I've been to Stingers twice and they have one item that is outstanding. The cheesesteak eggrolls. They are perfectly crisp with just the right amount of meat and cheese inside. Tied with the best cheesesteak eggrolls in Philly. Any trip to Stingers should include them. The rest of the food is not quite up to that standard. The bread served before the meal is mediocre. The New England clam chowder is a hot soup but not real clam chowder, and u can tell just by looking at it. It's not creamy white. The lobster ravioli special I ordered on my last visit was not special. There is no way the pasta was freshly made like at a good Italian restaurant. They must have been frozen. They were not soft and didn't have any lobster flavor. Stingers has a lively bar scene with live music. It can get very loud in there. It's best to sit in the room off to the side of the bar farthest away from the music. Service has been good on both of my visits. Stingers is probably best suited for drinks at the bar, with an order of cheesesteak eggrolls, listening to music. read more

To be a good Delco restaurant in my neck of the woods, the bar isn't always as high. Places like this tend to fit a standard for this area. The trick is if you can do anything to set yourself apart. I do believe this place has a few touches that might do that. If you are in anyway familiar with this area of Delco, you will know that the owner of this restaurant used to be affiliated with the Heritage Ballroom. I always liked the food there, and always had good dealings with the ballroom, so I was looking forward to seeing how they would do in running a single restaurant with their own stamp on the place. I also was very familiar with the former Caroline's that was here. So again, I was Right off the bat, I must say that bringing a bread basket out with a side of red gravy and ricotta cheese was the first touch. I don't know if anyone else does that, but I've never seen it. Although I like having my olive oil on the side, or even bread and butter, this was a good thing to me. And it was good seeded bread, not just a basic hoagie roll cut up. So they had me at hello. Of course, one thing about some of the nicer Delco restaurants is that they still manage to find a way to put things like cheesesteaks on the menu. This place does have its share of sandwiches since they do a healthy bar business. It happens to turn out that I was actually in the mood for one since I saw one come out of the kitchen that looked really good. So I ordered up a chicken parm sandwich with a cup of steak and potato soup. The wife decided to go for the crab cake platter. That platter would be a really good test. The soup was a pretty decent and hearty one. It had more of a vegetable soup taste. Can't say it was exactly what I expected when I ordered it, but flavor wise it did well. So the sandwich I would say was decent. The roll made the sandwich for me. I just love the good seeded rolls. Not putting it on a basic roll like so many other places still do was a step up for me. The chicken was pretty standard parmesan style, which is to say they didn't screw it up. Hey, sometimes that is more important to note with these basic dishes. Don't screw it up and you'll be fine. The fries were a cut above what usually comes with these sandwiches as well. The wife was impressed with her crab cakes. My taste of them found that it had a good amount of meat to them and less filler. That's a good sign. Again, the important part is that they didn't screw them up. Do you sense my trend here? I think what this place has figured out that when it comes to southern Delco restaurants, it is far more important to get the basic stuff right than to do anything too creative. Believe me when I tell you that too many restaurants in this area don't get that. I've had so many basic dishes screwed up in this area that it is actually refreshing to see someone consistently get them right. Now, can I confidently say this is the case after one meal? I don't know. But I do know that I've had plenty of one time meals in southern Delco where it didn't happen, so they win on that account. I tend to judge southern Delco restaurants on that curve. We're not Center City. We will never be Center City. We just don't have too many dining destinations in my area. So if you don't screw it up, you're doing well. If you add a few personal touches on top of it, you'll rise above. I think this place gets that. Service was friendly. Maybe a little slow, but I'll give them a pass since it was busy. That kitchen had to be hopping, I'm sure. Kevin, the owner, spent time talking to us and takes a lot of pride in how the restaurant is run. It was a Friday night, and it was busy at the bar and in the dining room, but they had seating for us and we didn't have to wait. It was a little loud because they had live acoustic music going on, but it was good music so I didn't mind. Hey, you don't come here for a quiet dinner. I liked the renovations they did in the room, and nice touch adding some wine refrigerators in the room. This place earned my stamp of approval. I've already put it above several of the longtime standard restaurants in this area that have been around for a while (if you're from this area, you can probably guess without me telling you). If those places don't shape up, they may lose a lot of business to a place like this. read more

