An update to the previous review. This afternoon I spoke to Patrick, manager at Cress. He was pleasant and said he wanted to work with me. In short, he offered $2.79 per gallon in a contract that will expire in April 2019. This was very helpful, and I graciously accepted. But why did I have to go through this? The service and gas prices were always fine, but it seems they sold out to AmeriGas. Not that AmeriGas is bad, necessarily. But they didn't bother to take down or redirect their website for a "family owned business" and this has been over a year now. It still says "Cress". Who is that now? I feel like I've been hoodwinked. There is no Cress Gas Co. unless they're just drivers for AmeriGas. AmeriGas is run by corporate lawyers because you're repeatedly warned to read their terms and conditions. Why? Because their annual fee is TWICE what Cress was. In their defense, AmeriGas did agree to give me the former annual fee (tank rental) - for one year. Looking for a new service now. read more

The short: absolutely terrible avoid at all costs. The long: when Amerigas began taking over it has been an administrative mess. Missed deliveries,prices skyrocketing and billing nightmares. I finally canceled when we were charged over $4 a gallon. Was told a billing error and they would fixed and promised a lower rate, when bill finally came it was a different rate and wrong amount of gallons billed. I canceled, bought our tank since it was in-ground and switched service providers. This was two years ago and I still get bills, each time a random amount they makes no sense. I call amerigas they say sorry and blame it on cress for the mistake. i call cress they blame it on amerigas. I tell them they wouldnt let me buy out the tank unless I had zero balance, which I did, and now have a $1,700 bill (totally fake amount) and threats of debt collection. Last call was with amerigas they said this was a high priority and that someone would call back in a day. No call just debt collection threats. Avoid at all costs they were charging $2.69 on a good day my new company is about $1.50 consistently even in the dead of winter. read more

After twenty years with Cress, we are switching to another company. We too ran out on the coldest day of the year and we're on automatic delivery. They did come that day to fill the tanks but then sent a bill for 1.25per gallon more then the previous delivery. When we called, they said it was a mistake but had we not questioned it, we suspect no credit would be issued. Customer service is non-existent. So sad! read more

This has to be some of the worst customer service I have experienced with any company. Been trying to get a delivery made for 6 days now. When I call they are extremely rude( literally you can hear one lady yelling at another customer in the background) I get told they will check on something and will call me back which they do not- I get told conflicting stories depending on who answers the phone and in many cases they simply do not answer the phone If I had to money I would remove their tank from my property just to gain release from this group however I can not do that and so I will continue to get abused by this company read more

Carl , Chalfont Pa. Was a Cress gas customer since Jan. 1974 , 43 years, had 5 accounts with them. :) :) NEVER ONCE had a problem with billing , price, delivery's or customer service. Ameri gas took over and immediately the problems started . 2 accounts ran out of propane on a cold winter Fri. night. They couldn't get there till late Monday afternoon. They wanted to charge $75.00 each for a leak test, because the gas service had been interrupted .THEIR FAULT!!!!!! The gas was billed at $4.10 a gallon, called around and was quoted $2.10 a gallon by 3 other company s . .Also fuel and hazardous materials surcharges were added to bill. I got tired of fighting with these thieves and switched company's. The rep from the new company said I was the 5 TH Cress Gas customer that he had talked to today. RUN!!!!! I was charged for a delivery that was not mine. I had called several times, hanging up after waiting a half hour or more. The last time I called I waited forty minutes to get this resolved and was finally connected to someone who listened to my situation and told me I should expect a call back from a billing person with the resolution. I never received the call. I emailed their customer support as well as submitted a form on their website. Neither was replied to. Weeks later I now have received a collections notice for a bill that isn't mine! I'm a twenty five year customer to boot! read more

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. We cancelled our service with them 3 months ago because they would not come out and refill our propane tanks. They kept saying they were backed up. We switched to another company and now we can't get them to pick up there tanks. No matter how many times I call and even schedule appointments to come out, they give me the same excuse. I'd give 0 stars if possible. I've called multiple times and they keep saying "7-10 day estimate." Over 3 weeks have elapsed, no communication or propane from them. I just keep getting the run around on the phone. We're finding another provider. Unacceptable. read more

Absolutely terrible experience! After more then ten years as loyal customers they double our rates without warning. When we called to discuss our concerns we were just shunned. They tried to jockey around the situation and lock us into a payment plan and a service plan. We were so frustrated that we looked at other providers only to find that we had been paying way to much to begin with. Further more, when we had them come to remove their empty tank they billed us to pick it up. When We called to discuss that bill, we got hit with a late charge. Do your homework, there are much better providers available. Unfortunately these guys only care about money not customers read more

I just switched to another company due to them price gouging me. The charged me 4.68 a gallon which is ridiculous when propane has always been cheaper than fuel oil. My friend paid 2.59 a gallon for oil. They told me the best they could do is 4.44 a gallon if I used more I could get a cheaper rate. Cress gas can shove their company up their ass. I switched to Petro at 2.19 a gallon. Oh again cress is trying to charge me to pick up their tanks and won't reimburse me for the unused fuel. read more

