A Message That Missed the Heart of Jesus…read more I attended hoping to be pointed to Christ, but the sermon felt heavy with judgment rather than hope. I believe the pastor loves the Lord, but the tone left many of us feeling more condemned than invited. Scripture gives us this beautiful promise: "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). And Jesus Himself taught us to love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:31)--not to shame them, but to draw them close. If you heard this message and felt discouraged, please know this: God's love for you is not based on your performance. He runs toward the prodigal, welcomes the weary, and never turns away a broken heart. You are safe in His hands. I share this with genuine love for this church and its leaders. My hope is that future sermons will reflect more of Christ's compassion and less of human harshness. We are all growing, and grace covers us all.

Sometimes its easy to get carried away in the details and miss the point. "I loved the message... I really know a friend who needs to hear that." Pastor Scott mentioned he hears this so often... "So And So really needs to hear this." The whole thing about universal messages are that they are for you and for me and for So And So... and for EVERYBODY. Angelic Christmas Carols this year I think with the help of an affiliate church. Very special and beautiful - as beautiful as the message if you fully understand it. No, no... this year if you were present your not just going to remember the loud, festive and colorful outfit the pastor wore but also the simple but powerful message. For the Valley for the world is the motto. I like that very much. Often its so easy to get hung up with "for myself, for my family." Its a great and constant reminder. I believe Christmas Day and Christmas Eve is a great time to visit this church. There are so many dates and times that something will be sure and fit your schedule.

It's a beautiful church and quite large, but they didn't fill the space with people very well. I understand there needs to be some room to maneuver, but there were at least 50 people at the back spilling out the doors outside. They need to use the space better to fit more people inside. They also don't seem to have air conditioning, which is problematic. The service was nice, but hard to hear most of the time. They had a 9 and 9:15 mass option, one in the main church and one in another building. I'm not sure why they didn't implement that option for the 11 am mass. I'll continue to come here for services when I visit. I hope they can make some changes for masses where many people come, like Easter.

Due to my past experience with church, I was extremely careful about which church I would be exploring. Reluctant even, finding any little reason not to join. After playing with our kids at Civic Park one afternoon, I literally saw the "signs". There were 3-4 Open Table Church signs setup at Civic Park providing enough information to pique my interest. Even then, I was hesitant to jump in immediately and wanted to research the church online before just walking in. The church was in its infancy, no over the top productions, a simple church that was there to put God first, to fellowship with other believers, and to study the Word. The church is open to those who are both new to exploring a relationship with Jesus and to those who want to continue to develop a stronger relationship with Jesus. The entire church plan and vision was laid out in front of me and I couldn't find any reason not to explore it further. My first day, I was welcomed with open arms by Ann Cooley. Pastor Wayne introduced himself to me and was interested in hearing more about my history and my interest in exploring Open Table Church. I was moved by the worship music lead by the awesome Wes Cooley, I was fascinated by Wayne's delivery of the message, and I fell in love with the OTC Community. God was telling me that this was the place for me to be. This was my new home where I can continue to develop my relationship with Him. It was also the perfect church to introduce to my wife and our kids who had little to no relationship with God and no history with a church. We have each found a home at OTC and it is now a part of our family.
