Downing replaced the old roof with white TPO. I also had new flashing, fascia, gutters, and downspouts installed. The VP of Residential Sales, Matt, was communicative beyond measure. No issue was too minor for him to resolve. And if ever there were a complication, he would present me with the options and data I needed to make an informed choice. Matt took plenty of photos of the job from multiple angles, so that I could inspect the work safely from the ground. His conscientiousness really made me feel like a valued customer, and that goes a long way in my view. The crew were very friendly and hardworking. They arrived on time and took breaks in shifts so that there was always at least a couple of guys actively on the job. In fact, my roof was finished a whole day sooner than the original estimate. I am very happy with the finished result. Between the craftsmanship, the work ethic, and the customer service, I would heartily recommend Downing Roofing to friends and family.

Initially, he was good to work with, and I was planning to hire him for several additional projects around my home. Unfortunately, my experience changed after that. When he came back out to look at the additional work, he quoted me nearly double what he had originally discussed and gave the impression that he wasn't interested in taking on the job. He eventually completed the work I hired him for, but when the insulation company arrived, we immediately discovered that part of the job I had already paid for had not been completed. As a result, the insulation crew and I had to finish the remaining work ourselves before the insulation removal could even begin. That was extremely frustrating, especially since I had hired and paid someone to ensure everything was ready beforehand. Based on my experience, I won't be hiring Joe again, and I can't recommend his services to others. I expected the work to be completed correctly the first time, and unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

We got a prompt call back and an estimator looked at the roof the next day. Our estimate was very detailed, offering several options. St. Louis Roofing and Exteriors had the best price and we really appreciated the fact that they didn't try to sell us a bunch of other things we really didn't need. Work on our roof was started fairly quickly and completed in an amazing 2-3 days. Our property was cleaned up thoroughly and we were happy. For a while. Then it rained and our new beautiful roof leaked. We called to complain and they got right back with us, came out quickly and worked on the roof some more. It was still leaking so they came out a second time and it's been dry as bone ever since. Is that great customer service, or what? No excuses, no arguments, they just got right on it and made it right. We've since moved to the Kansas City area or we would have them work on our home again in an instant! They were told by my HOA rep not to block…read morethe accessible parking spot or ramp so I have access to my home, also they are disabled spots and shouldn't be used for construction anyway. I came home to my parking spot and ramp to enter my home blocked, I asked the construction worker to move the truck, he attempted to ignore me. I had to honk at him repeatedly and wait about 10 minutes to get them to move. I also found out my neighbor had told them to move as soon as they parked in the spot and they ignored them and parked illegally. The next day they knocked on my door 4 separate times while I worked from home trying to force me to move my car from my accessible spot to get out of there way even though the HOA rep had said nothing about people needing to move for them, and again not what accessible spots are made for. Construction on the project got delayed 5 days beyond there promised timeline. They were made aware I needed access and still blocked access, don't give excuses do better. Avoid this company if you don't want to be dissatisfied.

This is going to be my 1 star review tomorrow AM:…read more I had a full roof replacement on a Friday. The following Thursday I had 7-9 roof cap shingles blow off. I called Tim the owner (who was not present during the install). He indicated he would be there in an hour. It was 4hrs later, he came and said he had to go get some adhesive. Two hours later (8:30) at night glued them back. On the next Monday, (my roof is now 10 days old), there were more tiles off. He said he would be there at 6:00pm. He did not show. On Tuesday I called and he said he would be there between 9:00am and 6:00pm as he would have to fit it in between "training". He was a no show, and no response to texts or calls. I tried to get a hold of him on Wednesday, and finally got him about 4:00pm. He said he was in the hospital since Monday night (when I talked to him Tuesday there was no mention of this). He said he would come by and look at it. He was a no show. Now he doesn't answer my calls or texts. Very unprofessional, poor quality, horrible communicator.

I hired SBS for deck repair, because my deck steps were falling apart. SBS replaced the steps and…read moremore to make my deck structure more secure. In the process of attaching the new steps, they inadvertently missed placing a 2x board against the beam. This created a trip hazard between decking and first step. Once I realized I asked for a work stoppage until it got remedied. They refused, and consequently because of the additional work that occurred, the only remedy available was to cut the deck board at the steps. This left a raw edge of the composite wood exposed on the deck. They would not admit to their mistake. And.. that is the issue... they will likely make this mistake again. I paid top dollar to get a deck solution that looks like an amateur did it. Construction is never perfect. But if you can't admit to your mistakes, then how can you get better? I literally wanted them to admit to it, so that this doesn't happen with their next customer. This is a painting company trying to do construction. Be careful.

They built a large planter in my front yard that passersby regularly compliment. They removed a large section of English Ivy, replacing it with grass. Finally they have done year end and springtime landscape projects so that the place looks great at the end of and start of each year. They finish these projects quickly and the work is first rate.
