I had an existing woodburning firebox and flue pipe removed and a gas unit installed. The gas unit is made of flimsy metal and the unit makes 3 to 5 loud booming sounds a night. It creaks and crackles the rest of the time. The chimney chase was closed up at the top but the fireplace still has a large draft. The installers expect the homeowners to watch the entire installation in the room or they will assume the homeowners have no interest in the quality of work. Get an official statement of the work to be done, not just the order form. Ensure that every work item is clearly listed, and alternate work to be done in place of the stated work. Ensure the person who writes the order and the installers agree on all the actual work to be done. read more

Requested this company complete an inspection of a fireplace and chimney. Had a known rusted chase cover and had hopes that was the only issue. Estates eluded that this rust was also inside the firebox and liner and had caused damage to the structural integrity of the chimney and would turn a ~$3k job (replacement of chase cover) into a ~10k job (eluded to because when called to ask more questions about their summary they never actually returned a phone call *shrug*). Went on to use a different company and they verified what was originally thought. Just a replacement of the chase cover. The inside of the chimney is galvanized steel. Yes some rust was exposed to the exterior but nothing that would be a cause for major concern. There was some other small tasks completed but nothing outrageous. The chimney / fire place passed inspection. Estates provided a quote in cursive writing that was barely legible. 1 stars because of lack of professionalism and transparency to a paying customer. Wonder who else has been taken advantage of. read more

I intentionally scheduled the last appointment of the day (4 PM) to accommodate my work schedule. Two days prior, Estates called to confirm the original date and time. The morning of my appointment, I received a phone message from the technician stating that he was "running ahead of schedule" and wanted to come at 11:30 AM. When I called him back and explained that the earliest I could do was 3:30, he told me that he would be "waiting for me". Again, my appointment was scheduled for 4:00. I arrived home at 3:20 to find that he had been waiting at the top of my driveway for over an hour. It would have been much more professional to wait in front of my house, on public property, rather than up close to my house where he was much more concealed. While in the house, he laid down a tarp to get the work done, he somehow still managed to leave two substantial soot marks on my very light carpet which will now require a professional company to remedy. At the time my appointment was made, I was also told that a camera would be used to inspect my chimney. I have no knowledge if that was even done, as the technician did not mention it, or any potential issues. Perhaps he was anxious to end his work day since he had to wait several hours for my appointment time to come. read more

Well lets just say Im done with this company for good. I have been using them for years for chimney sweep and this was the year I was ready to upgrade to a new regency insert stove. I have had an appointment scheduled for weeks and took a day off of work today and they never showed up. When I called, Bill in the holland office at 430 today to see when they were showing up he told me there was absolutely no paper trail of my appointment. Popular and booked well into early winter, they still came and inspected my chimneys and installed a woodburning stove for me since I had just moved and hadn't had the opportunity to schedule a visit from them. They were SO NICE and extraordinarily professional. When a screw came loose on my stove (a weird one I couldn't fix myself), they came back out immediately and fixed it (no charge, of course). They also provided guidance and "training" for use of my stove, even going so far as to take me out and talk about the wood I was using. They were recommended strongly by my Realtor and the guy who delivered my firewood. I can't possibly recommend them highly enough! read more

We had Estates Chimney Sweep clean our chimney last week and they did a wonderful job. They were professional, thorough and gave us helpful recommendations on how to best store wood and deal with a residual smoke smell in the house. Our house is on a slope so the chimney is 3 stories high. We had been told by a prior chimney sweep that it wasn't accessible by ladder and he'd need scaffolding, extra men and of course a whole lot more money. For Estates, it was business as usual. They had no problem accessing the chimney and did not charge anything over their normal (reasonable) fee. Highly recommend them. read more

Dean was our salesman - VERY knowledgeable, personable and there was never any pressure to buy. We told him what we had and he not only gave us several options, but also his opinion on what would work best. I was so impressed with the store and everything about it. On installation day, our techs (Tony and Josh) were prompt, courteous and PROFESSIONAL!! I have used this company to complete my chimney sweeping needs for years and the last few years have been scheduling disaster after scheduling disaster. I am done with them! Even though I tell them what I need (I have a pellet stove insert, so it is a little more complicated than the average sweep) they send out someone who can't perform the work without a second person or this year the people who showed up said they didn't know how to sweep a pellet stove insert. I have had the person just not show up. I had to call the company the next day to find out what happened. The tech claimed they tried calling to let me know they weren't coming, but no one answered; I have an answering machine, but apparently they didn't bother leaving a message. I didn't have any missed calls either. The person I talked to on the phone about this didn't even bother to apologize. Their attitude was just "oh well" They seem to care less about customer service. read more

Many stoves wood and gas on display. The services they provide are well priced and extremely efficient. Most installs are complete in half a day from start to finish. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and all service techs carry some form of certification. Regency is producing top of the line gas and wood appliances and these techs can install them easily to your needs. They also install propane tanks if needed. A great company with two locations. I have used Estates before and so in late spring I received a phone call with a special off season chimney sweep price. I also had a chimney cap that needed to be put back on after a very windy spring blew it off. When I called to see if I could have the special price cleaning and the cap put on at the same time I was told I could and so I scheduled with them. When they called back with a reminder the day before our scheduled date, they left us a message saying they would be out the next day to seeep the chimney. In that phone call, they did not mention replacing the cap, so we called back the Chalfont office to be sure that replacing the cap was part of the job and were assured it was. Well....technician showed up next day and cleaned the chimney but said he was unable to do the cap because he was all alone that day. He assured us he would circle back when he had a helper to put the cap back on. We have not heard from them or seen them again We would never have agreed to the chimney sweep if the cap were not part of the job. So we feel very much cheated because it is apparently difficult to get any chimney service to come for the small task of putting a chimney cap back on. So not sure that honesty is a priority with this business and therefore cannot recommend. read more

What a disappointing experience! Dealt with one of the owners. They provided an estimate for chimney repair work. We followed up and inquired as to how much work was being done for the price. My husband spoke with this particular co-owner before the holidays. The co-owner sent an employee out unannounced to our house after our call. Our kids were home and mentioned that a strange man in an unmarked vehicle was walking around our yard looking at our house (first mistake). We never heard back from them after several weeks so my husband followed up again and spoke with the same co-owner. He had no recollection of our situation/estimate and spent his time whining (second mistake) about how overwhelmed he was because he just had 10 days off (poor thing) and that the employee he sent to our house only works for him a small percentage of the time. Here's an idea: Communicate effectively and show interest in a potential customer. While we understand the holidays/colder weather might be busier, there's no excuse for ignorance. If you aren't interested in the business and/or you are in a nasty mood, consider having one of your employees/office staff follow up so they aren't as obnoxious. We will gladly take our business elsewhere. read more

Steve is so in tune to every detail and did a remarkable job. The customer service is superior and the workmanship is by far the best. Bill has excellent customer service skills, he was always so accommodating with scheduling and very prompt in getting back to us regarding any questions we've had. Dean, who sold us our gas insert, was so knowledgeable and professional. He did not try to pressure us into buying, he just informed us of the different types of fireplaces, inserts etc. He has been great to deal with and customer satisfaction had been his top priority. The gas insert was the best investment we've made to the house so far, especially after this past winter when we lost power for three days. The insert we purchased has a battery backup so as long as the tank is filled and you have double aa batteries it still works without electricity. read more
