Our host is on the board of directors and he was able to give us a very nice tour of the facilities. There is something for everyone! Besides golf and tennis and the usual, there is a 21 plus section of the pool along with a bar and bar service. There are ample spots for kids and families, not just at the pool, but also a separate family oriented dining area and playroom set up for the children. The fitness center has state of the art equipment. The only downside is that space is limited, physically the grounds can't expand and parking can be at a premium. Our meal was excellent, soft shell crab with poblano and sweet peppers over grits for me and a half size wedge salad with added grilled shrimp for my wife. We enjoyed a perfect evening at this club.

The scenery along the lake is beautiful and on many holes you are greeted with a view of the lake. The course is good but not so hard it makes it too difficult. I was really impressed with the staff in the proshop as well as the cafe in the club house. If you get a large soft drink they refill it for the day at no charge so you can get a refill at the turn then again as you finish. On a 95 degree day like it was for us today the free refills was very much appreciated. Overall this is a great course and one of the very best public courses in the state.

The layout is unique and challenging without ever becoming frustrating, and I genuinely loved playing it. Unfortunately, there were some major operational issues. The biggest was the complete lack of water or refreshments on a day when the heat index reached 109 degrees. There was no water available anywhere on the course, no cart service, the snack bar was closed, and all three bathhouses had their water turned off. In that kind of heat, having absolutely no access to water on the course is unacceptable and potentially dangerous. The other major issue was the lack of starters and rangers. We discovered that a group with a tee time after ours had simply gone out ahead of us. There didn't seem to be anyone controlling the order, so people essentially went whenever they wanted. The round ended up taking almost five hours, and despite one group noticeably holding everyone up, there wasn't a single ranger on the course to address the pace of play. It's frustrating because the golf course itself is outstanding. I loved the layout and would absolutely play it again, especially considering the price. But a course this good deserves much better management. With basic amenities, a starter, and someone monitoring pace of play, this could easily be one of the best golf experiences in Georgia.

Although we confirmed only the guys would be golfing, we were confronted at the FIRST HOLE by the worker from inside who was just "making sure" the girls weren't playing. We were confronted after the second hole and asked why we were golfing together. We were not, and had not been together since before the first hole. Then around hole 5, the same worker was HIDING IN THE WOODS on a golf cart, watching us. Only the people who paid to golf, golfed. We followed every rule and were made to feel like absolute criminals. I almost went inside after we finished to ask them what we did wrong, but decided not to. Save your time and money, there are plenty of golf courses around.

Well yes, it's a private golf club but this feels more like spending time with the part of the…read morefamily you like. The course is a fun a playable course. Well setup for all levels of play. And it is rare that pace of play is ever an issue (unless you are behind me). Good sized greens with the right amount elevation change to add challenge but not make you feel like you are putting through a windmill. Most of fairways are wide and open and bunkers are placed so you have a choice to take a chance and go for it or play it safe. Two pools with service. One is adults only but bathing suites required. Water fall from the top, adult pool, down into the family pool. Club house is not stuffy but the right amount of elegance that fits for both enjoying a night with the family, having a party or entertaining for business. Well, I guess we can't forget the food. I'm not big on all the strange l, trendy concoctions. But the head chef knows how to create a memorable meal that I wonder if I'll like it and am never disappointed. Now I know to trust him. Recently, and the menu changes, they added a cola chicken nachos that I will stop off on the way home after a long day just for that. And if the Clam Chowder is the soup of the day then it's a combo meal for me with a bowl of chowder to go. If all you are looking is for some drinks then you won't be disappointed.
