I had a terrible experience at this crossfit gym. A friend invited me to try the gym to see if I wanted to join. The trainer or owner was very rude and discouraging. He basically spoke in such a way as to discourage me from joining or try the workout. He seemed to be bothered that I was interested in trying the gym. I've never experienced such a treatment from any gym or organization. I am definitely not joining if it's to have a person like the trainer to teach me or encourage me to get fit. read more

I've trained in alot of gyms with alot of people from Military to law enforcement but what I must say about CFG is the not only a mix of great people from great Fields but fantastic coaching from people who really care. The constant hours open make it the perfect gym for my schedule if I have to grab a class before breakfast and the sun rise, slip in for lunch or even a late night 830pm class the gym is open coaches are training and weights are clanging and banging. read more

Be leery of the owner Oren, doesn't follow his word regarding cancellations and as shown below sends interesting messages to women. When I initially joined Oren told me memberships are month to month. After some months I got my girlfriend to join with me. We both eventually decided to try out other places for fitness and when I told Oren we were leaving, he told me two weeks notice wasn't sufficient time. I reminded him he told me I could cancel at anytime and I even checked their website for a cancellation policy and there wasn't one (there still isn't). After the conversation Oren said he will honor the cancellation but has meant to put the cancellation policy on his website. Without fail I was still charged for a new billing cycle and had to go back and question why this was happening, eventually I got the refund. You'd think this is where the story ends but it isn't. After my girlfriend and I quit, oddly enough Oren had sent text messages to her asking if she wants to come back and that he misses seeing her. I found it odd I never received similar messages. My girlfriend and I had a good laugh about it, honestly we weren't surprised as we had seen him cozying up to females in the gym before and as far as we knew he was already dating one. We let it go because we had both moved on and didn't care to go through the work of posting a review. Fast forward a year and Oren started sending personalized emails to her again, which of course I haven't received either. It's a shame that a gym with classy employees has such an unprofessional man running the establishment. I'm sure she is not the only person he's run this act with but I leave this review as a warning to any women or men trying to share fitness with their significant other. read more

