I started CrossFit here back in 2013, and when I moved to Anchorage in 2015, I knew I was going to miss it! I'm lucky enough to get to spend the summer here in Fairbanks, so the first thing I did was to run out and get my membership renewed! The staff are incredible and very approachable - - with level two certifications and years of experience, I look to the coaches for support and advice. They're great at encouraging athletes to do their best! If you're on the fence about trying out CrossFit Fairbanks, you have nothing to lose! read more

When I moved to Fairbanks I was happy to find a CrossFit gym in town I really liked. After severa years of doing CrossFit this was the first gym is been to that also had dedicated powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting clubs with their own equipment and programming. CFFairbanks has everything from new moms and teenagers to elite level competitive athletes, all working together in a friendly community, and all improving their fitness. read more

I came for a drop-in while visiting Fairbanks in February and had a great time. Casey was very helpful and punctual responding to my emails and the coach and other athletes were very nice and outgoing. The gym is spacious and well equipped, drop-in fees are about average and they have a ton of t-shirts you can buy in lieu of the drop-in fee. If I'm ever back in Fairbanks I'll be sure to stop by again. read more

I'm writing this mostly in response to Candriann's post. It sounds like she did a drop-in, and hadn't been to a box prior (forgive me if I'm wrong). That is a mistake. Yes, you can't learn the moves in 1.5 hours. I've been going for a year and a half and I'm still not perfect with a lot of the moves. There is now a beginner's on-ramp course that lasts a few weeks, but the reason there wasn't one before is because there used to be so few people that attended classes, and the owners and instructors could work one-on-one with new people. In the past few months there has been a huge influx of new people, resulting in less one-on-one attention. The owners and other instructors are great; they know what they're doing, and will help without you asking. They want you to get better. Also, they are very approachable and reasonable, so I am surprised about the pricing problem that Candriann had. They don't try and "hide" anything and they aren't out to get people. Lastly, the ego. I have no idea what she is referring to. Maybe it's like that in some boxes, but definitely not here. When I started, I was terrified. I had never done anything more than running and playing soccer in high school. So, my weightlifting knowledge and experience was zero. I was nervous about lifting in front of others that knew what they were doing, and even more because I could barely lift the bar! But, the instructors and owners were (and still are) extremely patience, nice, helpful, AND motivational! Everyone is! People do not want to be disturbed when in the middle of a lift or a workout, but that doesn't mean they have a large ego or think they are superior to anyone else. If you're thinking about trying CrossFit Fairbanks, don't let Candriann's review discourage you; come decide for yourself. I absolutely love it, and have made incredible progress fitness-wise. read more

I really love this gym. Everyone is eager to help you out and they really know their stuff. I like the 2 week beginner class. It really left me feeling like I had a good foundation moving forward. There was a 50% off promotion when I signed up. I really liked this because I wasn't familiar with CrossFit and it gave me a chance to see first hand if it's what I wanted to do. I immediately fell in love with it! I also like that I am not bound in a contract, they just need 15 days notice to cancel or make changes to my account. I was going out of town for 3 weeks and gave them a heads up. They offered to prorate that month and then push my billing cycle back no problems! I've never been to a gym where they would prorate a portion of the month that I would miss. And the workouts themselves are amazing. I've gotten so much stronger and more physically fit(I look a lot better too!). I've made more progress here in the last 6 months than I have in the last 5 years! I can't even describe it. Give it a try! You won't regret it! read more

Well, for now it's look good. But definitely I'll be hitting this box hard when I get to Fairbanks. I'm glad it's nearby...To be continued.

Even though the schedule seemed a bit restrictive, I thought I would try this, but found it to be more of a social club than an exercise facility. It's definitely overpriced for what it is. read more

I have absolutely loved working out at Crossfit Fairbanks. When my husband first encouraged me to go I was terrified and very reluctant. I hadn't been working out for quite a while and I had never lifted at all. I was quite nervous to go to my intro session, but it was awesome! We spent some time working on some very basic movements and doing an easy crossfit workout at the end which absolutely kicked my butt. I was very impressed with the trainer who did my intro. Right off the bat while watching me squat he picked up that I had a tiny leg-length discrepancy (without me telling him) and gave me awesome tips to help me work with that. After that I started going to workouts several times a week. I am very shy and not very willing to ask for help so it was great that everyone is friendly and the trainers are very proactive about seeking you out and making sure you can do the moves safely. The trainers know who is new and they take extra time working with the new people, coaching them through the movements, helping choose the correct weight, and scaling the work out as needed. Another great thing about this box is the diversity of the people there. There is a large military community here and I was afraid I would be in classes full of alpha male soldiers. Instead I found the classes full of both men and women, young and old, and the whole range of physical fitness. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Crossfit Fairbanks. Since I have been working out there I have had many compliments from co-workers on looking healthy and thin. I actually gained muscle weight, but lost inches around my waist. I am the thinnest and the healthiest I have ever been. Try it, stick with it for a month, and you won't be able to quit! :-) read more