Overall, I really like Stingers Secane. It's a place to grab a dinner or light meal that's nicer than most local places but still really accessilbe, unpretentuous, and with a much wider menu than pub-grub though they've got that if you're after it. You'll find white linen tablecloths in the dining room, but I've never felt like men need a sports coat or something. There's also a pretty large bar area if you're feeling more casual. Stopped in for dinner with my Mom on a Tuesday night. They run a special on Tuesdays for pasta dishes @ $15 and glasses of house wine for $5. Pasta isn't my thing, but my Mom ordered Penne alla Vodka -- HUGE ass serving of that, really fresh and bountiful house salad (I think included?), and the house wine pour is HEALTHY. I ordered a crab cake sandwich and small Caesar salad. Both pretty good though I'd get the house salad over Ceasar if given the choice again. I wasn't into ordering pasta or an entree/sandwich with meat so that was a bit limiting for me, personally, but I think most diners would find something to their liking and budget on the menu. Hmmmm, not too sure about this place. It's Delco at it's finest that is for sure. It's a great restaurant with pretty good food but it's basically a Delco bar that is loud and not the most attractive crowd... and not the nicest shopping plaza. However, when you are seated at your table, that kind of fades. Waiting at the bar on a Friday evening while our table was getting ready was a tight squeeze. The bartender did make a mean dirty martini though! For apps, when you have Cheesesteak eggrolls, you automatically get +1 in my book and they were delicious at that. Not overly greasy and full of meat! WIN! For dinner I went with the lightly breaded flounder and the breading took all the flavor away from this dish for me. I had food envy of everyone else at the table =( Womp, womp. Overall it was an enjoyable dinner with family and the staff was pretty nice. once you enter, the cloth napkins and overall ambiance seem a bit out of place for the location, but it works well. The sauce with the bread was a nice touch -- but why does everyone insist on serving it luke-warm? My Guinness was good. Monday and Tuesday seem to be all you can eat pasta nights. My wife and I both tried different pastas. We're not talking about some simple pasta + sauce equation here -- I had filet tips in a burgundy sauce over penne, with mushrooms and tomatoes. EXCELLENT! My wife went for the chicken diablo pasta. Nice sized piece of chicken parm on top of her pasta, but perhaps the diablo was taken a bit too far -- for her, it was too hot to eat. I like spicy food -- and it was definitely on the hot side of things. I've had jalapenos that were milder. She took it home, I'll have it for lunch. The kids picked off the kids menu -- grilled cheese and chicken fingers. Grilled cheese, well, is grilled cheese. Not much to talk about there. The fries were top notch -- crinkle cut, not slathered with sugar to make them crunchy and brown. Good, old fashioned, fries. The chicken fingers were huge, lightly breaded, and were very good. I think my wife stole one to replace her chicken diablo. :) Prices weren't bad -- the pasta dishes were $12.99, my pint of Guinness was $5.50, and the kids meals were $6.99. We got out for $70 with tip, feeding a family of four, with lunch for all 4 of us the next day. We'll be back. read more

This restaurant is on the smaller side and is located in a shopping center so parking was not a problem. They start you with some fresh seeded bread with sauce on the side. If it was warm, I would have liked it much better, but, it was fresh so we ate it. Next we ordered the cheesesteak eggrolls for appetizer, they were good and fresh, hot & really good. Next a salad which was also fresh and tasty. For entrees we had crab cakes & hot roast beef, these were just o.k. The fries were some of the most bland I've ever had and we just left them, they might want to change these up, some steak fries would have been better. There are few places I miss in Delco since moving to Bucks County and Stingers is absolutely number 1 on that list. My family still lives in the area so even during quarantine, our family still ordered takeout from here for Mother's Day while we all ate in separate corners of our living room. The pickup of food (so I'm told from my father) was incredibly well organized, fast, and efficient. In total we got four entrees: Chicken Joseph, Veal Parmesan, Tortellini Rosa, and Crab Cakes - as well as two orders of Cheesesteak Eggrolls, because if you know anything about Stinger's, you know they're an absolute MUST have. One thing about takeout across the board seems to be that you tend to lose a touch of freshness and that restaurant quality but this was not the case. They packaged everything to keep the cold salads cold and the warm food warm. They had an excellent leak-proof sealed container for the soups and the salads remained presentable even after a car ride and the walk inside. The takeout option also gave you just as much as you would with a sit in portion. We all ended up saving some and having leftovers for dinner the next night (and In one case, two nights) and the quality was still as outstanding as it would be eating in the restaurant. The only complaint I do have is the bread portion given to us which I will chalk up to the fact that it was Mother's Day and the first available pickup time. I absolutely LOVE the bread and sauce they serve but ordering four entrees and two appetizers, they only gave us two croissant sized rolls and a small sauce. My overall review for this Mother's Day is a 9/10 and I'm sure if we had eaten in if we were able to, it'd be a 10/10. Thank you Stinger's for giving my mom a wonderful meal on Mother's Day and allowing us to have a somewhat normal family celebration! I look forward to eating there again. read more

Upon entering the establishment I was pleasantly surprised - I was expecting more of a dive bar atmosphere but was greeted by a huge beautiful bar and an upscale-looking dining room. However, despite the white table cloths there were cokes served in red plastic glasses, salads served on those old-timey plastic buffet plates and gold foil packets of butter. It seemed like a strange combination. The food was decent - a solid 3 stars. To start, the bread basket was served cold along with cold marinara sauce. The cheesesteak eggrolls with sriracha ketchup were addictive and very filling. The French onion soup was good albeit under-salted (which I can deal with as most places usually over-salt this soup). The Stingers Restaurant food is good. My only comment is that its too dark. It dark from when you first walk in. Unlike the Stingers Restaurant on the Waterfront which is very bright. This restaurant should do something to make it more brighter. I've seen some small restaurants where they had wooden shutters on the bottom of the window nothing at the top. Then your customer can open the bottom shutters to let in some light while they are eating. read more