Before I discovered CrossFit I half-assed my way through an elliptical, took some crappy bootcamp classes and lifted weights like a girl. Always wondering why my body wasn't changing. Turns out, I was doing it wrong. I've only been at this box one month and already my gains are tremendous, with my body accomplishing things I never thought possible. Make no mistake - this will be the hardest workout you have ever done. Ever. Halfway through the Workout of the Day you will wonder if you can even finish. Sweating and breathless, with every muscle screaming, you somehow achieve your last rep, mark your time, and collapse in a heap. Several minutes later you will give your fellow CrossFitters a pound, beam at what you've just done, and anxiously await the next time you can do this. Why? I have no idea, it's the CrossFit koolaid. You're probably thinking "I'm too old, I'm not in shape enough, I'm going to get hurt, it's too expensive, blah blah". Forget it. You're never too old, the workouts can be scaled to your fitness level, the coaches watch your form like hawks, and frankly, you can't afford not to. The coaches here, Oren and Al, are amazing. Seriously, I can't believe these guys found themselves in this small town and I'm so grateful they have. Oren may be the most knowledgeable trainer I have ever worked with. If you are looking for a quick weight loss fix. This is not the place. CrossFit Glendale offers an environment to nurture and develop a health life style. This is done by providing group classes which challenge the body as well as your spirit. It help to establish a long term healthy lifestyle, by altering the workouts, progressing into challenging phases, of weight training, aerobics, and gymnastics. There are no egos, nor judgements, everybody struggles to obtain the same goal, a healthy fit body. The coaches help you through the workouts to insure safety and proper form. No intimidation, after a while you learn that you are your greatest motivator and they provide plenty of goals for you to to keep striving for. I am not sure about the review below with 2 stars... and just disagree altogether. I walked in on a Sunday and the gym was closing, Oren and Tina stayed open and talked with me and went through what I should expect. I am a former competitive amateur boxer and and Muay Thai practitioner. They are both amazing sports and are great for exercise and fitness. However, they are for BOXING and MUAY THAI. They will get you fit but fitness is relative to what you are looking to do. Try Training muay thai and boxing and then do a WOD in a crossfit gym or vice versa. I can honestly say my endurance would have increased had I done crossfit as a supplement to my boxing training. I found the gym to be full of nice people. Chatty, said hello etc... I wasn't looking to go in and make friends in the first 5 minutes, I was there to train. Anyone who is serious about it is there to do the same. The friendship will form through consistent training with people and building relationships with them. ** I was probably the most hesitant and reserved individual to try crossfit to begin with. I just had a SLAP tear repair and had finished a few months of PT. Im only 6 months post op! Its been a few weeks, Oren was true to his word and walks me through every exercise that requires the use of my shoulder and gives me multiple alternatives if I feel its compromising my shoulder. I went in on an open gym day and he worked with me specifically for most of the time I was there. Overall, I have no complaints and nothing but thanks to the members and coaches at Crossfit Glendale. My fitness is improving drastically, body shape and weight is changing for the better and most importantly my shoulder is significantly stronger, stable and the mobility has increased 10 fold. The trainers who help out the newer guys give this place the class and quality that it struggles to maintain because of the owner, Oren. I told him I'd be canceling my membership because of work commitments. When the billing cycle came around, I was still charged. I called him (sent to voicemail) and texted his personal number asking to rectify the situation but he never got back to me. I've just completed my 3rd week in which I go 3 times a week! Let me tell you, Ive been seeing immediate results. The staff is incredibly motivating, instructive, and helpful. They will modify the workout until you nail the correct form (so important!). Once you get the workout down, they'll be next to you telling you that you got this, and helping you build more weights and challenging yourself. It's like a small community, everyone high fiving each other once the hour is up. About two years ago I was walking down Cooper Avenue on my way to take a spin class at New York sports club. As I was walking, a group of fit looking people ran by me. I thought to myself I should be working out with them enjoying the beautiful weather! I noticed one of the ladies had a t-shirt on that said Crossfit Glendale. At this point I had heard of Crossfit but didn't really know what it was. When I got home I googled Crossfit Glendale and found their website cfglendale.com . Their photo gallery was full of beautiful pictures of men and woman lifting weights and doing gymnastic work. Seeing photos of women working with heavy barbells and doing pull ups was particularly inspiring to me. At this time, my idea of strength training was taking New York sports club classes using the 5 and 8 lb dumb bells. I had never touched a barbell in my life and I knew I had a lot of hard work ahead of me but I couldn't wait to get started. I got in touch with Oren, the owner/head coach and scheduled a time to come in and learn more about Crossfit and to do a baseline workout. I was super nervous but excited at the same time. He spent about an hour with me explaining what Crossfit is and the community aspect of the sport. And then it was time for my baseline workout... So at this time I thought I was in "ok" shape. My workout consisted of airsquats, push ups, sit ups and rowing. It was very short, maybe 5 minutes or so, but it was more work than I had ever done in those hour long classes I was taking at New York sports club. At this moment I realized that working with Oren as my coach was exactly what I needed. I was bored with my old fitness routine and felt I had hit a wall. I was ready to be challenged and make some big lifestyle changes. Fast forward to today and I love Crossfit Glendale more and more every day. It is so much more than a gym to me. The support that I receive from the coaches and the rest of the members is indescribable. I love that my husband is also a member and we are doing this together. When you join crossfit Glendale you are no longer alone in your fitness journey. The coaches know your strengths and weaknesses. Those moments when I start doubting myself and think no one notices coach Joel and the rest of the class is there encouraging me and giving me the extra push I sometimes need to complete a workout. When I get frustrated and start to lose my patience like I did while working on cleans this week Oren was there to help me calm down and get focused. The coaches see everything. They are there to help and everyone is very approachable. I love the crossfit Glendale community and the friendships I have made. Everyday I feel challenged and the workouts are always fresh and new. Crossfit Glendale is amazing. I joined with my husband back in May and it has been life changing so far. It doesn't matter if you are "in shape" "out of shape" want to lose weight, gain weight, tone up, etc. this place is for you. Don't be scared by the CrossFit myths that are out there. If you are a woman, you won't start to look like the incredible hulk....there are ladies in this gym that have ridiculous(in a good way) slim figures who can lift more weight over their heads then most men. Every single workout can be scaled to your ability level. Come in for one of the free intro classes offered on Saturdays and Sundays. Then try an actual class, and I promise if you give it 100% you will love it. The Trainers: Oren and Al are the owners/trainers and are amazing. They are patient, incredibly knowlegeable and friendly. Al welcomes me every time I walk in, ensures that I am performing the exercises properly during my workouts and makes sure to give me a "pound" every time I finish a difficult workout. Oren answers every single one of my ridiculous questions about my form, how much weight I should be lifting, why my muscles are sore, etc. etc. He does it with a smile and never brushes me off. He gives me advice on how to be stronger, better, and faster. I have NEVER felt pushed to do anything unsafe or that could possibly cause injury. If anything, Oren and Al encourage you to use no weight or minimal weight on certain exercises until you have perfect form. It is not uncommon for me to feel like I just had a session with a personal trainer after a class. They are that good. The Workouts: Yes the workouts are challenging. However if you give it 100% effort you will be fine. Like I said earlier, if you can't yet perform a certain part of a workout, it can be scaled to fit your ability level. Everyone is super encouraging, and it doesn't matter if you come in first or last (i've been last many, many times) as long as you try to the best of your ability. It's a great sense of pride to finish something so difficult. Results: My husband has lost over 30 pounds since starting Crossfit. I've toned up and just generally feel better, physically and mentally. I look forward to the workouts and the welcoming vibe at the box. I cannot tell you how much this place and these coaches changed my life in a short amount of time. Oren is an incredible educator who truly cares about every single beginner and athlete that walks into the box. He takes his time, he shows you exactly what to do, how to do it, and his team is the best of the best. Catherine, Amanda, and Dennis are motivating, inspiring coaches who push you to be a better athlete every single time you workout.
