What brought me to Blue Water Yachting was that I had received a phone call from some friends…read moreadvising that they would be bringing their boat into Bahia Mar Marina prior to doing a Caribbean cruise and wanted me, for security reasons, to be the one to ask around about additional staffing. As soon as I walked in the door, though I had inadvertently entered through the back door, I was warmly greeted and rather impressed with the general bright décor and setup of their offices. I was also impressed to find out that they could handle all of my friends needs as they maintain a data base of over 100,000 professional crew with crew agents in various separate departments that would specialize in selecting those best suited for a particular yacht. I passed the information on to my friends for them to finalize any details, which they did, and have been advised that they couldn't have been more pleased. As I'm sure that the staff at Bluewater were aware that was an amateur handling such affairs, matters such as these are generally handled by a yacht's captain, they clearly went out of their way to accommodate me. They not only answered all of my questions but also advised me on a few points that I should have had questioned but failed to ask. I was also interested in the size of their operations, which are really big. They not only assist with crew placement but also handle yacht brokerage, are a yacht-training provider in Europe, have operations in Antibes, France, Mallorca, Spain, Moscow and Miami. Then, if you intend to have a Yacht designed and constructed, they offer new construction management. So no matter your needs when it comes to larger yachts, particularly those of the super or mega yacht categories, Bluewater seems to have you covered.

Back in October, after having applied to some listings, I was contacted by Madison McClintock, by text and a LinkedIn connection regarding two possible positions. I gave Madison my resume with a confirmation a day or two later that it was sent out. I never heard from her again. A few weeks later I earned a Network+ certification and found some new listings for jobs that had fit my experience, even one with the same title as my current position. After sending them to Madison, I would get no reply. Finally, I reached out to an Account Executive, Anouka Perkins, on LinkedIn who worked at the same branch with a couple of new listing and asked if I could be submitted for a possible interview. After being told how Madison was already my recruiter and that "she said good things about you at our meeting", I thanked Anouka for her quick response and again asked if I could get a different recruiter assigned to me. I was even nice in saying Madison is probably great but too busy with many job seekers on her plate. After that message, I was blocked on LinkedIn by Anouka. I was taken aback by how unprofessional that was. A few days later, I reached out to Pavel Raphael, the assistant VP of Tech Recruiting at the same location. I asked again if I could get another recruiter and mentioned how shocked/disappointed I was by Anouka being unprofessional by blocking me. I even provided screenshots of the conversation to show that I was not misrepresenting anything. At the end of the day, I checked my messages and saw that Pavel had blocked me as well. I used to sing the praises of Robert Half, but not after this unfortunate experience.
