Rob White (He's not into titles) is the most down to earth orator on this side of heaven. The way he is able to reach and teach the masses all in one breath, all while stepping on a few toes (with the Word) is a wake up call to all under his leadership. Remember, if you are always comfortable in your thoughts growth is not happening! The praise and worship is amazing as well. Many songs are Freedom Church originals (I Finally Get It, had me in tears). The smiling and welcoming spirits of the Freedom Church family says a lot. Think about it. We attend church on Sunday after a work-filled week, sometimes great and sometimes quite trying. So, to see a family of smiles even when many are coming to be spiritually rejuvenated speaks volumes about the strong presence of God in this place. New Beginnings provides a shuttle service too. The shuttle will drop you off at the front door. My friend, Joseph used to be the shuttle driver. He really enjoyed it! I believe during the holidays they have a train the kids can ride. It's really cute and the kids enjoy it. It's so exciting for them. As you enter the church,the greeting team will be waiting for you. Their worship leader, Chanty is really good! I saw her come to tears as she was touched by the goodness of God. This was the children's mass, so the choir was complied with kids of all ages. They included, the organ, piano, flute and a few string instruments. I attended this church from about 6 years old until high school. On an average week, I would spend…read moreat least 10 to 15 hours a week at this place, including multi-day revivals, Saturday prayer mornings, Wednesday nights, and of course, Sunday mornings, not to mention additional holiday events. My mom and I started attending this church and upon our first visit, we were approached and invited to lunch with an "elder", who began courting my mom and ended up marrying her, against my will. Suffice to say, this man was not a godly man, and the church treated our family like outcasts instead of helping me. I was made fun of by the youth group and called a loner, was ignored, isolated, and humiliated to sit on the front row of this church with my "family", yet we were cordially ignored and avoided, eventually being asked to leave the church. It always confused me, how people who sang about helping others, grace, helping the helpless, chose to turn their backs on me. When I finally had the strength to leave Irving in 2008, I called my so called pastor of this church to seek guidance, support and finally use my voice and share the truth, something that I had not been able to do since 6 years old. No matter how many times I called his office, how many messages I left, I was repeatedly told he was busy, or unavailable. I even reached out to his family, which was of no use. It broke my heart, that a place that boasted they were so full of God's spirit, could reject our family instead of intervening. An entire organization who Saw ME as an embarrassment instead of being an advocate for a defenseless little girl. I can never again take this church seriously as they have put their money where their mouth is and have shown me for over a decade, their true colors. My advice would be hard pass. Like most churches, they will have modern affects. Fresh coffee. Bright, shiny smiles. Even wonderful people who are being unknowingly exploited for free labor AKA serving, however the "warm fuzzy" feeling that coats you as you walk in isn't the holy spirit. It's a song and dance to get you to fund their illusion and kush lifestyle. So incredibly sad that the gaudy, prideful and arrogant people of this church never took the time to see I needed help, that my mom was too worn down and emotionally weak to take care of me and leave the "Elder". We were surrounded a sea of religious leaders who never intended to get their pretty shoes dirty. Thanks for everything, Calvary Church, what a gem!

Warning from someone who was previously a member when this place was called Sword of the Spirit…read more Please don't take this review lightly. Many years of therapy have led me to finally release my experience of this place. I have nothing to gain but to know that someone was saved from experiencing the trauma I got from here, or that someone has experienced that there is no need to fear this place. Why now write this review after so many years? I left thinking that if I was bold enough to leave, maybe others would do the same. Boy, was I wrong. I thought well, perhaps the abuse would stop with me, another lie. After being contacted by someone who recently left the church and had attempted suicide, as I also tried to in the past when I attended this ministry, thinking it was the only way to escape this place. I hope to shine a light on those who are afraid to leave, as I was, but now live a life free and healed in Jesus' name. I was also advised by the detective not try to contact anyone at the time, because they could cause harm. Shortly after leaving, many of the members harassed me at my job, leaving me to restart my career elsewhere in fear that they would try to harm my family and me. They told me I had a choice to volunteer my time and give, but didn't really give me an option to not do so. I would have to clean the home of the socalled "Apostle," including one room that was filled with guns, which he would preach about how he would use them on people if they came against him. The most terrifying thing I witnessed was being forced to give everything I have to this place, my body, finances, time, EVERYTHING. If I was to say no, I was threatened, and told that this place was a last stop shop, and that if I didn't obey, I would die and go to hell for disobeying Tyrone Howell I was forced to accept gifts from this man to shut me up, and if I did not take them, I was rebuked in front of the church and shamed. The sad part is that everyone in that church continues to go through this abuse, watch others go through this, and cover it up as the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The singing was soulful and we've had "He Has Done Marvelous Things" stuck in our heads since. It was the first time we had ever sung it and we had goosebumps! The only reason for the 3 stars, is that while partaking of communion, a cell phone was plugged into a charger and playing hip hop music. Two teens burst into the room loudly and exited slamming the door. Communion is supposed to be a sacred time, and it was clear the youth haven't been taught to be reverent and respectful while others are partaking. No apologies were made to us by the teens or others members there. This congregation has evening communion for those who didnt partake in the morning and has a kitchen with fellowship hall. If you're familiar with church of Christ, you'll appreciate the heads up.
