Yesterday my 110 lb. dog Finn spent his first day at Critter Cottage. We were greeted at the door by multiple staff members all welcoming Finn and I. When I picked Finn up, instead of running out the door (time for dinner and nothing stands in his way when it comes to food) he went back to give the staff mbr. a doggie hug. If you have a long haired dog and are expecting professional groomers to use proper tools and techniques to GROOM your dog, do NOT go to this establishment. All they do there is bathe and shave with attitude. Save your money, time and dog the aggravation. Find a real professional. We have a Coton de Tulear who is NEVER supposed to be shaved. Valerie shaved the dog in spite of having given her specific instructions NOT to even cut the dog's hair more than an inch and having Marissa checking him for mats on entering. I took my 3 poodles in for grooming. My 7# 9 1/2 year old toy poodle died there. He had no known health issues. He has been groomed many times elsewhere. He was seen by twplo of his vets in Oct. and Dec. for allergies. Before going for his 8:30 appt. He Went potty, enthusiastically are breakfast, took his regular allergy med, jumped into the SUV, and happily ate his pupperoni. 3 hours late, dead at the groomers. His vets were brought to tears, shocked by the circumstances too. Much more I could say. read more

I have been taking my dogs to Critter Cottage for grooming for the past 14 years, and everyone there is great !! The grooming has always been excellent, and my dogs have been well taken care of. I highly recommend Su and her staff. read more

Our dog was there 5-1/2 hours worst grooming ever. Apparently small dogs that have ears and longer tails are problematic for them. When we went last year we had much better service. Never again read more

Thanks from Chang and me too. This is about the third time I've left my fur baby with the folks at Critter Cottage and once again - RAVE about it. I find it difficult to go on a vacation and leaving Chang in the hands of someone else, but it's much easier to do with Critter Cottage. I've had bad experiences in the past but never with Critter Cottage. I've had Chang return home very frightened; I've had him return with fleas; I've had him returned with weight loss and it's broken my heart every time. These guys go out of their way for their furry customers and the owners. While Chang is not thrilled with being left behind, he always comes back in the same condition that he left in. It's hasn't increased my vacation time, but it's made it less stressful. On behalf of Chang and myself, thank you so much for taking care of a real joy in my life. read more

We took our Shih Tsu in for a standard Shih Tsu cut. What a terrible job. It will be months before the hair on his ears grows back like it is supposed to look. They also removed the hair on his face so it's no longer the rounded way it should be. Called them and they didn't offer us any form of compensation. Then we were told grooming isn't an exact science. Don't go there. They didn't even come close to doing a good job and attitude to boot. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I am beyond livid at this place right now. I have a one year old Pomsky and a 14 year old puggle. Our pomsky, obviously, has to be groomed often due to her long double coat. We took her first in March where we asked specifically for a trim, nail trim and bath. The groomer that time did lovely. She honestly had never been groomed better. The annoying part was they called me at 11:30 to get her and after I said my fiancé would be there in 15 minutes, the woman they said "well we close at 12 so you really need to get here. " okayI didn't really feel that pushiness was necessary but let it slide. My fiancé then goes to pick up my pomsky and the woman at the front desk tells him she isn't ready and they didn't call us. He askes her to double check and somehow she thought we asked for a dog named Oscar instead of Sally and she was in fact done. Not sure how that works but again, they groomed her perfectly so we let it slide as the woman at the front is elderly and the owners mother. No problem, move on. Fast forward to this week. I called them Monday morning and had to leave a message stating I wanted to book my pomsky for a trim, nail trim and a bath along with my puggle who just needed a nail trim and a bath. It is now on a voicemail this is what I want. I get a call back, book the appts for the same thing and move on. I get a called Friday afternoon asking if I can move my Saturday appointment, assuming they overbooked themselves. I said I can only do weekend appointments so I can do next weekend but not a weekday. Woman says ok that's fine we will keep you for tomorrow and we AGAIN confirm what I asked for my dogs to have done. Drop the dogs off this morning at 8am, we were there before they even opened. They ask us to confirm what we want and I said VERY CLEARY "Sally needs a hair trim, nail trim and a bath. Max needs a bath and a nail trim. His hair isn't long enough for any hair grooming" Then I had to confirm my phone number twice because she kept saying it incorrectly. Ok no problem, we'll call you when they are ready. 11:30 hits and no call. I know they close at 12 and after last time with the pushiness to be there at 12 because they close I was concerned. Tried calling twice with no answer. So we drove there, only 15 minutes away. I was concerned they called the wrong number. We get there and they tell us they are just taking them back to be groomed. Hmmm, weird but okay. Flash forward to 12:56pm, they call to tell me my "beautiful doggies" are ready to be picked up. My puggle was perfectly fine. My pomsky on the other hand had been SHAVED! She is a double coated dog, they are not suppose to be shaved for numerous reasons because it is bad for them and their coats. I had to look at her three times before I could even tell she was my dog. Her entire BLACK TOP COAT was gone and it was just her white undercoat so close to her skin. I'm crying, shaking and asking "what did they do to you" The owner and her mother just stare at me and then the owner looks at me with a smile on her face and says "Is that not what you wanted?" I tell the woman through my crying that I absolutely didn't ask for that. That I clearly asked for only a trim and said you aren't suppose to shave double coated dogs. The owner as the AUDACITY to tell me she wasn't shaved because she is double coated. Which from the pictures you clearly see she has been shaved and I CAN FEEL IT. I will never EVER take my animals here again and I suggest you don't either because they clearly do not know what they are doing. I understand mistakes happen, but this was not a mistake. This was negligent 100%. As a groomer, they should of known this wasn't right. They could of called me to be like "hey we shouldn't do this" and I would of been like "yeah I know I didn't ask that." But no. They just buzzed my poor girls beautiful long fluffy hair for NO REASON. I brush her three times a week so I know she didn't have knots that would warrant this. This was pure negligence. Do not trust these people with your precious babies. read more

