The mural at the altar was restored within the past 5 years so the colors are amazing. When I was a little girl, I made a deal that when I became rich I would pay to have the stained glass windows cleaned one piece at a time, with a q-tip (it seemed to me to be the best way to get into the crevices.) and I still plan to do that. When I called the parish office, I was told that a donation needed to be made before the certificate would be issued. While donations to a church are understandable and many parishioners willingly give, presenting a donation as a prerequisite for receiving a sacramental record felt inappropriate. Despite my concerns, I still submitted the requested donation along with the certificate request on February 26. As of today -March 12, 2026, we have not received the certificate, nor any update on the status of the request. What is most disappointing is the overall experience. Access to sacramental records should not feel conditioned on payment, and the urgency of our request seemed to be dismissed. For families sincerely trying to participate in the sacraments and reconnect with the Church, interactions like this can be discouraging. I hope the parish reviews how these situations are handled. Greater transparency, clearer communication, and pastoral sensitivity would make a significant difference for those seeking to continue their faith journey.
