I think they have sent me to collections three times now for bills I didn't know i had. I settle up when I leave, and then there's more charges. I call to take care of those charges, but it doesn't take care of them. And all of a sudden, without any notice, I'm in collections for some bill I had no idea I owed for a visit I had 1.5 years ago. It's crazy. My wife has a separate account, same problems. My wife had never been in collections before Manatee dental. Ridiculous. I am done.

They had plenty of time to notify me of this price before my appt. I left. No sooner | get home and I get a text saying I missed my appt.(I didn't) The photos below show my exchange. I get a letter today 7/19 saying they will no longer see me which I already told them I'd never be back. They did not date the letter but the envelope was dated 7/17. They sent this out after I already told them I wouldnt be back. The office lady Linda is rude, unprofessional and apparently petty for sending me a letter knowing I'd never be back. I can see why all the nice dentists who worked there quit. You get a different dentist every visit. The office lady (Linda) is one of the most immature, unprofessional people l've ever encountered. Dr. Opps is a complete sheister!…read moreWent in for initial intake and onboarding as a new patient so I needed a few exrays and I had some pain from 2 broken teeth one being so broken and decayed that the "treatment plan" for that particular tooth ended with a referral to an oral surgeon for extraction. The other broken tooth was inspected by Opps and he laid out a very CLEAR "treatment plan"which included a referral to an endontist to get a root canal, then I was to follow back up with Dr. Opps to get a crown put on the tooth. I secured a appt with endontist and when I went to the endontist appt the endontist said: "we can do a root canal, but you honestly only have about a 50/50 shot of saving this tooth with a crown! I was in shock! WHAT!?? So, in my initial appt after evaluating my tooth and creating a "treatment plan" Dr Opps NEVER mentioned that there would be a potential problem getting a crown! Keep in mind dentists are trained and ABLE to perform ROOT CANALS themselves and a qualified proficient dentist should be able to tell whether you're a candidate for a crown or not and certainly a better outcome prediction of a 50/50 chance!!!! The endontist office took a special type of xray upon my arrival (that my insurance did not cover) and that coupled with the fact that I walked in the door on referral from Dr Opps. COST ME OVER $600 from my dental insurance MAXIMUM for the year that I could have used on ACTUAL SERVICES THAT I COULD HAVE GOTTEN COMPLETED, as I do have some tiny cavities and I'm in need of a deep cleaning as well!!! I left the endontist's office in shock and disma!!! Why go through a root canal for a 50/50 chance of saving my tooth with a crown!??? I opted to NOT get a root canal and have the tooth in question extracted because 50/50 chance of saving it was not worth going through a ROOT CANAL only to possibly be told sorry a crown won't work!!! I was heavily disappointed and absolutely felt taken advantage of as again this man's "care plan" WASTED WELL OVER $600 of my insurance benefit for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! I went back to Dr Opps at Smiles the next day to speak to someone in the business office because I could not believe the amount of money this man's blatant IGNORANCE, INCOMPETENCE, and/or GREED cost me! Meghan the office manager at Smiles of LWR took me to an empty office and we spoke behind a closed door, and I explained my dissatisfaction of what had taken place and the fact that I wanted those BOGUS CHARGES at least credited back to me since he led me on a wild goose chase! I figured at least with that credit back I could utilize it for services I COULD GET! ... Dr Opps enters the small office and closed the door behind him. This man basically told me "there's ALWAYS a chance a procedure may not work out." Well there is also a "chance" I could get hit by a bus crossing the street but I don't play in traffic with a blindfold on so there's that!! I explained that I feel that a 50/50 chance was a pretty steep chance to take not only FINANCIALLY but submitting myself to a root canal that very well would not result in a crown after all!!! He said "SORRY YOU FEEL THAT WAY AND BTW FIND A NEW DENTIST BECAUSE I DONT FEEL COMFORTABLE TREATING A PATIENT THAT IS UPSET WITH ME!" I could not believe this man's AUDACITY! All new office staff came with the new dentist (Dr Moates) and they are not kind nor professional. My daughter had a composite put on her front tooth for covering a hypoplasia spot. Dr Moates said it was a simple fix and was absolutely positive it would cover the discoloration. He began to grind down the area and added the composite then grinded it again to smooth it down which took off the composite color that he had added. He looked at me and said "sorry I thought it was going to work but she can come back and I'll try it again". He never once asked my daughter if she could feel it when he was grinding on the tooth and she later told me she could so of course she's frightened to go back for him to "try it again". During my visit- he voiced his opinion that he did not agree with the small piece of wiring (permanent retainer) put in by Dr Sellepan, after having Invisalign, so he refused to re-do it and referred me to an orthodontist because he said he doesn't do that type of stuff. I called the office about 15 min later -regarding the experience my daughter had and that I thought it was unfair my insurance was charged and I had to pay a fee on top of it. I asked to speak to the office manager, the office staff blatantly lied and said she had left an hour ago- when she was there before we had left. She told me she would have her call me back, which never happened. I called the next week, the office manager was kind and said she would file a dispute but she doubted it would go anywhere because the service was provided even though the outcome wasn't what the dentist so confidently claimed would work. She said she'd call me back when she got a response about the dispute and she never did. I will never go back to that office for the lack of professionalism of staff and poor care of the dentist.

My significant other went in for a cleaning (which was covered by his insurance) and they presented him a list of other things that they wanted him to sign first and pay. When he asked what's this for, they told him his insurance didn't pay for this. He got up out of the chair and walked out. I have very good Dental insurance and I checked with them and I half two cleaning a year that are 100% covered. I asked to speak the dentist that owns the office Dentist Janielle Silliman to speak with her about this and was told she was not there . I replied that she has an office where pts are being seen and she is not present. I was told no she is not here and I can not contact her for you I have worked in the medical field for many years as an RN and I have never witnessed such poor pt care and customer service . I am writing this to warn others of these poor practice's for this dental office . Also I would not trust any of my friends and family member's to them for dental care .What if something happened with you or your loved one and the Dentist Janielle Silliman was not there to over see there condition and make clinical judgements to possibly save there life ?
