They have a pretty standard breakfast menu with your typical french toast, pancakes, bagel, hash, scrambled eggs, etc. Between the four of us, we pretty much ordered the whole menu, which was great because that means I got to try a bit of everything. For myself I ordered the bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. It was good, but I don't think it was exactly what I was feeling that morning. I really enjoyed bites of their raspberry & white chocolate pancakes and frech toast though. I'd definitely recommend that if you've got a sweet tooth. On top of that, we got an assortment of different coffees and smoothies at our table. I went for a soy milk latte for myself and a strawberry banana smoothie. Both hit the spot perfectly. Service was a little spotty. Our waters were never really refilled (and on a hungover morning, endless water is a necessity), and our server looked a bit angry to be there. The manager came around to see how everything was doing though, which was great! They have a bakery on the other side of the restaurant (where you go to pay), and have an assortment of macarons, muffins, and other baked goods. Before we left, we got a small box of macarons to share and they were lovely! I can't remember all the flavours we got, but everything I tried was delicious. If you're in the University area, definitely a good spot to check out for a nice breakfast.

Even when I couldn't call in after school I would wave through the window. After not being in for a while, when I finally did I was made to feel very special. As he said I was a very polite, well mannered girl. The buns are most defiantly the best also at amazing prices. I would defiantly recommend this bakery to anyone!

They've got lots of little cakes and buns in the window to pull you in and the usual display cases with coconut rings, éclairs and jam tarts and apple pies and so forth to choose from. I got a cream-filled coconut finger with the traditional radioactive red jam blob on the top and it was MASSIVE and it was only 60p!!! I had to stop myself from buying anything else. The girl at the till was really pleasant too and made some conversation. I would call in here again soon, but I'm really starting to worry about my 'aul figure!

It's not much to look at (don't judge a book by its cover, eh?), and it's not like traditional ice cream parlours where you can see the different flavours of ice-cream, so I wasn't even sure what they offered. The various menus informed me that they offered apple and rhubarb pie, different ice-cream treats and the regular tubs / cones in honeycomb and vanilla. Mmmm... My sister went for a small honeycomb tub with chocolate sauce, which at 75p was 15p more expensive than vanilla, but still very reasonable I thought. I, on the other hand, opted for a vanilla 99, also with chocolate sauce. Mutters of "mmmm" and "oooh, this is good", amidst the crunches and licks reflected my sister's views on the matter, and my ten minute silence was enough to verify that this was indeed the best ice-cream I had ever tasted. And I'm not even a huge vanilla fan! Tummies filled to the brim, the two of us went on our way, knowing that we had tasted a little bit of heaven. Oooh the cheese...chocolate sauce with that?

I also took a few of the sugary treats home n my last trip. Giant dark chocolate cookies (when I say large I mean 7-8inches) and Turkish baklava. Both were fantastic but the baklava was possibly the most unhealthy thing I've eaten. Buttery oily soaked thin layers of pastry with walnuts and honey. Delicious but very very filling. Certainly worth a try if you're in the area.

As I said the free pastry deal required £3.45 for the offered coffee and my choice of an almond croissant but I wouldn't return here. M&S do a far better almond croissant for £1. So the PV coffee was good but not great. 3 star. The PV almond croissant was a doughy 2 star and would benefit from lightness and more almond it's more a croissant that may contain almond. The server and service were both grim and minus 5 star and no one should need training to be courteous and mannerly. I stood inside for a few minutes. the only customer, I could see the young lady who was doing something several feet away. I expected her to come along to serve me but as I stood and waited she continued whatever she was doing. So I cleared my throat and coughed and my my dimensions I'm not quiet and at 6' 4 I'm hard to miss. But no reaction and no service so I coughed again - a real bad flu type but nowt. After several minutes coughing and throat clearing I just said loudly hello. It worked but as she approached she offered no greeting, no smile it was simply what do you want, so I chose my pastry and she made the coffee and bagged to pastry all while looking around and it was as if I wasn't there. I paid and she returned to what she was doing and here's what bugged me and tipped it over. I walked to a table to put the bagged croissant into my rucksack and she loudly snarled at me to tell me I'd ordered takeaway and had to go - that's how it came across - as if I was stealing the sugar. I simply noted I was bagging up the croissant and she did not say anything more. I left thinking wow that's not acceptable and downright ill mannered. No wonder I was the only customer there for quite a time. I went into Hotel Chocolat a few minutes away joined a queue and got a great coffee and a warm welcome. If you like ill-mannered, unpleasant staff and shoddy treatment this PV store will be right up your street if your not asked to leave oh and if you don't the good news Is there's an alternative is two minutes away.

Regardless of what anyone says about this little place it will continue to make a small fortune. I can only imagine the profit margin on crepes, they sell for a reasonable £2 but cost next to nothing to make. I would give them a try if you something sweet to brighten your day but I would have a look elsewhere and avoid the queue too.
