How impersonable and inflexible! Life happens, things come up. Maybe try having a policy that if you cancel you still have to pay a certain amount if it's all about your time and money? I've never heard of a place dropping you because you have to reschedule more than ONE time. Try to have some respect that life happens and sometimes people need to reschedule.

Then today, two days before, they said I had to reschedule because they were having an "analytics meetin,g," I.e. not some patient problem but internal business. I offered to come on Monday or Tuesday at 5. Nope we can't do. Would you refund me the first visit. Nope we can't do, It is like playing a game of "Mother May I". In 62 years, a dentist has never, not once rescheduled, let alone for an internal business meeting. I have had dentists come in after hours for a root canal. When a judge tells me to be in court, I don't look in my schedule book, and say, gee, judge, you are going to have to reschedule. They are supposed to be PROFESSIONALS!!! NOTE: I checked with a long dentist I had in another college town. I was informed than other than patient emergencies and a dentist getting sick, they have not in their memory (which is long) rescheduled on a patient. I suspected as much. Not sure what to do now, since they won't refund the first visit.

Had an infection hit full force over the weekend, and got ahold of Hart Dentistry's after hours number. 9:00 this morning they had me in and I'm now one tooth and one massive infection less.. and so far feeling much better already! It is bright and airy and clean, and the staff is out of this world. They seldomly keep you waiting for long, and their billing has always been prompt and correct. Like many, I have a terrible fear of the dentist based on past horrible experiences. At North Liberty Dental, they have taken the time to listen to my concerns, and work to help alleviate my anxiety by being open and honest about what they are doing, and by asking for my feedback at all times. I feel comforted by the experiences I have had at this office. I imagine they'd be great for nervous children as well.

Fast forward about 10 years and I'm thinking about replacing the crown. My dentist in the Cities can't quite tell some specific info about the crown by looking at the x-rays and suggests I call my old dentist to get my records. I call today thinking it's going to be something like 6 weeks and a $50 processing fee to get my hands on the info, especially when I learn that my old dentist no longer works there. Instead, I spoke with Vicki, a wonderfully competent individual, who was able to pull up my records within about 2 minutes of talking to her. She did say that the specific info I was looking for (which, btw, I could barely articulate, "I need to know something about my crown. Was it put on directly or was there a post or something like that?") was probably on a paper copy, not on the computer, and asked if she could call me back. She called back within, I'm not kidding, 10 minutes and told me exactly what I needed to know. I love being pleasantly surprised like that! I wonder if my Flex Spending Account would reimburse my mileage, hotel stay, and drinks at the Sanctuary if I could go back to Iowa City for my dental appointments?