Do you think it's reasonable to have to wait 6 weeks to have your propane tank filled? Nope, neither do we and that's why we fired Cress Gas and went to another provider. The following are a few of our experiences with Cress: - Poor Customer Service - Unreasonably long wait times to have tank filled - "Techs" who don't work after 2pm on weekdays (we were seriously told that) - Waiting 2 weeks for an appointment and having it cancelled the day before - Annual fee to lease tank regardless of how much propane you use Please do yourself a favor and consider a different propane provider. You'll have a much better experience and probably save money too. read more

Worst customer service ever!!!! I am on automatic service and this is the 3rd time we have run out of gas in less than a year. The first time was on Christmas night!! The service man had been out the Friday before and said everything was fine. If you want heat this winter without interruption DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! Easily the worst company for propane. Ever since Cress was taken over by Amerigas customer service has been abysmal. Awful service! We are supposed to have automatic delivery and have been without propane since Jan. 5th. We have called and left messages at the office, with the answering service, emailed and personally went to office on Saturday. At the office my husband was told we would have delivery on Monday (Jan. 8th.) Did NOT get propane today and they are not answering their phones! I wish they had a half star rating.. This company is out for your money, and will do nothing to help the customer. Right now charging 3.78 a gallon of propane, and claimed I used 165 gallons in one month. I have had this company for 3 years, and NEVER have I came close to using that amount. They refused to do anything to investigate the usage, and blamed everything on the owner of the house (ME). They are the most lazy company I ever talked to on the phone. They also refused to reimburse me whatever was left in the tank when I have them disconnected. The propane I paid for, would not be reimbursed. Unbelievable Just so you know there are better companies out there that charge half that price for propane. my company I have now only charges 1.99 compared to their 3.78!!!! read more

After 5 years with Cress Gas I was shocked to get a bill from them at 4.209 gallon. This was March 15, 2018. I called 3 other companies and prices were $2.379 to $2.769. I had the new company bring a new tank and fill it it for $2.379 with NO hazmat fee or recovery fee (Cress Gas add on of $16.80 per delivery). Called Cress Gas to pick up old tank on April 23 again May 29, June 20, July 9, then Aug 6. Finally a nice guy picked it up Aug 8. It set over 3 months is my landscaped flower bed.I just received a bill (quickly) from them with a $80.00 pick up fee and a $59.99 service dispatch charge totaling with tax $143.59. The tank had 53 gallons of fuel left at $4.209 equaling $223.07. I'm sure that will be topped off and sold to some new poor sucker. Unbelievable! read more

Worst company ever. Billed us $1.10 more per gallon on our second delivery. When we called they said it was a mistake but had we not called, we would have paid the high price. I've talked to countless other folks with similar stories. They are thieves. They will steal from you if they can get away with it. I finally had enough and cut ties with them 2 months ago. They promised they would pick up the 2 empty tanks within 3 weeks but they still sit on my lawn. But as can be expected with this company, another promise unfulfilled. Bad service, terrible customer service, extremely bad company. This is the first time ever I was so disgusted with a company that I wrote a review. Stay away. And if you see my 2 tanks sitting on my lawn feel free to take them. I'm on Steinsburg road in Milford township and the 2 tanks are free to anyone who wants them. Wait until you try to get rid of this awful company. They charade $59.00 to take the tank away and charge extra if there is any gas remaining in the tank because they have to pump it out. I asked if they were going to resell it. The answer was: it's company policy. read more

Terrible company. They actually let let someone "sign me up" someone i didnt know. Then told me i signed a contract which they couldnt produce. The woman on the phone told me if i didnt like it they would send someone to put a lock on my tank till i paid and hung the phone up on me. Mind you this was like 3 days after i moved to the new adress. The old resident told them they weren't living there and gave them my name so now bam i owe like $150. Get out of here. They havent received a dime yet and its been a yr and guess what, no lock. Their prices are high and they load you up with fees. read more

I had the same thing happen as the other reviewer. I've either placed an online order to have it lost or call and be told 7-10 days. In one case, I asked for a fill because I was on generator and they never bothered to fill it. Really frustrating. read more

I've used cress gas for 12 years .The former home owner used them also for 6 years. They were always great. NOW they suck since they were bought by Amerigas... Buffoons in customer service. Can't get callbacks or pricing issues resolved. Phone messages go unanswered. Prices not competitive, and they let my auto delivery run down to empty this cold winter. I want them to come get their tanks out of my property. The tanks are underground and I'm sure they are amortized, but it will cost them to remove them and id like to see this happen for punitive reasons. read more