Just had my yorkie groomed yesterday and this was the second time he went there. He's scared and shakes uncontrollably still today. He keeps cowering when I approach him and he did this the last time I brought him there, just not as bad. His cut was okay, just a few long sections here and there that I needed to trim. This all could be because he's afraid of the vibration from the trimmers so I'm not going to say they abused him. However I won't be using their grooming service in the future. read more

My dogs are regulars there - have been for 2 years and they've never been a problem for this business however I haven't taken them in 2-3 months and when I called to schedule an appointment today they said they can no longer take my dogs because they're "too difficult" and "bark too much" that's wild .. it's almost like small dogs and dogs in general bark?? Don't recommend taking your dogs there if they bark or might be "too difficult " read more

Nice enough people there but we took our three poodles there one came back without her ears even combed out which is very important poodle grooming. One came back with his tail completely shaved off. The other one we asked for a Dutch cut on and we don't know what Butchery was done but it was not a Dutch cut can always post pictures if you're interested and I will admit also that they don't smell as good as they usually do when they come back from the groomers like I said nice enough people probably good for boarding I don't know but not for grooming go elsewhere. read more

Critter Cottage does an exceptional job! I have a year and a half old golden retriever, he is a scaredy cat but loved getting groomed and bathed by Jessy at Critter Cottage. When I picked him up he looked like a stud and smelled like a candle! Not to mention, his adorable fall bandana. The service is great, the people are welcoming, and the cost is extremely affordable. read more

I have been using this facility since my dog was three months old so that's a couple of years now and I have always been totally satisfied. My dog Coco a brindle Chihuahua has always come out happy well-adjusted and amazingly perfect grooming. I think if you will try them once you will be a long time customer. My daughter is the one who recommended this facility and she has been coming here for about four years. read more

The owners seem kind and compassionate enough, but after a one week stay at the facility both of my dogs had diarrhea. They had been to the vet just a week before boarding and were fine when I dropped them off. I am not sure why this happened, but it has never happened to my dogs at other facilities. read more

We have been going to Critter Cottage for about 8 years. We put up with them never being able to get the dogs groomed in a timely manner. For the last 2 years they have made major mistakes in grooming. They just did it again today. We told them we didn't want the dog's tail shaved with the puppy cut. "Ooops, sorry" Sue said. They still charged us $60 with no effort to make it good. Again, for the second time. Nice looking place, farm and all, but not consumer friendly. We won't be back. read more

We have 2 medium sized, shy dogs. We usually take them with on trips, but this time we had to find a place to board them. Critter Cottage was recommended to us by friends and thank goodness they did! Our dogs were happy and healthy and the staff was very warm and friendly and highly informative. They gave us a tour of the place and we left our babies feeling secure. When we picked them up, I even think the 'picky eater' had gained weight! We will leave our boys at Critter Cottage next time we go, and we will relax and enjoy ourselves and not feel guilty at all..... well, maybe just a little! :-) read more