I am a part of a military family and we moved to Fairbanks during my last trimester of pregnancy. Because of my state, scaling and expert coaching was a must. I found it here. Now I'm 6 months postpartum, still in recovery, but I'm on my way to being in the best shape of my life. I know the industrial chic of crossfit along with rows and piles of weights everywhere are intimidating, it was for me when I started a little over a year ago. (Different box, but similar design aesthetic) However industrial does not mean cold. The coaches and owners only want to see you succeed, in fact they might get more excited to see you hit a goal than you yourself. As a person who lives life as a nomad, this friendly, tight knit, positive group of folks is a godsend. Oh, and my jeans not only fit, there's not a bit of muffin top either... 6 months after baby! If you're even marginally interested in seeing if Crossfit fills your fitness cup, I highly recommend Crossfit Fairbanks. read more

I've been a member of crossfit Fairbanks for a little over a year now. Being new at anything is a little intimidating for anyone, especially a crossfit box. There are all these weird movements you have to try and learn. When I first started they went over each movement with me during the intro class which was only an hour and a half long. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty scared going into my first class. Come to find out though the first 20 minutes of every class is spent going over each movement in the WOD to help you get to know what your doing and stretch out. The instructor will go around to each person and watch you do the movement as they warm you up with progressions. That was a huge relief and is always very helpful. In all WODs every movement and weight is scale able and the instructors are always on top of letting everyone know, especially if there are new people in the class. I for one will vouche for that, because I had to scale a lot of movements when I first started. If you don't feel comfortable with a lift or certain movement, speak up. There is an alternative to everything in the WODs and the instructors are more than willing to accommodate someone with a movement. Kane has 3 different strength programs going on at his gym for beginners-advanced lifters. If you want to get better and your new at the gym, why not start at his level 1 strength program which in turn actually helps with the big power lifting and some olympic lifting movements in a generic WOD. He also opens his gym 45 minutes before he teaches class for people to go in and do strength. When I first started I actually took the time to go in during that time frame to learn the movements and ask questions. I was full of questions, which I'm sure anyone new at anything is. In no way was I turned down or felt discriminated. Everyone at the gym is very friendly and encourages you to be better and PR your lifts. You can't get discouraged if you have only been to one or two classes and don't feel like "the coach" is cheering you on. I know when Im working my ass off during a WOD I don't hear anything in the background except my breaths. Knowing I want to excel and get a good time, because the only person I'm really competing against is myself. At the end of the WODs there are always high 5s or "good jobs" going around to everyone. The gym always has something going on whether it be a competition or seminar with some big name coming to teach new techniques and ways to help PR in weights. Kane does a lot for his clients and the people who are interested in improvement inside and outside of his gym. No where in Fairbanks do you find a gym wanting people to get better and learn from the best. He opens these up to the public and makes sure all the places around town knows of the big events coming up. I was appalled after reading the only review about one of the best Crossfit gyms and cheapest for that matter in the nation. This program is hands down one of the best out there. Kane actually cares about what he's doing and is always researching new things and ways to help his clients improve. He gets his ideas from the best and actually turns it into his own style of teaching. Each one of the trainers at the gym are certified Crossfit trainers as well and there is always one of them there to go over movements with you and to help you with your technique. Never have I ever had a cold shoulder to me by any one of these trainers, let alone the people there. My advice to anyone and everyone is to come try it out. This is one of the best decisions and investments I've ever made, and if you haven't tried it out you're missing out! Its.Totally.Worth.It!!!! read more

Crossfit Fairbanks is the best form of fitness that I have done. Everybody there is great. Candriann's post is crap. Don't listen to her information. It's all false. Everyone there encourages and pushes everyone else during the workout and the instructors also encourage all of their lifters. I have never been to any other gym and seen people gain strength the way that the people who get serious about it. This place is hands down the best place in Fairbanks to workout. This is the one gym you can come to and not have to deal with all the meat heads and feel like crap because you don't look like them. There are people at every skill level at this gym and they all help motivate each other and give pointers if they see some who could use some help with technique or any other area. The best thing is if you have a specific area you would like to work on or have problems with a lift or technique all you have to do is ask, either the instructor or another member, and any of them will be more than willing to help and if they can't help they will get someone who can. Everyone here is constantly improving and setting new goals. So don't listen to some angry, bitter person who has no idea what she is talking about but thinks she does because she came once and realized it was to hard for her and decided she would go to planet fitness where its easy and no one is there to push you and encourage you to push yourself Just try it for yourself read more

