The Rock gives us the Bible for today's world. They're not afraid to talk about the hard truths happening - which is what we, anyway, appreciate. If you are easily offended or looking for traditional boring readings and scripture - this is not the place for you. They keep it real, entertaining, fun and relatable. Pastor Rick Fry is awesome. The kids program top notch - kids look forward to going. My kids went to youth group every Wednesday, they are 23 and 27 now and they just told us that they learned more from their Wednesday youth pastors than anyone else, because they can relate and know what today's kids are up against. The music...second to none. I'm Catholic, my husband is Christian, we have one girl that's going the catholic route, but loves the Rock, our other daughter is going the Christian route - Catholic masses are too boring for her too and doesn't feed her soul. If you want to be coddled and feel warm and fuzzy instead of hearing God's truth, then come for the awesome worship then leave . The presence of the Holy Spirit is palpable. Attended for 14 years under Ron Pinkston - so anointed and loves Jesus. Left the church after Rick Fry arrived. it's like tell me he didn't just say that from the pulpit - over & over again. But don't confront him in love because he will walk away or he will delete your email and be glad if you leave - he said so in his sermons. I've gone to this church now about 5 times and I have come to the conclusion that this church is not for me. The two stars are solely for Worship. The musicians are extremely talented and I love them. It's unfortunate that I won't be able to hear them again though... The reason I sought a new church was because I moved and needed to find a new church home. My old church was absolutely amazing and they made it known that they accept anyone and to "come as you are". Well, this church seems to be the opposite unfortunately....This past service was a little offensive to me and my beliefs. The pastor basically said that if you're not like what the Bible says you need to be it's wrong and you need to follow the word. I thought well surely I must have misunderstood what he was saying maybe? Turns out I didnt misunderstand..after the service I spoke to some people as I usually do to go over the service and they actually brought it up before me!They were new and this was their first service and felt just as offended. They said they wouldn't be going back either.. Anyway, I surely hope the pastors kids aren't "different" otherwise I feel like they wouldnt be accepted...everyone should be able to love who they love and also a believer in God if they want. Anyway, its a shame that the pastor would say these types of things to a whole church but I'm guessing it's not the first time and everyone who is there and loyal probably believes the same... I will pray for this Chruch and it's members and hope they find love and acceptance in their hearts. read more

Our family absolutely LOVES this church and its Pastoral Staff. Pastor Rick's fearles approach to God's word and loving approach to the community is what drew us here. One of the most ignorant and dysfunctional organizations I have ever known. Advice given to innocent seekers is probably the worst of which I've ever heard; one ended in the death of a very innocent person. This is not a place where the average minister receives a master of divinity but at the best a Bible college education. Sermons are not rational but from the hip with very poor biblical interpretation. The church has gone through several names, perhaps to cover up bad press on the old names but the new names keep getting worse. I would never ever suggest that anybody go to this place. The Rock is a blessed place, full of the presence of God, Biblically sound teaching, spirit-filled worship, a gifted and anointed ministry team, and kind, loving people. Pastor Rick is really funny (cracks me up sometimes), but he also challenges and touches us with the truth of the Word. Entering the sanctuary, you can feel the presence of God. Music is awesome! Worship and prayer is alive- with hands and hearts raised, seeking His presence. If you desire to deepen your spiritual walk even further, the prayer room is open daily. The church also has a Discipleship program that will knock your socks off. This program impacted my lifetime walk with Jesus in the most positive, healing way. You walk differently after, and I cannot recommend Discipleship highly enough. I've seen The Rock change a lot over the years- from when it was East Bay Fellowship till now. Looking back, it seems God used each wonderful pastor to train and prepare the way for the next- to grow the congregation spiritually over time- and now the Holy Spirit is really moving- it is truly exciting to see this unfold! Come and visit, you will love it! Connecting tip: People are very loving and kind here, and it's a good-sized church, so you will find friendship and connection. But to connect with people as friends, you need regular time with them. So if you feel that this could be your church, I would suggest you join a community group, class, or help in one of the ministries. The church has been phenomenal at keeping church and community at the forefront. They immediately ramped up online services (Pandemic-driven) and began improving their video and audio by the 2nd week. They are friendly and make everyone feel at home. The Discipleship Program has launched in the last few years and has completely changed the faith and prayer of the congregation. The Rock Church, what can I say... What can't I say enough about wonderful place of worship! I wandered into the church, formerly known as East Bay Four Square, a little over 5 years ago. I was looking for something for my family but didn't really know what yet. A place to go on Sundays? A place for me to reconnect my faith? What I found was more than I ever expected. From the very 1st time I entered the church I was welcomed with open arms and smiling faces. I was ushered into a place where I felt like I was...home. Definitely not the church I was forced to go to on Easter Sundays and Christmas where everyone just sat and stood and sat and stood mumbling passages under their breath like it was some sort of thing they had been doing for years. No that is definitely not the experience I had when entering the church. The doors opened and the church erupted into song and prayer! People were on their feet with their hands raised high into the sky singing and praising loudly! Although a bit shocked at 1st, that this wasent the way church was growing up, I knew I wanted what these people had! I not only found a place to reconnect to God, I found a place that I love to come to. I can't speak to the church service itself, but I went to this site today for a blood drive by the Red Cross and found it to be vary disheartening that several members of the congregation who were outside the blood drive area without masks, and not physical distancing. The area was being used as public place. The blood drive went great, and the folks inside did a great job being masked up and properly spaced. It would have been greatly appreciated if those outside recognized the State order to maintain physical distancing and to wear masks in public spaces. read more

