Swimming Pools of Tupelo & More Superstore

After two years as customers of Swimming Pools of Tupelo, we are ending our relationship with this…read morecompany because of repeated service problems, questionable chemical charges, billing issues, contradictory information, and the unacceptable way I was treated when I went there to resolve our account. Throughout the past two years, we have had ongoing issues with the pool not being cleaned properly. We have also been charged for chlorine tablets, shock, and other chemicals that were not left at our property and, based on the condition of the pool, did not appear to have been added as claimed. Most recently, we were told that 14 pounds of shock had been added to our pool and were charged approximately $300. The pool had been fine beforehand, yet within a week it was completely green. It is difficult to understand how a professionally maintained pool could turn green that quickly after supposedly receiving 14 pounds of shock. The company recently changed billing systems and informed customers that balances remaining in the old system had to be paid by a certain deadline or they could be sent to collections. I went to the business specifically to pay the old balance and resolve the account. Instead of receiving assistance, I was immediately met with hostility. The attitude toward me changed as soon as the person heard my last name. I was completely caught off guard by how aggressive, dismissive, and unwilling to help she became. The interaction was so unprofessional that I pulled out my phone and began recording it. During the recorded interaction, I was initially told that the woman involved was not an employee. That explanation later changed, and they acknowledged that she was an employee. Both statements cannot be true. The information I received was inconsistent and repeatedly changed during the conversation. Instead of reviewing the account, explaining what happened, or accepting the possibility that an error occurred during their billing-system transition, they blamed my wife and me. My wife had already gone in earlier that week to make a payment, yet we were blamed because the payment was not properly applied. A customer should not be responsible for a business failing to correctly apply a payment in its own billing system. They controlled the records, accepted the payment, changed the billing system, and were responsible for applying everything correctly. Rather than acknowledging that an internal mistake may have occurred, they pushed the responsibility entirely onto us. I did not go there looking for an argument. I went there to pay a balance before their stated deadline and resolve the issue. Instead, I was treated with hostility, denied reasonable assistance, blamed for their internal billing problems, and given information that contradicted what had already been said. I also felt singled out from the moment my last name was mentioned. Whatever the reason for that reaction, no customer should be treated with immediate hostility simply because an employee recognizes their name or account. I have now requested complete statements showing every service visit, payment, chemical charge, and the exact quantity of chemicals they claim were added during the two years we used this company. Based on our experience, I strongly encourage customers to carefully review every invoice and verify that the services and chemicals they are being charged for were actually provided. The video of the interaction is more than 20 minutes long, and I intend to release it in its entirety. I will not post selective clips or remove portions that may provide context. People will be able to hear the complete exchange, see how the situation was handled, and decide for themselves whether this is a company they want to do business with. After two years of poor service, questionable charges, billing problems, contradictory statements, customer blame, and the mistreatment I experienced in person, I cannot recommend Swimming Pools of Tupelo.
