I went to New Life for several years. An incident happened that made me never go back. Via satellite, Pastor Doug started going on a diatribe about how transgender and gay weren't a thing, they were the work of the devil. There was a transgender woman in the audience who stood up, sobbing and asked how people could listen to this. She was physically escorted out by staff. Crystal, Doug's wife, who was in the audience, sat the entire time staring ahead. I followed her out as well as another woman. We were trying to comfort her while she was surrounded by staff. It was tragic to watch. I went back and got my things once the woman left and sat outside with the woman who tried to comfort her. She said that she works as Neonatal ICU nurse but was not allowed to volunteer in Sunday school because she was gay. This is homophobic to a disgusting degree. I'm aghast that such discrimination is still allowed. God is love and this was the furthest thing I could imagine for demonstrating love. read more

New Life Church has been such a blessing to my family. We have been attending for 2 years now and we LOVE it. Every week I'm uplifted through worship and challenged and encouraged through the teaching from Pastor Doug. The icing on the cake is what New Life does for the whole family. I have a 2 boys (2 and newborn) and I can't tell if the kids team loves my kids more or my boys love the kids team more. I also hear they have a great student ministry... When I walked through the doors at New Life Church I was far away from God and living the ways of the world. This is a bible teaching church that raised my faith from nothing to everything. Through connecting with fellow believers and joining women's bible study my life slowly began transforming. Pastor Crystal and Cathy took the time to invest in me as a leader and pour into me that I had never experienced before... I was 9 months pregnant when I first came to the church, my sons have been a part of the kid's ministry since the day they were born and that was 10 years ago! Pastor Carrie and her team in the kid's ministry are amazing women of God who love what they do and it shows! They love KIDS!!! I started attending with my ex husband who has an addiction problem. It seemed like they were desperate for new members, the service we attended for a few months was like being at the recording of a TV show. Different pastors lead the service every week. One week the was Jona. He started saying how we don't want our men to be, one of them being 'drunk ass', his words. We came for inclusion and guidance, not ridicule. I think the reason many attend church is for healing because we're not perfect. Imperfections were ridiculed. What a nasty wounding sting. Needless to say we didn't go again. read more

Doug H owns this Church and it seems like every time you go there he's asking for money. This is a family business for him which shows. Now that his son is starting to preach. He takes vehicles that are donated to the church and keeps them for him self. Don't people want to know how much he pays himself every year? There's no board that governs this Church it's just Doug and his wife. Claiming to be doing Gods work. I hope you followers know you're paying for his 5000 sq ft cabin in the woods. Ask him about that! We moved out of the area and he sent a letter to us asking for more money. The letter wasn't even forwarded by the post office. Be aware of the scam in Gods name. New Life Church has changed how I feel about religion. I was one of those kids who had to go to Sunday school and then sermons until I was in my teens. I had to dress up in the Sunday best etc. yuck, I hated it. Consequently for most of my adult life I've avoided all religious gatherings and events and services. I was introduced to NLC by a friend who has been going for 10 years. She swore it wasn't the churches from my past. Wear jeans, bring your coffee in, meet new people sing upbeat songs, relax and enjoy the message. That was a year ago. I've attended almost every Sunday since. The Pastors always give a meaningful, uplifting message with real life mixed in and humor. Oh and wear your jeans and flip flops, the Pastor does! I'm not sure I believe all of what's in the Bible as I'm a scientist at heart and educated in biology. However, each message is uplifting, inspiring and positive. After visiting this church every week for 5 months I felt really disappointed. 1)The Pastor preaches every other week from a TV/ screen monitor out of Dublin. So he doesn't even know my name and is not there for his Sheep. People don't seem to connect neither. 2) 90% of their money is spent on "planting or remodeling buildings" which makes me think this is a Real Estate business more than the only 10% spent on missions. Red flag to me. Just look into their website. 3) My son went to their Christian Camp for 5 days and when he got back he told me he had not showered or brushed his teeth since the first day. I paid $420 for this camp. It's not free and I was shocked no one seemed to take care of the kids and just expect kids to take care of themselves. 4) The final drop was that I spoke to the second pastor. He said he was going to get back to me during the week. I approached him 2 weeks after and he said he was putting some kind of resources for me and never got back to me. 5) Besides that, they SELL literature in the church, and offer courses for a fee. Seems more like a business than a church. 6) Too loud and too much music, more than Bible explanation. Get down to the FREE Bible studies and Missions you guys. Do what you are really meant to do. I am a regular attendee of new life in Alamo. After being in deep depression my friend dragged me there. I sat alone for a year loving the worship band and praises to the Lord. Through the music and teachings, I am a new man, and that was five years ago. We , as I am now a volunteer, welcome all, and really try to be like Jesus loving all who attend. I have been going to NLC since the Dublin campus opened! I have found lifelong friends that are supportive of all my endeavors! I have had the pleasure to serve in the children and youth ministry since the dublin campus opened. Serving on Sunday has been a joy to me! I see the youth learn the love of God and speak about God. Worship was great before they lost their worship leader a few months ago. The message is always about money and giving to the church. If you try to volunteer or lead a small group they make you sign a form that says you promise to give 10% of your income to the church. Message is weak and watered down. Pastor and his wife dress in very expensive outfits and come off insincere and fake. The only reason they got two stars from me is because the kids program is AWESOME. Bottom line, oaky church if you are from that community and make 250k a year. read more