We've been attending The Rock for 28 years. We raised our 2 daughters in this church and can say, without reservation, this church is everything one would hope a church to be. We have seen four pastors through those 28 years and I uttered to my wife the other day; "I don't think I have seen this church in a healthier place than it is today." And it has had some incredible years. Jesus used this church to save our marriage, heal broken hearts, challenge us to dive deeper in our relationship with Jesus and feel welcome each and every time we've come. We've, in jest said "The Rock has saved our lives". The church has made such an impact that our daughters yearn for the teaching and to be there and while at college pine to come home to go to church. We love Pastor Rick, Billy, Matt, Jen, Allan, Victor and all that came before them - Pastor Tolle, Pinkston, Hanes, and all the friends who have come and gone. The Rock Church is the real thing and I have been going since early 2018. All the Pastors, staff, volunteers, and all attendees are amazing! During the pandemic they have reached out to their members to make sure they were doing well and have provided great online services. They are like family! Religi-tainment at its best It's a total feel-good experience. It's like a freakin cruise ship there. There's a 5 piece band, popcorn, a video game arcade with air hockey, a coffee bar, giant projection screens, comfy chairs, cool colored lights and a leggy blonde singer. I think next month they're getting lasers and a fog machine. If regular church is broccoli, this place is a Twinkie. So good, but don't look too close at the ingredients. A couple of complaints though... I had a little trouble focussing on my spiritual development with the constant distraction of the light and sound show not to mention unclean thoughts about the lady singer. Also. Too much yappity yapp. They don't leave you more than 2 seconds for meditation. The video ads for hats, books, DVDs etc that play throughout the service (show) reminded me of why I don't like going to the movies anymore. Top it off with a guy doing a sales pitch for f'in hats during a religious event is a little crass. They need a crosswalk from the parking lot to the building complex. Thou shalt not run down thy neighbor isn't in the 10 commandments. All in all... Nobody leaves here unhappy and if you need a little boost, and want someone else to do the heavy lifting for you, check this place out. read more

Our family has attended EBF (with the exception of about 2 1/2 years) since 1999. We've been there through two name changes and three head pastors. Before I make this next comment I fully recognize that every church has it's issues...however...our church is THE BOMB!!...in a good way! Our not so new head pastor is phenomenal. His vision for our church aligns with what so many of us have been praying for all these years...authenticity, priority on loving each other, and most importantly to draw near to the heart of God. I can honestly say I have so much respect for all layers of our church leadership now, and that is huge! The other thing that's awesome is that the sermons each week are spot on and usually hilarious...my 12-year-old actually likes sitting in "big church" once in awhile! There's something for everyone: great message, great worship, great youth program, great children's program, great people, and a beautiful facility to encounter Jesus. read more

I have been attending the church since 2018. The staff is absolutely amazing. They have a place for ALL ages. (not joking) I would highly recommend attending this church. I am so thankful that Pastor Rick teaches nothing but the truth. The online services are almost as good as being in person! (missing the social interaction, obviously) The media team has been doing such a great job making sure everything is running smoothly for in person and online services. DH and I visited this church and another church and out of both, we enjoyed this one the most. We liked their children's ministry. The preacher is very relatable, conveys the message in an applicable manner, and doesn't pull any punches: he says it how it is. I grew up attending church, DH did not, so I know what to expect and what I do and don't like when being preached to. I want to apply the Bible to my life, I want to understand the message God conveys through the scriptures, and I want suggestions on how to improve my walk with God. This church covers most of these items. The singing is pretty good and very emotional...the lyrics are touching and one of the main singers is pretty moving when she sings. We haven't attended with such frequency where we know the congregation and have initiated any fellowship. The only other people we know is the couple that introduced us to this church. It is my hope DH and I can build friendships in this Church for our and DD's spiritual growth. read more

I've gone here several times since they've become "The Rock" and all they care about is the offering. In a matter of 1 minute they brought up the offering 8 times. This place used to be fun to come to because they cared about the message and god but now...money. Thats ALL they care about. So devastating that they used to love god in front of people and people in front of god and now its money before people. You guys get so much from the offering and have asked for more so the bathrooms can be renovated. How much do you people need to take from innocent people trying to hear the word of god? Change your tune. Go back to being the christian rock church you used to be. Has anyone there noticed NO OLD FACES FROM THE LAST 10 YEARS. Because everyone who used to enjoy East Bay Fellowship has left because the rock isnt a good church anymore. I wish i could only give a half star but thats not an option. Have a blessed sunday. You know, i read the previous reviews an I was appalled. The leggy singer and her Pastor husband John are no longer at our church. We do not sell items from the pulpet. We GIVE a book away to those who just received the LORD. Our new Pastor Rick and his wife Cindy are here now for about 6 months and all they want is to save soulds for Christ and to let the Holy Spririt guild our lives to help others in our community for the betterment. We have a wonderful program open to any one who would like to come duriing the hours of 4am to 6pm M-F to pray and worship at our church. Our services are lead by the Spirit with a wonderfully talented band who will bring you to tears if you need to go there and be washed with love and hope. The word is preached from the BIBLE. I hope you give our church a try. The kids programs are great too. We have recently had a turn around in ministry and I think the energy is highly and heavenly appointed. read more

We are minorities and do not live in Danville, but still feel very welcome.
