As a Mecklenburg county resident, I paid just $500 to rent the chapel for a 3 hour time block on a Saturday. The chapel is only open on Thursdays and Fridays for visitors and then on Saturdays and Sundays for weddings. Pros: -Location.... right outside uptown so super convenient for guests staying uptown -Reasonable price -Great landscaping -Ample parking -Simple and pretty interior. Beautiful beams and small pews -Staff are easy to work with and helpful in scheduling your event Cons: -Tiny grooms room and brides room. There is not room to get ready in either of these spaces so you have to get ready before coming to the chapel. -There is just 1 tiny bathroom and it's in the grooms room. So there isn't a bathroom for the bride or guests. -There is no foyer, so when the chapel doors open you are seeing outside (this is something to keep in mind for weddings as the bride must have a couple people who hold the door for her).

Everyone was so into the Tinseltown theme! We really liked the Candy Land looking one, and American gladiators. We asked them to give us themed drinks, and they went at it! Both delicious. The dance floor was crowded later on in the night, we worked hard at getting it going earlier, but there was only so much we could encourage. Everyone looked beautiful, all sorts of dresses from ball gowns to swanky cocktail dresses. The VIP lounge was really nice to just have a seat and savor your VIP drink - made by fantastic bartenders with heavy hands. I felt so lucky to be a date, and treated so well by Yelp (as usual! Thank you, Yelp!). This is definitely on my calendar for next year. Fancy night, and a good cause - win win!

When my date and I first got there we walked around and noticed all of the very cool bars. Our favorite themes were the one that looked like candy land, and American Gladiators. We loved that each bar would make us their signature drink. The VIP area was very nice and a great place to rest your feet from all of the dancing. It did however, take people too long to get dancing. C'mon people, get on the dance floor! All of the people working the event were great, I could not have asked for better service. However, some of the people who attended were not gentlemen, but it's something you have to anticipate with all of the great drinks to be had. All in all a great night! It appeals to a wide variety of interests because it has performing arts, visual arts, and arts education with seven art galleries, three theaters and hundreds of art workshops and classes. They have a schedule of events so you can keep up with what is happening at the center. It is nice if you want to explore the arts more or if you want to get your family or children more into the arts.

From the outside, I would have never expected such potential. The large building is planted very near the tracks off of Tryon & Dalton - just a few minutes from Uptown. Now, I'm sure the space varies per event, but the folks at Lupus decorated it beautifully. Tons of tables, a large bar to the right, dance floor near the stage and plenty of walking around room. Plus, there are two old train cars outside the side doors that are perfect for additional entertainment options - the event last night had a fortune teller and a bones reader in these cars. Per Extravaganza Depot's website, it looks like they are full service event planning and execution company. Capacity wise, the site reads 350 seated and 600 standing and there are adequate restroom facilities and probably 200 parking spaces (total guess here). There aren't too many well put together venues in Charlotte that host these types of numbers, but Extravaganza Depot does offer a great option!

She had had eaten the majority of it when she discovered it. My other co-worker had a sweet tasting marinara sauce on his salmon. My chicken was very over cooked and tough to chew. Aside from that, the appetizers were good and the bartenders prepared nice drinks. The desserts were tasty. The DJ did fine. It's hard to accommodate everyone and their preferences when you have a large group but food should be an exception. Bugs should never be in a salad.