Started at the Alamo location 3+ yrs ago by attending a Ladies pm Bible Study. The women were so warm and welcoming that after 4 yrs of searching for a home church I knew I was home. When New Life opened up their satellite location in San Ramon I was thrilled. Just over the hill for me. Now I have a choice of attending Saturday night service or 5 different services on Sunday. If you miss a weekly service you can go on-line and listen/watch on their website. I have gone here a few times with my sister. It's her home church and I know it's been great for her - a lot of support and events for young adults, which is something I've found to be pretty lacking in most churches I've attended. The worship is AWESOME, which is a huge plus for me. Sometimes it feels a little glossy and like the church of the beautiful people . . . but I'm always a little suspicious of really nice buildings and technology and a million service times. New Life Church feels like a little piece of home to my 3 children and myself. Pastors preach the Truth, straight from the Bible.

I've been going on and off to this church since 2010. But after a terrible situation with their church staff at their 5:30 service today, I won't be coming anymore and I couldn't recommend this church to anyone in good faith. Two separate problems happened here that I will address: Back in 2014, (About 3 years ago), my mother and I went to a morning service (Alamo campus) with my mom's service dog (Chihuahua) that is fully trained. When we entered the service, one of the ushers, told me mom that "no dogs" were allowed, and my mom told him that he was her service dog. We entered into the service again, but this time he grabbed my mom's arm and pushed her out the entrance door. I was there and I couldn't believe it! That was assault and after the service we talked to the assistant Pastor at the time, "Gary" and explained the situation to him. Then the usher saw us talking to Gary about the matter after the service and he storms into and interrupts the conversation with Pastor Gary. He refused to apologize for what he had done. No church usher should ever get physical, no exceptions, no matter what the issue. He was not disciplined by the church for his behavior. Prior to that situation, we had brought our service dog to this church for a couple years with no issues or complaints. We were upset and hurt with how we were treated but we moved on. We kept coming to services time to time with my mom's service dog with no issues after that until now. What happened on 4/2/17 was the last straw. My mom and I were about 15 minutes late for the 5:30 pm service and my mom had brought her service dog with her again. We were a approached by a young girl who was a volunteer "greeter" who is suppose to great people as they enter church. She noticed my mothers service dog, and she told us that dogs weren't allowed. We explained to her that he was a service dog and that we had brought him to church several times. She started to raise her voice and become aggressive, and she demanded that we showed her papers of him being a service dog. I told her and had to educate her that they cannot demand to see service dog paperwork and that they are only allowed to ask two questions, Is he a service dog, and what support or actions does he provide? This applies to all places that have large amounts of people within a store, business, church, etc. By this point she was very rude and she was trying to prevent us from going into the service. I told her that I'm not going to go all the way home and comeback while missing the service. She also has no authority what so ever to demand to see any paperwork. Her job is to greet and welcome people to the service, nothing else. She wanted to continue to argue with us in the lobby and at that point there was no reason to continue arguing with her so we went into the service and by that point she storms off by us and threatens to call the police on us and to go and complain to the new assistant pastor. We sat in the very back row and ironically we were sitting next to that same usher who physically assaulted my mother 3 years prior. He wasn't an usher