When he came back out to look at the additional work, he quoted me nearly double what he had originally discussed and gave the impression that he wasn't interested in taking on the job. He eventually completed the work I hired him for, but when the insulation company arrived, we immediately discovered that part of the job I had already paid for had not been completed. As a result, the insulation crew and I had to finish the remaining work ourselves before the insulation removal could even begin. That was extremely frustrating, especially since I had hired and paid someone to ensure everything was ready beforehand. Based on my experience, I won't be hiring Joe again, and I can't recommend his services to others. They were very crabby, messy and just didn't want to be there (one guy was a little nicer on the second day). Needless to say, my house shows that. Painting brick takes some time and patience. They slapped up some paint, even on things I didn't want painted, and said done. There is lots of splatter and lots of places that just didn't get covered. They were kind enough to leave me some paint to do any touchup I may need to do. NEVER HIRE THESE PEOPLE! MRL Home Improvements was hired by…read moremy long-term general contractor to put on a new roof, and it was the worst experience I have had in 50 years of home ownership. Not one person of the 10-man crew spoke English, no bi-lingual supervisor ever showed up during the work, and they were totally careless about the damage they did to other parts of the house. Photos show the mountains of trash thrown on the porch, all around the yard, and onto the landscaping. There was so much being thrown off the roof that it was dangerous to step out any door. They couldn't repair all the damage they did and mess they made, but I guess they did end up paying for my GC to replace almost 100 ft of damaged gutters, 60 ft of bent fascia, and an air conditioner service call to dismantle and remove trash and 31 nails from inside. The list goes on and on. Thanks to the GC for getting the issues resolved as best as possible, but we had to cancel plans for multiple days while all the mess and damage was repaired. No reputable company would have treated our home this way, or unleased a crew of obviously under trained, disorganized, and careless workers. Worst home repair event of my life, and none of my friends or family have every experienced anything like this either. On the bright side, my GC did step up to the plate and get this resolved rather than these people just walking away. I hope their work installing backing, shingles, vents, etc. were up to snuff. At this point, only time will tell.
