

I had heard good things in past years and I couldn't wait to get to experience it myself! Louisville Swig is a party to remember! Or...since it is a repeal day party with more liquor than you could even imagine and very little food...if you aren't careful, it could be a party you can't help but forget! Lol! So prepare before hand with some pizza or tacos or something to help keep you upright with all the boozy offerings. And put those ride share apps on your phone to good use! There was seemingly endless entertainment, with more to see around every turn! Just past the first room with local beers...was a sign beckoning you to the speakeasy! In the speakeasy, there was not just Old Forester beverages...but also Hound Dog Press where you could press a postcard and live music and photo booths, Oh My! Making our way to the main room, we were pleased to see people with pizza boxes handing out Wick's pieces all around! What a great idea! And a tasty one too! We started to make our way around the main room, sampling the drinks that appealed to us (scotch! wine! Ballotin! Rivulet! champagne!). The main complaint I had, as with most events of this size and nature, is the dearth of trash receptacles. One only has so much carrying-in-one's-hand-space. I was always looking around for a place to get rid of my empties. The food that was available was great as well! BBQ, a mac & cheese bar, sushi, and sweets! I don't know if I could pick a favorite....but a build-your-own mac and cheese *IS* a pretty awesome idea! More live music, dancing, and gorgeous outfits donned by all...an exceptional party and a spectacular time! I was lucky enough to attend as someone's plus one at no cost to myself...but I would ABSOLUTELY buy tickets for next year's event! With what you get just by being there...it is more than worth the price of entry! I hope I have the opportunity to attend next year!

So many people dressed the part and looked great! We arrived right before the VIP hour started at 6:00pm. The check in process outside was kind of a cluster. We stood in line outside to have our IDs checked and wristbands applied but the staff were confused on the process. When we finally entered the event a staff handed us a ticket but didn't say anything about the ticket. I asked the staff upstairs in the VIP area about the ticket but she didn't know what it was for. We enjoyed the bourbon cocktail, champagne, and hors d'oeuvre's. Photo booths are my favorite and I was excited to see one there. Around 6:40pm we asked the upstairs staff if we could go downstairs to start sampling... she told us to go ahead and that everything was open to us. On our arrival downstairs the staff told us that we had to go back up to the VIP area until 7:00pm. I wish we could have had a small window to sample the food and drinks before the general admission ticket holders arrived. I really enjoyed the pork and broccoli salad from Martins BBQ. I had several of the chocolate martinis from Four Roses. I loved the little martini glasses that the chocolate martinis were served in. My fiancé enjoyed stamping his own ice with the roses stamp for his bourbon on the rocks. I was excited to see Titos there with two drinks. I tried the cranberry mule and it was very refreshing. I felt like the space was a little too small for the amount of people there. It was hard to navigate around people to try everything. On our way out we finally figured out where to turn in our tickets for the VIP bag. The VIP bag included 2 glasses and a set of Clayton & Crume leather coaster. Overall we had a good time at the event but I was surprised at how disorganized it was in it's 6th year. I would attend Louisville Swig event again but I don't know if I would pay full price for the VIP. I would definitely pay for the VIP if we had access to everything before the official event started. Thank you to Yelp for my tickets to this event.

The giant golden statue stands outside in front of 21C Museum Hotel on Main Street (who, btw, also owns the statue) which probably turns heads in downtown Louisville... the statue was one of many kinds of street art and statues on Main Street.
