At first glance, this spot has all the cozy charm of a great little mountain gym, but once you're in you'll find that it's much more than that. Having to travel a lot for work, I've dropped into gyms all over the country. And the distinguishing factor that helps some standout from others is not the sleekness of the space, the equipment or the athletes, it's the coaching. Crossfit Breckenridge has found itself a really gem in Dan Messinger and anyone who drops in will find out quickly why. Everything from the warm-up, to the daily skill, to the workouts are all very well thought out and finely crafted. Every day workouts are laid out in "Ski terms" of difficulty level: Green (Scaled Easiest) Blue (Scaled Intermediate)and Black Diamond (RX). Dan and team require everyone to sign up for classes to keep them small and as not to over crowd. Which give the coaches ample time to work with everyone on cues and technique. This gym is highly recommended if you're in town and need a great workout and ever eager to learn how to be a better athlete. If you're fortunate enough to live in the area and would like to try Crossfit, this is by far the best place to start. read more

I wanted to make sure I got some work outs in while on vacation in Breckenridge for 9 days and Crossfit Breckenridge was the perfect place for that. Did one 6:00 AM class and two 5:30 PM WOD's. Coach Dave and Coach Dan were great and very helpful. You can tell they truly care that you learn and do techniques correctly. Having never split jerked before, I was slightly hesitant but Dan made sure I did it, and did it correctly. All of the other athletes at the box were very welcoming and helpful as well. Although I never felt affected by the elevation while snowboarding, I still made sure to break up some of the reps just to be safe. When I come back next year I will be sure to drop-in every day that I am in town. read more

Can't say enough great things about this gym! The space was cozy, but very functional! A group of 5 of us came in late after driving 2 hours from the airport to do the open workout & Dan was awesome to let us take our time to warm up & do our thing! He was an awesome coach, went through the standards with us, and cheered us on! He was patient enough to even take pictures afterwards! (Also loved that they sell cans of O2). To top it off.. got a personal email that night, Dan had taken amazing pictures of all of us DURING the workout-- even caught & sent me a video of my muscle up in the workout!! Dropped in just once while we were in Breckenridge skiing so that I could finish the Open 18.3 WOD. I went to the 6am class and everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The class wasn't too busy either which was nice. Coach Dave was great! I was really worried about not only the workout but the altitude as well! Dave talked us through the challenges of working out at 9600 feet and then offered plenty of tips and strategies to make the most of the workout. He was also super motivating during which I loved! If we ever make it back to Breckenridge, I'll definitely drop in again! read more

This gym is awesome! Dan is an excellent and meticulous coach that has a knack for pushing you just the right amount during WODs. I dropped in while in Breck and he made the process seamless. I had concerns about training at altitude due to my being a sea-level dweller, and he made sure to address my worries and scale the WOD accordingly. I dropped in for three consecutive days after Christmas and was really impressed with the box, the owner Dan, the workouts, the gym and even the two dogs that joined us each day. The warms ups complimented the strength and the WOD each day and it was apparent that Dan truly thought through the programming each day. I was in the area with a group on vacation and dropped in to CF Breckenridge. I was very pleased with the experience. For background I have dropped in to CF gyms across the US. CF Breckenridge is one of my favorites. To start Dan the owner was focused and made me feel at ease. The members were great and treated me as if I was one of them. We had a blast at Crossfit Breckenridge! It was clean, organized, and loved the style of coaching. I've been trying to conivince my friend to get back into Crossfit and he's been hesitant ever since he had a bad experience at another Crossfit gym in FL. He's kept talking about CF Breckenridge ever since our workout and he wants to try out Crossift classes now. Coach Dan was patient and motivating! Wish this gym was in Denver!! As a coach myself who likes to travel, I've visited many-a-box. Dan is knowledgeable and passionate about this little gym, and doesn't skip over drop-ins as they join a class. I love when the CrossFit community shines, and boy does it with CrossFit Breck. Expect smaller classes with challenging programming (and keep in mind/stay humbled by the whole 9,600ft thing) -- and afterward walk to BreckFast for some post-wod goodness. Dropped in for my first ever CrossFit work-out. Dan gave me excellent instruction, and offered some modifications to accommodate my troublesome knees. I'm a 70 year old woman, and no stranger to gyms, but this was an entirely new experience for me. It was work, but I pushed through it, with the help of Dan's encouragement. I also appreciated the early morning classes available so that my travel plans were not disrupted. I dropped in for a workout last month to see how I would fare at elevation doing a CrossFit workout - and really liked CF Breckenridge! Both the owner/coach and the other members were very welcoming. The facility was nice, well equipped, and clean. Dan provided a high level of coaching and encouragement. If I lived up in the hills I would definitely become a member. Dropped into Crossfit Breckenridge on vacation from California. Dan the owner was super nice and very welcoming. We did open gym and did our own Thing. The gym was super clean which we always notice and the space was very open and functional. Definitely recommend this gym for anyone wanting to get a quick workout in while on vacation. This was the best place to train at 6am ever! Strong smells of... Fresh air in the mountains ;) the workout was fun, the members were welcoming, the coaching was great, laid back and effective. My dad and I dropped in while we were up in Breck skiing for the weekend. Dan was beyond welcoming and a great coach! Became a member while visiting for the summer. I really enjoyed the workouts, and was challenged every day! I came from a non-crossfit gym, and all the coaches did a wonderful job teaching me.
