I did my wedding with Cricket Caterers. They have an exclusive contract with the venue I wanted, so there was no choice. I think that might have a lot to do with the problems we encountered. Pros: food was great. No complaints whatsoever there. The servers and bartender did their jobs very well. Con: no management. Every person we talked to was different. We put down the deposit with one person, then when it was time to start planning, we had to track down someone from Cricket and found out the person we dealt with no longer worked there. So we had a meeting with another guy, and the same thing happened. That was the last time we saw him. If we hadn't chased them down, I don't think any planning would have happened at all. At first they asked us if we wanted to buy the liquor ourselves, then they informed us we had to. They did not offer any help as far as guidance of what or how to buy. We were responsible for bringing the liquor to the venue, and for unloading it and bringing it back. Resulting in us spending our wedding night loading boxes from the venue. Nobody helped us at all. When we entered the venue, the table numbers were not set up and nobody reached out to us to try to resolve whatever the issue was. The groom had to coordinate the table numbering. When food and cake were served, the bride and groom had to stand in line with everyone else. It was confusing. Since we didn't realize what was happening, our friends got me (bride) a plate, I think the groom just waited in line himself. We also didn't get to try the cake we wanted for the same reason. Our favors disappeared. After the wedding the groom asked for them to be delivered back, and they were not. Drew said he'd do it, then nothing. Same with this feedback which I sent in an email, the response was crickets...ha ha. Guess that's why they're cricket catering. Overall, I just felt like Drew was there to collect the money and that's it. He did put in an appearance at the wedding but didn't stay because he said he was sick. It's a shame that Cricket is the only choice if you want to use the historic Twentieth Century club. I don't feel that the management really cares about this business or wants weddings to be a success, it's just a cash cow to them. If we hadn't been pushing the whole way, and interrupted the wedding to take care of the details ourselves, it wouldn't have been a success. read more

Cricket Catering provided catering and service for our wedding. Drew was eager to please and communicative, checking several times to ensure all details were captured and clear. Soon after booking, he arranged a tasting for myself, the groom, and both sets of parents. The tasting had so much food that we were uncomfortably full at the end - in a good way! We had a hard time choosing our appetizers because everything we tried was so good. The prices were fair and Drew even encouraged us to stock our own bar to save money. Drew went above and beyond to accommodate dietary restrictions, making a separate plate of gluten-free and dairy-free appetizers and a few separate entrees for guests. Food was served on time and people were able to move through the buffet efficiently. There was no shortage of food and we received many compliments on how good everything tasted, plus a bunch of leftovers boxed up for us to take home. Thank you, Cricket! read more

Drew seems to be a great chef who employs some great people but his management style seems to leave a lot to be desired. Sage Farmhouse gave a list of only 3 approved caterers and highly encouraged us to go with Cricket, stating "biggest bang for your buck," which seemed correct since the other 2 options were much more a la carte and the fee by Sage to select our own caterer was astronomical. In short, the food was good not great but plentiful with food veg options, the drinks were great, the food display was fantastic and the service staff were wonderful. They were very attentive, professional, and 2 years later we are still getting compliments on the bartender. The issues we experienced came from management, which could have been completely avoided with good communication and transparency. During the year leading up to our wedding Drew went through multiple event coordinators and did not communicate to us that they were having staffing changes so we would send an email and not get a response for a month at a time. We had a smaller than anticipated final number and told Drew this so he could plan accordingly. We had planned our seating arrangements around a certain number of tables. He showed up with one less, because we had less people, but he never told us we would have less tables so we could plan accordingly. He showed up without the signature cocktail ingredients and never told us he didn't get them so we didn't have one. All the tables were supposed to have the same lavender table cloths but only the long table did. Somehow, we ended up with dark purple table cloths on the cocktail tables. Again, no explanation and no apology. He had issues the morning of the wedding and showed up late, which delayed everything else. Again, never communicated that to us. It took the event coordinator at Sage and myself calling him to find out that he would be arriving an hour late. He arrived with an irritated attitude and then left once the truck was unloaded and setup without letting anyone know who would be overseeing the staff/operations. At the end of the night one of the bridesmaids found an entire case of our wine packed in with all of the catering stuff, which we hope was a mistake and not intentional. All in all, this company could be absolutely amazing but it needs substantial improvement on organization, communication and customer service. Errors and changes warrant communication, sometimes and apologies and on occasion credits/refunds. We didn't get any of that. So, at best we can only provide a 3-star rating. read more

