Wine is a gal's best friend and I watched as they palmed off a would be suitor with nothing more than a glance. Heros. Wine by the glass in big bowled wine glasses with a great selection, and Elvis who I presume is the owner, knows his tipples. My pick of the eve was the Alto Monte - $14 a glass but by George that wine is as delightful as a magical miniature new born fawn prancing across your tongue on a rainbow. Food is basically nibbles. Sharing platters: a cheese one, a meat and cheese one and a Vego one with Cashew cheese. Toasties including one with Brie, cranberry and Rabbit terrine. Delicious. Anyone can google the origin of the name of this place, and I think it does every justice to the moniker. I think this may become my regular hangout.

From the outside it looks like just your local run-of-the-mill pub. Upstairs was a very different story. Forget drinks in the city where you end up meeting and greeting your entire facebook list, bring a couple hundred of your closest friends and family to this place. The place is so big it can easily hold that many. There's a separate room at the back to keep all your family's embarrassing antics hidden away, a lounging area with a main bar (with access to the pokies room), and a huge dance floor area with room for all your hired DJ equipment. It's all newly renovated and in perfect condition for you and your friends to make as much noise as you want into the early hours of the morning.

It's a beautiful establishment where you're greeted by a massive water feature in the lobby that looks like a mini oasis. And that's exactly what this place is - a mini escape. Restaurants, lounge, gambling, gym, this place has it all. For those like me that choose to gamble once in a while, they have a fun bingo machine (electronic version) which lame as it sounds, is quite fun and much faster than the usual elderly-ladies, meat trays and bingo stamps version. Though I don't encourage gambling - I've had a some good times (and wins) at Canterbury Leagues. Of course the complimentary soft drinks (yummy fire engines), cheese and crackers and Tim Tams might have something to do with it.

They have a 1kg pot of mussels as an ongoing special, ranging between $10-$15 dollars, with a choice of sauce and differing spice levels; lemon and pepper, cajun and if you like it hot, the spicy Korean Chilli. We opted for the medium spice level, which was a tasty cajun sauce. Speaking of Cajun, the fried Jalepeno poppers were a great starter and an even better share plate. They were huge and used fresh Jalepenos that weren't too spicy. But you must try the burgers. The dry aged t-bone burger is not only a cool looking burger with a T-bone as a crown, it was also super tasty. The use of the t-bone making this a fancy cheese burger with a nicely spiced, freshly ground meat patty, American cheese, ketchup, mustard, onion and fried onion for some crunchy texture. Due to the quality cut of meat used it's a little pricey at $19, but well worth it as it is a delicious burger. They were also advertising a Wagyu beef burger for $16, which seems like pretty good value. The Burwood Hotel has a nice comfortable modern dining space with friendly staff. They have also added a bit of excitement with some great American menu options, whilst still catering to those who love those pub classics. It is well worth a visit for a drink and a feed with friends.

There's a stage and bi-fold doors at the back of the stage. It's quite large. You can fit about 200 pax. Seated approx 150? A very unique and beautiful all for all occasions. There's one toilet and a parents room/bridal party room to store all your things. Upstairs has a good view especially for videographers and photographers. You can have caterers which is quite common. You need to book it with The Breakfast Point Country club and it does get really busy in the high season so be sure to book early.
