The lunch time service was Time-Out market style cash-less, pleasant and the sweet crepe was cooked well and delivered promptly.
The crepe was served on a paper plate and filled with underripe banana (which I prefer and strawberry) and liberally slathered with a Belgian chocolate sauce.
The addition of banana and strawberries added £1 to the £6.5 price tag which is £2 over my local home place for similar.
I suppose it's Sale where disposable incomes are higher than many areas around but for that stonking price (the raw materials for crepes are very cheap) it doesn't take much more to get a Chinese take out meal or a great pizza at the nearby Bianco pizzeria, so it's not a bargain. In fact I can get a fiver lunch at the nearby Osechi Japanese.
I noted that no one else ordered a crepe while we were there.
I found the noise levels in the food market uncomfortably loud and I needed to shout to converse with my companion across the table.
As I write it's just struck me that I paid a £5 for an equally tasty crepe well filled with darn good prosciutto ham in tourist hot spot Venice just 2 weeks ago.
Would I return here and buy another - No and it's the price what did it, as I'm hot wired to being ripped off but I do wish them well, just not on my dime. read more
