Wanted to have a good experience with Crescenta Raingutters, since I see their truck(s) driving around almost every week. They seem to be a very local business, and I love to see their success. I had a fairly decent size rain gutter installation project at my house and gave them a call to get a quote. No response. I then tried 2 more times and left messages without a response. I then gave up. About 2 weeks later, I received a call back and the man left me a message. He told me that he was just "too busy" to take on any more projects and recommended a fellow in the area to give me a customized quote. I called his recommendation and a man came out to give me a price. The guy was very nice, but way too customized, makes everything by hand, and not in the ballpark at all for pricing. His prices were about 2 time more than any other quote I had received. Unfortunately this ended up being a waste of my time. It would have been great to have the job done by a local company, but I ended up using a nice guy located in West Covina. Seems like Crescenta Rain gutters has a good problem of too much work, and not enough staff. On one hand, that is good, but the recommendation was pretty poor. read more

Owner Dave Enslow came highly recommended from a trusted friend when I needed someone to repair a corner gutter joint on the garage of one of my rentals in December, 2010. A corner joint failure caused all of the runoff to pour from the second story roof onto the pavement right outside of my tenant's bedroom window. (Can we say Water Torture?) Once he had looked at the job, Mr. Enslow felt that the rest of the gutters should be serviced as well; re-nailed, flashing installed where needed, etc., to the tune of $300. It sounded very reasonable to me and I gave my okay. Over the next 1 1/2 years, we had virtually no appreciable rain, so I had no reason to question the quality of Mr. Enslow's work. That is, until we had an unseasonable downpour a couple of months ago and my tenant called the next morning to let me know that the same problem had come back. With high temperatures and no rain in sight, I waited until we completed a large painting job first and then began calling Mr. Enslow, leaving numerous messages about needing to have his repair repaired. Three weeks later, my husband finally received a callback from a man he thought was Mr. Enslow, and set an appointment for me to meet with him at 4:00 that afternoon. I was there a little early and took a walk around the property to check out what needed to be done. I was astounded to see that the gutters on 3 sides of the building were hanging on by 1 or 2 remaining nails, there was NO flashing installed and there was a gap over an inch wide between the roof edge and the gutters themselves. In essence, they were of little good at all. I could barely wait to discuss this problem with Mr. Enslow...but, instead, he sent a man named Andrew from another gutter company to assess the damage and do the repairs. Andrew's assessment of the gutters was the same as mine, it was a terrible job and should be redone completely, only correctly this time. Of course, I agreed with him, but then Andrew told me that he could do the work for over $400 dollars, including $187 for new flashing, which was missing but necessary to protect the ends of the eaves from moisture and runoff. I asked what kind of adjustment would then be made in the cost because the job was not done right in the first place. Why, no adjustment at all. It was not his responsibility to make the repairs that Mr. Enslow had made necessary. In fact, it was his opinion that the whole job should be removed and done anew, and he could do that for just $500+. This was sounding more and more like a scam to me. "Fool me once...shame on me....." Thanks, but no thanks. My call from home to Mr. Enslow to discuss this ripoff has gone unanswered. read more