I would leave zero stars if possible. I am on automatic delivery. Came home after being away for a week and house was 38 degrees and our tanks were empty. I called at 4:30 (business hours) and they said someone would call back. At 9pm I called the emergency line and they said no more deliveries would be made that night even though a winter storm was being predicted for the next day and frigid temperatures for the next 3. I was informed I was scheduled for tomorrow "Not to Worry" Called the next day and they said due to the weather no deliveries. It is below freezing with temperatures expected below zero the next several days and all they say is "I AM SORRY". THEY HAVE NO EMERGENCY CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER. IT WAS THEIR ERROR THAT MY TANK WAS EMPTY AND THEY WOULD NOT COME OUT AND FILL MY TANKS BEFORE A PREDICTED WINTER FREEZE. HORRIBLE PEOPLE! read more

I have been a Cress customer since 2003 with no complaints until January 2014, when deliveries began being made but NO delivery ticket was left at my door; thereby leaving me NO way to verify the amount dispensed. I called Cress Gas and they quickly send me a ticket; however as it wasn't left at the time of service there was no way for me to verify it was accurate. Therefore I began a spreadsheet of deliveries and noticed during this time period my usage had exponentially increased when it should have been decreasing as my children went off to college. January 2016 I finally called and requested to speak with a manager who told me they only leave tickets when the customer requests such, a practice I find ridiculous as how am I to know what they are actually dispensing so I noted with the manager that they MUST leave a ticket when delivering to my home. Much to my surprise in September an invoice arrived from Cress Gas again NO ticket was left at my door at the time of delivery. I began calling other propane companies in the area and discovered it's against the law to NOT leave a delivery ticket at the time of delivery and was told they have received similar calls from exasperated Cress customers. Additionally I searched the Better Business Bureau web site and found multiple complaints from customers. Needless to say as of December 15, 2016 I am NO longer a Cress Gas customer! read more

They missed our delivery and we ran out of gas on New Year's day, 9 hours of calls to the emergency number which were never returned. It is now 8:15 on 1/2, they are suppose to open at 8 but still no answer. The temperature in my house has been 49 degrees for over 24 hours. I would give them no stars if that was an option!! Customer service was absolutely deplorable. It took two days before any attempt at a gas delivery was made. called the emergency hotline for two days, was kept on hold waiting for someone to answer for maximum of 30 minutes each time. Finally gave up when I realized there was no one in the office. When I finally did get a live person I was told "the trucks have been pulled off the road because the trucks aren't able to travel the roads-the roads are too dangerous. Meanwhile numerous other propane companies were out on the roads making deliveries to their customers. Finally, two days later a nice gentleman, whose name I don't remember was going to make a delivery. Waited until I got a phone call from the driver who said "are you sure your power is not on, could you check"? I haven't had power for two days-do they think that I was calling if I had power? That's when I told the driver " don't bother I know you don't want to come out" and I'm going to call another company tomorrow as another day without power was not going to make a difference at this point! I got home and an hour later I saw a Cress truck pull up and I found the driver "shutting off the tank" because my boss told me to". They were going to make sure that if I did not get a delivery from them I was not gonna be able to get it from anyone else. They are liars and their customer service is an oxymoron! Will be looking for a company that knows what customer service is about in the morning!! DO Not Use This Company! If anyone knows of a good reliable company I would love the recommendation!! read more

I was a customer for 10 years, always paid on time, we recently had natural gas ran to our home and when I cancelled my account with Cress. They told me I would NOT receive any money for the unused gas in the tanks. Total about 150 gallons !!!!!!! What a rip off STAY AWAY from them. Choose anyone else. read more

Do NOT use this company. I was on automatic delivery but Cress failed to deliver my gas and when I arrived home on January 31st after being away for the holidays I found my house internal temp at 37 degrees. I called their emergency hotline to see if they could deliver but no one returned my call. I spoke to other companies that were doing emergency deliveries but they would not deliver to me because I was not an existing customer. On January 1st a driver contacted me and said he would be delivering in 15 minutes. My family and I were at a hotel 20 minutes away. I waited an hour at the house and then called driver. He said that he could not get down my driveway and that maybe he could deliver later in the week. Meanwhile my pipes froze, bursted and parts of my house are flooded. Insurance will not cover it because heat was not maintained in the house. I switched to Gastech and they were able to deliver enough gas on the 1st (down the same driveway that Cress said they couldn't get down) and today Cress tanks were removed and replaced with GasTech. read more

I have been a Cress Gas customer for 20 years. Now they are owned by Amerigas. This year has been the worst customer service experience of my life. Worse that the cell and cable company experience. They have never once this season gotten my bill correct. They cut off my deliveries and I was space heating with electric heaters because they said I owed them money which was not true. I had to beg them to deliver me some propane. Their customer service personnel (which I know all by name ) give you lip service and misinformation on the phone. The account managers which I know as well do the same. They went from a nice mom and pop shop to a horrible corporate company with people who work there that don't care about me and lie to me on a consistent basis. This is my last season with them after being a long time customer. Stay away unless you want to be treated like I was and continue to be treated this season. read more
