I have done CrossFit for over two years and before that worked out at one of the bigger gyms in North liberty, regularly attending their group fitness classes. I say that to level set my experience. I guess I was expecting more of the pseudo high intensity classes that are offered at the bigger gym. You know what I am talking about. The type of class where more attention is paid to the activewear that someone is wearing as opposed to the actual workout intensity that they are putting forth. Let me tell you. The work out at versa was intense! I can honestly say that it was one of the more high intensity workouts that I have done in a long time. While it did not focus on the weightlifting aspect that I was used to from CrossFit, I found the cardio portion just as intense. Before the work out began I felt there was an adequate amount of time dedicated to stretching and warming up. While the workout was going the instructors were supportive and helpful in their coaching. While I am not a member I would not hesitate to recommend this location to anyone looking for a high-intensity workout.

I had run on (almost) the daily on my treadmill. But man... something was missing. Enter Versa Fitness. Let me rewind a minute. Yelp had an event with them a couple months ago and I have NEVER been so sore after a workout. But I had also never felt so ACCOMPLISHED. I am a sucker for a runners high -- stress melting away with elation and a decreased ability to feel pain due to the endorphins released after countless miles. But, with Versa. I'll take all the pain for the gain. (Cause trust me... there will be some pain.) After the Yelp event, I wanted to join right then and there. No joke. But with a little still at home and constantly being a mom taxi... plus the gym being ALLLLLL the way across town from me... it's just not in the cards. Yet. Anyways. Imagine my excitement when I saw Versa was offering twice a day classes online during this hot mess? AND that they were free?! Nick, Josh and Ashley are amazing to workout with. So much passion and knowledge. (And did I mention heart? The gym literally loaned almost all of their equipment out to members when this COVID-19 businesses shut them down.) Last night I enjoyed a wonderful kettlebell class with Ashley. We did three sets of four exercises -- four times. What an amazing way to destress as you quarantine! They even have body weight only options for exercises... so no equipment necessary. Thanks, Versa Fitness!

I've dropped in twice now while on business travel to the early class and plan on going back the…read morenext time I am in town. They have a nice space which I understand they are moving to an even larger property - I took this as a good sign that they are growing. I didn't get to spend much time with the coaches because the classes were pretty large (I could see they we're keeping an eye on me) but what stood out was the community is very welcoming. Lots of people introducing themselves and cheering everyone on was a great way to start the day.

All coaches have an attention to detail that helps you improve your movements--whether you're going through on-ramp or you're a veteran athlete. Coaches break down the movements each class, every day (which has to get monotonous)--but I believe that's because they realize the importance of returning to the basics no matter your level of experience. CFP also does a great job of varying movements and class structure to keep you coming back.

Incredible group of people that run the 2 locations (downtown RI, Utica Ridge Bettendorf) Who are very friendly and eager to help you or make a delicious smoothie from their smoothie bar for you. Both facilities have everything you could want for an excellent workout and are cleaned very frequently and efficiently. All of this for a beyond reasonable price has made me never look back. Definitely recommend checking them out!

gym is pretty decrepid, unmaintained, and fairly gross/unclean…read more Equipment (4/5 in "effort" but 2/5 in reality): While they have a decent variety equipment, the vast majority of all the equipment is partially malfunctioning or broken (list provided below). - Nearly every incline-adjustable bench is slanted to a side and are cheap versions and are unable to support heavier weights safely. - 2 sets of cables, none of the cables have equal resistance and are rickety. - strength ewuipment like belt squat are cheap versions that do not have the proper motion. - nearly all padding is tore up and the preacher bench has such old padding it feels gross to touch - awful rubber dumbells mixed with badly maintained iron dumbells - majority of plate loaded equipment is has alot of rust and not maintained - cardio equipment is decent though. Layout and Space (2/5) The layout appears to be an attempt to be a fun and different gym with each room (place used to be a racketball court), but it fails as it feels cheaply and lazily done. How the equipment is spread out makes super-setting very difficult. A scavenger hunt is needed to find plates, cable attachments, and clips. Floors are really gross and appear to rarely be cleaned, while there is what seems like a forever broken hottub in the locker room the owners seem to not care to replace or remove to spruce up the feel from decrepid to decent. 1 male bathroom has a gerry-rigged stall and 1 urinal, but gross and there is never soap or paper towels. Atmosphere (1/5): The gym doesn't foster any Atmosphere. If you go hard and push yourself, you will get shunned and many patrons are there simply to get a "feel-good" workout as there is not intensity or focus. The issues with the equipment and layout make it difficult to push yourself here. The atmosphere is also abit gross with the clientele that go. Hours: 24/7 with a phone operated entry is a positive. For any serious or semi-serious fitness or weightlifter, it's not the go-to gym. Hours and location are convenient but that is about it.
