In October I had an annual vaccination appointment for my dog and the provider(s) ran behind by 20 minutes yet the receptionist didn't call to inform me that the provider(s) were running behind although I called to let them know I was in the parking lot.. What is irritating about that is if I were running behind by 20 minutes, I would have been TOLD that I needed to reschedule the appointment. I don't see how there time is more valuable than mine so I opted to reschedule rather than continuing to wait. Due to Lakeview Animal Hospital transitioning to a new system, I was looking at a 3 week lead time to get back into the practice which wasn't feasible for me because I live in a community with many dogs and I didn't want my dog to be subjected to contracting something that I was going to Lakeview Animal Hospital to receive preventative care for. The receptionist advised me to take my dog to Tractor Supply for the vaccines I was trying to receive at the scheduled appointment mentioned above. When I was trying to confirm that Tractor Supply provided those series of vaccinations I was talked down too as if I was supposed to know that Tractor Supply had other functions outside of providing "tractor supply". She made it seem as if I was asking stupid questions when I was simply trying to confirm the information she was sharing with me. It was embarrassing and insulting to my intelligence and really pissed me off because I was simply asking questions. Her tone on the call upset me because ultimately this entire situation was due to poor communication when I was never advised that the provider(s) were running behind 20 minutes!! I will admit that I called her out of her name as I hung up the phone BUT due to her poor communication and my frustration, my dog and I were dismissed from the practice. Absolutely absurd when this entire situation was due to Lakeview Animal Hospitals poor communication. Another instance of poor communication within the practice is when I brought my dog in knowing he had a yeast build up. I knew this already by the smelly paws and excessive licking/scratching. When I was expressing my concerns with one of the providers she took a piece of CLEAR PACKING TAPE, ran it across my dogs skin, took the PACKING TAPE looked at it under a microscope and charged me $55. I was thrown off when I received the bill and stressed that to the provider. I gave a very simple analogy which was that when YOU go to the gynecologist and tell her or him that you think you have yeast, they take a swab, put it on a glass slide, look through the microscope and confirm if you do or don't. That's not an additional charge within the visit. She didn't have much to say when I said that because it's true. If she would have COMMUNICATED that it's an additional charge to execute a task that takes all of a few minutes and that you essentially learn how to do in middle school biology, I would have opted out. All in all, I am disappointed with the care that I received for our dog. He's a registered emotional support animal to combat the loss of my husband and step daughters in a tragic accident. He's not just any old pet, he's a family member and he serves an unimaginable purpose for my daughter and I.

I've never encountered anything like this. I'm just out of $2000 and will now have to come up with more money to take him elsewhere. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone!!! She is the one that is untrustworthy, extremely unprofessional and is obviously out to take people's money.

Terrible experiences everytime we've gone to this clinic. One dog was misdiagnosed with an "upset…read moretummy" and died 3 hours upon returning home. Another dog last week was given antibiotics for a UTI after waiting 4 hours. A week later, blood was still present in her urine and she had no UTI. We took her to our local VCA clinic where we were told she likely needed emergency surgery for pyometra. Not trusting VCA Emergency to handle any continued care, we took her elsewhere and after extensive bloodwork, tests, ultrasounds and xrays, it turns out she did not need emergency surgery and it was either a cyst or an ovarian remnant missed during the spay (also performed by my local VCA clinic). We are waiting for bloodwork from the lab to confirm. All this testing only cost $1400 at Emergency Veternary Care Center Kalamazoo. Don't go to VCA Emergency unless you want to pay hundreds to thousands of dollars for multiple misdiagnoses on multiple dogs and have one pass at home. Go to EVCC for emergencies. The care was quality and they provide payment plans.