that evening. He was sitting with his wife. He recognized us and my mom's service dog, and he randomly left his wife in the service and he was gone for around 30-40 min and I was thinking that was odd. It turns out later, that he left to go and complain about us to the new assistant paster behind our back while the service was going on. We did nothing wrong and our service dog didn't bark and was well behaved. That was very cowardly to not talk to us face to face if he continues to have an issue with us. About 2/3 into the service, the new assistant paster named Ray approached us and he escorted us out of the service. He said that he wanted to talk about what had happened. We have never met him before so we introduced ourselves. Right when he sat down with us in another room, he said to us that this wasn't the first time that a problem involving us has come up suggesting that we were the trouble makers as if we were the ones the caused all of this. He doesn't know us, and he obviously listened to all of the lies from the Usher and that the volunteer greeter that told him about what happened. He tired to be as nice as he could be but he was a "yes man" for the church and protected the people that need to be held accountable. He told us that the church was private and had the right to turn away people if they wanted to, and that they could demand to see paperwork anytime that they wanted (even though there is no notice posted anywhere, and we have taken our service dog there several times).He ordered us to apologize to the volunteer or that we were not welcome to come back. We will not apologize for something we didn't do wrong. This church doesn't take any accountability for it's wrong doings, and this leadership and staff is seriously broken. I'm going to go to a new church, but I pray NLC puts God and people first, not power and money first. read more

My hubby and I have been going to New Life for several years. We enjoyed the experience from the very first visit. The music is great, the message is relevant and the people are warm and welcoming. We have become more and more involved as we go, including joining a "Life Group" with three other couples, doing Greeting once a month and going on several missions trips to Mexico. As with anything, you get out of it what you put in to it. It wasn't hard at all to get involved and meet some fantastic fellow seekers. Their motto "no church experienced required" says it all. There is something truly wrong with this church. It convinces people to give their money (clearly lots of $ based on this church) and lies to them about the way the world works. Belief in god is fine, but the whole creationists movement/myth is just outright lying. The earth is not 6,000 or 10,000 years old, endless amounts of data prove that fact. There is something sinister about convincing people to believe in something so strongly that they will balk at the facts. read more

First & Foremost I believe everyone is in titled to their opinion but what some of these negative reviews are saying and trying to portray of the paster and his wife are not true at all! I grew up in this church before it was as big as it is now. Our church started in the crow canyon movie theatre & I grew up with the pastors middle daughter Rachel we were the same age and went to the same school and she invited me and my family went and my brother and I loved it! It has always been kid friendly and oriented! I volunteer and teach the 3rd graders in kids town and they def. don't ask for 10% of your money because I currently am a stay @ home young parent who doesn't have a current income! They've never asked me for anything! What you give is an option to help the church because we are always growing and the money goes to helping make things like kids town better and more fun w/ exciting fun new activities all the time! The people here are great, respectful, friendly, honest people who believe in the word of God & want to teach us and just share their love for our Father! Like I mentioned every 1 is entitled to their own opinion but if you don't know what you're talking about please just don't say anything! read more