This is the only gym I've stuck with on a consistent basis over the years. There is something for everyone here, no matter your fitness level, and you can customize it to fit your goals. Whether you want to focus on strength, cardio, power, speed, flexibility, endurance, agility... it's all covered here. You can focus on WODs, increasing your strength, competitive Crossfit, power lifting or Olympic weightlifting. You have the benefit of motivated and experienced coaches, group settings, and supportive peers who always encourage you. If you have a competitive side, they also host several competitions and meets throughout the year to further help you improve your own numbers or even break State records! They've also added additional class times throughout the day so it can fit almost anyone's schedule. I believe the price is very reasonable compared to other gyms, considering the equipment provided and ready access to the coaches every time you go in. I have no athletic background and have only dabbled in other gyms or forms of fitness throughout the years... but I can't even believe the things I'm able to accomplish after coming here for more than 2 years -- I can't even count the number of meets I've competed in, either. With the support of the coaches and peers in the gym, I've achieved things I never imagined I could. It has changed my life! Don't be afraid, just try it. read more

My husband and I have attended CrossFit Fairbanks for 2 1/2 years now. I have found it to be one of the best decisions I've made. I have grown in leaps and bounds in my overall fitness. When I first started I have to admit, I was a little intimidated. I had never done any type of fitness that was this intense, but the owners and trainers are very welcoming and encouraging people. They really do care about your questions, concerns and technique during the workouts. If they see you struggling with something, they are more than willing to help you improve. It feels like you have your own personal trainer. After you start crossfit, you realize that no other type of workout routine comes close to the results you get from this gym. I also did it the entire time I was pregnant and the trainers were more than excited to help me keep the strength that I had gained pre-pregnancy and after baby, I am happy to say that I was back at pre-baby weight 5 months after I had my baby. Candriann's review, I feel, has more false information than true. I have never once felt that the owners are "unmotivating, egotistical, money-grubbing business". They are great people and you should try to get to know them yourself. Please don't take the information from the negative review Candriann has posted, because it is completely inaccurate. This gym is awesome! read more

Unlike the reviewer who gave CF 1 star, I have thoroughly enjoyed working out at CF. I came to CF with somewhat of a crossfit background. Since joining the gym here in Fairbanks, I have found both an environment in which others encourage you to push yourself as well as a training environment that has allowed me to PR in all lifts. The owners are dedicated to their members and offer advise and coaching that is truly helpful. As a woman, I was a bit intimidated when I started at the gym. I quickly became comfortable with the WODs and how to scale them to my own strength. Again, the owners of the gym made sure I was improving in form and encouraged me every step. If you are looking to feel good, get strong, and in shape you need to come to Crossfit Fairbanks. You are a giant pussy if you don't! read more

Absolutely the best CrossFit Gym in Fairbanks. The coaching staff is phenomenal, led by the Fittest Woman in Alaska (can't find that at any other gym). This gym is more than Crossfit, they specialize in Power Lifting, Olympic Lifting, Teen classes, and even offer Yoga! You don't have to be an elite level athlete to join, any level is welcome and the CrossFit Fairbanks Team will work with you. This family owned and operated gym will bring you in like family on day one and you will leave this place a stronger, better, and more healthy person. I truly miss my CrossFit Fairbanks Family! This CrossFit box is truly superior! I've been a CrossFit athlete for about a year and as an active duty military member I've dropped-in all over the country and in several locations in Europe. Hands down, CrossFit Fairbanks has the most knowledgeable and involved coaching staff I have worked with thus far. Multiple coaches are CF Level 2 coaches, clearly demonstrating their experience and expertise. The community is great and there are some terrific athletes in their community! Sam and her team really care about your progression as an athlete and the coaching they provide. The facility is awesome as well! Cannot strongly enough recommend CrossFit Fairbanks! read more

I loved this gym while I was there. I have tried other CF gyms, but I still find that this one is the best. The CF community that you find in boxes is alive and well here. They do focus more on strength compared to other crossfit gyms, but if you want to see how much weight you can lift, this is perfect. Kane and Laci are excellent owners/coaches and want to see their members succeed in the CF world and feel good about themselves. As far as price goes, I think it is more than reasonable. I paid monthly without ever having to sign up for recurring payments, which is something I have to do down here in TN. read more

High quality facility. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. New ownership clearly has a way ahead to improve the organization and its members. Wide variety of equipment to meet your goals, be it general fitness, sports/athletics, CrossFit, Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, etc. Open and viable for all backgrounds and levels of fitness, from beginner to advanced. Their 24-hour access program is excellent for military, police, fire, medical/shift workers who want a quality gym outside normal business hours. I strongly recommend CrossFit Fairbanks. read more

I have been Crossfitting for 5 years and I'm so glad I am a member here. The new owners Sam and Casey are very personable and care about their members. The 24/7 access is amazing.. very few Crossfit gyms offer this and I am so grateful as I do different programming. The gym itself is well taken care of and members all pitch in to keep it clean and looking nice, one of the reasons I love the community of this gym. Would recommend this gym to anyone! read more

CrossFit Fairbanks is hands down the best CrossFit gym in town. The facilities are well maintained, the new ownership has got the right idea that it's all about a strong community and helping everyone reach their varied goals.