Around 2:00 AM, our dog began experiencing severe breathing issues. When we called VCA, we were told there was only one veterinarian available and they were in surgery, and that we would need to drive an additional hour and a half to Byron Center for care. We attempted to find a closer emergency option, but ultimately began the drive to Byron Center. Shortly after getting on the highway, our dog's condition worsened dramatically--she could not breathe and was in distress. In a panic, I called VCA again, begging them to allow us to bring her in. They eventually agreed to have a veterinary technician examine her. When we arrived, she was taken to the back immediately. We were later told that her throat was swollen shut and filled with blood and mucus. They were able to place an oxygen tube and initially said her breathing stabilized. Tragically, she then suffered a heart attack and passed away. I strongly believe that if she had been allowed to receive care immediately--when we first called--her condition could have been addressed sooner and the outcome may have been different. Being turned away during a life-threatening emergency cost us precious time. Adding to this, we were charged $350 for CPR, which was never discussed or authorized. We specifically requested oxygen support--not resuscitation efforts--and this lack of communication is deeply concerning. For a full week, I have attempted to speak with a practice manager regarding this situation and have yet to receive a call back. Each time I contact the office, I am given vague responses with no resolution. Additionally, I was told by a staff member that this situation was "basically my fault" for not immediately driving an hour and a half away, rather than seeking care closer. This response was both inappropriate and hurtful. Finally, I question why Paw Paw Vet would recommend this location as an emergency resource if they are unable or unwilling to provide immediate care when it is critically needed. We are devastated by the loss of our dog, Rosa, and deeply disappointed in how this situation was handled at every level.

It was traumatic for me and I can tell you it was probably way more for my sick dog. When "the doctor" came in after the "exam" he told me he saw maybe something on her gums but wasn't really sure until they did test; he was going to send someone in with a diagnosis plan. The person that came in was not educated with what she was presenting to me but gave me an estimate of roughly $1,800 for blood tests and things as extreme as an IV and catheter. I still have no idea what they thought was wrong with my dog. I said I wasn't going to do all of those things just to find out, the girl offered that maybe I could just do the hydration & that was $39. She said she would go put a new "diagnosis plan" together and come back. I still do not have my very sick dog with me, the lady comes back and the $39 hydration was now $98 I asked her why it changed and she said she didn't know... I asked her to find out. She left and came back and explained that the process would change if they didn't do the $1,800 plan, so it would be more. At that time I demanded they bring me my dog and I left paying the exam fee for absolutely nothing! This experience is remanent of an ASPEN dental Experience in the early 2000's where they take advantage of your lack of knowledge and fear to make an extra dollar. I took her there because I was so scared and my vet couldn't get me in until later in the day. I went to my vet appointment a few hours and paid $75 for meds and diagnosis and a clear path to a bill of health. Without invasive tests or IV & catheters. After paying for the "exam" at VCA... Everyone at this hospital knew him, knew his issues, and always asked about him even when I was there for another pet. They made special accommodations for him when he refused to come inside, even before COVID. They went above and beyond to make sure Magglio's needs were always met. When it was time to say goodbye and let him go, I could see that it affected the entire staff. It seemed to me at least that losing him was saying goodbye to a part of THEIR family too. I couldn't ask for a better veterinary hospital or a better staff to take care of my fur kids. I will always recommend that someone take their pet here. You won't regret it.

We recently treated ourselves to a small aquaponics setup from Back to the Roots, so we were in the market for a betta fish for the set up. A friend of mine had mentioned that this store had much better bettas than the big box shops, but we had a $3 coupon toward the fish from Petco so I went there first. The fish at Petco were twice to three times more expensive than MVPets and were much smaller and radically less vibrant than the ones here. Their selection was also much smaller. I immediately walked out the door at Petco and zoomed over to and MVPets. I was able to purchase my fish, rocks for the bottom of the tank, and a large piece of rock/fake plant for my fish to hide in (which he loves). MVPets has quite a few large aquariums full of fish in the main room, and then they also have a secondary room that is floor to ceiling small tanks. The selection of coral, anemone, and fish is incredible. I named my betta sushi, which was what my friend's daughter named her first fish when she was about 2 years old. She was pretty young and couldn't annunciate super well at the time, so it came out shoo-she, and I was "aunt Befff". Love that kid! And so far I'm really loving my fish, too PS: If you buy a betta, make sure you talk to the staff about how to keep your water at the appropriate temperature. They definitely like it hot, and we keep our house pretty cold, so I had to also purchase an inexpensive, small tank heater. They staff seems quite knowledgeable and eager to help.