Been going here for about a year and half now. Friday night happy hr became pretty regular. The bartenders are awesome. The food was great. Always start with the cheesteak egg rolls their pretty legit. If you go there early the crowd may seem on the older side, around 9-10 the older crowd clears out. It gets younger as the night goes on. The servers are very friendly and helpful and attentive to needs of their tables. The staff and managers are very nice and catering to needs as they arise. Let me start by just going through specifics then I will give my opinion. Aesthetically beautiful. Everything about it was well designed but poorly executed. My wife and I arrived at about 7pm on a Saturday night. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait and given a buzzer. We were directed to wait outside. As it was a warm evening I asked if we could wait at the bar. The hostess smiled and said if course. So we walked around the bar,... twice,... and a third time. When we did finally locate 2 empty seats and attempted to sit down we were instructed those seats were being held for friends that had not arrived yet. So, we went outside. We then couldn't find a place to sit outside. We then tried to walk down by the marina to find locked gates and lots of smokers. I then also noticed my buzzer was out of range. So we went back and trolled the bar. Stood and waited for someone to leave. Finally did get a place to sit and our buzzer went off. So, went back up to the hostess to get our table. We were seated at a nice table but it took 15 minutes before a waitress noticed we were there. She came and gave us menus, took our drink order and left to put those in. We looked over the menus... Very limited menu. 1 page. A list of about a dozen appetizers. A list of maybe six very expensive salads. A list of 8 entrees none of which were under 27 dollars. And then a large list of very overpriced burgers and sandwiches. By this time our waitress came back with our drinks. She informed us of the specials. None of which sounded very special. She asked us if we were ready to order or if we needed more time. Since I knew my wife was struggling finding something I told the waitress we needed more time. Big mistake... we didn't see her again for 20 minutes. By the time we saw her again we needed more to drink again but were also able to get our order in. I ordered the seared scallops. My wife ordered the hamburger sliders off the appetizer menu. To my relief our order came faster than I was expecting. Upon reflection I guess I should have seen that as a red flag. My seared scallops... 2 of them were perfect, 2 were burnt, 2 were undercooked and 2 were raw. My wife's meal, the hamburger sliders... not only was the hamburger meat not cooked it smelled sour. When our waitress came back to ask how our meals were I explained to her our issues. She did not seem upset about the food preparation but did insist on having the manager come speak to us. He came in about ten minutes. He said he heard we had a problem with our meal. I went through everything with him. He apologized and said he would take care of the meal. When the waitress returned she brought us our check stating the manager had indicated to her he was comping my wife's meal but they had to put it on the bill and then give us an equivalent amount off as a coupon. Which was fine. From a technical sense it means we still had to pay taxes for it but I did not want to split hairs. Total bill came to 37 dollars for a dinner for 2 although I did have to stop on the way home and get something else for my wife to eat. Now... the place was beautiful. Nice romantic atmosphere well planned and all the ingredients needed for a wonderful evening. I would liked to have seen a better menu ( more variety and less emphasis on pub food like hamburgers ) and very overpriced. I don't mind paying more for a meal if its worth it. Ours definitely fell short. The staff was adequate. Well trained and freindly but seemed almost over staffed and complacent. I honestly think with proper management they could have done a better job with fewer people. Yes, there were several people wearing the staff t-shirt indicating they worked there that literally just stood in one place the whole time we were there and didn't move. There were no less than 5 hostesses hovering the front door to tell you they could not seat you yet. Finally while it was a good sized bar, they had 4 bartenders staffing it. I have bartended myself before in a similar sized bar. the most we ever used was 2 bartenders and 1 barback. Anyway... overall I give it a nice try but not. A swing and a miss. Poor management. I will probably go back to assess if things are getting better or not for sake of the potential there if they improve. read more

Living in Chicago, occasionally I'm forced to travel back to Delco to visit my wife's family. I cringe at having to take out mom-in-law to dinner. Old people don't like variety, so usually the restaurant choices stink. Mom-in-law knows the current owners from their previous venture. So she likes going to Stingers, and I really like the food. Cha Ching! Again. The restaurant scene in Delco just doesn't compare to Chicago. So I usually have a crappy attitude going out to eat in this area. The all you can eat mussels was a nice find. I didn't care to order additional bowls, but the shear volume they need for the special means they are going to be fresh. Plus there is a choice of preparations. The cheesesteak egg rolls are also unique. In the future, I will actually look forward to visiting the family, so I can eat at Stingers. read more

The food is good, portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. The manager, Andrew, is great to work with, and he goes above and beyond to be sure you're happy. Came to Stinger's for the first time this past weekend for a family gathering of the girlfriend's. A good time was had by all. The decor is very nice. Service was friendly and fast. The food was phenomenal. I had the seafood ravioli and was very impressed. The cheesesteak egg rolls were also the best I've had to date - the perfect balance between the meat inside and that taste you expect when biting into the roll itself. Everybody was very satisfied with their meal. Only items that prevent me from giving out five stars is that the seating area is affected by the noise coming from the bar and that the portions were a little light. If my girlfriend wasn't giving away half a quarter of her sandwich, I would have still been hungry, and that's coming from someone who gets full easily. read more