We had Cricket Catering for my daughter's graduation party at Hibernia Park in Coatesville, PA. It was picnic food (hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers) for a little over 100 people. Cricket Catering brought the grill, all the condiments and supplies and paper goods. Drew and his team made it so easy to contract and work out the details prior to the event. At the event, the team was professional, courteous and very helpful. We brought our own cake but they offered plates and to serve it. They set up, ensured everyone had food and cleaned up without any issues. Catering a picnic is not easy and they did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend them for an event. read more

I am a member of the staff at the University of Pennsylvania's Law School at 3501 Sansom St. I am not responsible for hiring Cricket, but I have observed them catering many events for us from a casual cocktail and hors d'oeuvres hour to full sit down dinners. The service is first rate, very professional and polite. The food is superior to other catered events I have attended. Not only was the food unique and tasty (not at all bland, boring wedding food) but the servers were so helpful and friendly, and the tasting was great for me, my fiance and my parents. Drew and Sam were very nice, reachable, and adhered to any safety measures during our COVID wedding. Drew was quick with communication and open to any ideas I had for changing menu items, specific requests, etc. On the big day, the staff arrived asking to use the kitchen. We were told at the initial meeting, the staff was self-sufficient and just needed a place to set up. We were not expecting them to need the kitchen but they kept to themselves and cleaned up when done as if they weren't there. During the set up, the servers had a lot of questions about how/where to set things up. I had thought these things were already established and it caused some stress until one of the guests took over so I could finish getting ready. One guest has terminal cancer and the staff made sure she was served first with just her husband to avoid exposure to other people. One guest had food allergies and the staff was diligent about keeping the food separated so she didn't get exposed. My step-father had a stroke between the ceremony and reception. The staff, especially the bartender, checked in with the immediate family frequently to see if there were any updates from the hospital and make sure there wasn't anything we needed. The staff worked to keep the pace of the reception while the immediate family was in a fog waiting to hear on the health of my step-father. Drew called a few days later because he heard what happened and wanted to check that things were ok. Thankfully they are! I was told that the staff would be taking all trash and recycling. All the trash was taken but quite a bit of recycling remained. My brothers-in-law had to come take care of it the next day. Overall, the guests said the food was good. We enjoyed our appetizer and entrée choices. Overall, I would recommend Cricket and only gave them 4 stars because of the few snafus/ communication breakdowns. The price was reasonable and no one had complaints about the food, staff, or set up. read more

I had an awful experience with Cricket Catering. While Drew was very professional and made many promises at our initial tasting, right after he received our deposit he began to not return phone calls or emails. He also missed scheduled meetings, claiming he had lost his phone or must have not written it down, He always made me feel as though I was asking too much, or was bothering him while he was busy. He always told us that we would receive things (like the final bill) "in a couple of days", when in reality he had to be phoned several times, and emailed before he would respond only five days before the wedding. At the wedding its self, there were many elements missing that we had discussed, including a memorial candle for my mother that was found shoved in a office at the venue in its box, in the middle of the reception and had to be set up by family members. While the staff at Cricket that worked at the venue on the day of was very kind, they did not receive any direction from Drew as to the components of our wedding. I came away feeling awful about the whole experience and would recommend that no one ever chose him as a caterer. read more

I used Cricket for my wedding and would not recommend to anyone! We caught his staff stealing from our bathroom baskets before the wedding even started, the staff were eating the appetizers that were supposed to be for the guests DURING the cocktail hour, the bartender was unprofessional and tried to give one of my guests the entire bottle of Whiskey from the bar during the reception (luckily my guest said "I don't think you're supposed to do that"), they gave us the wrong salads during dinner and the ones we received had no dressing, the dinner meat (filet) was cold, and at the end of the night his staff was trying to sleep on the chairs and took some of the centerpieces that the guests were supposed to take!! They did not live up to any of their promises and the person I had dealt with the entire time before the wedding never even showed up at the venue and I was never told a different manager would be there. There were other things too but these were the worst. I don't want any bride/person to deal with what I had to, please use someone else, for your wedding or party. read more
