After visiting Devils brewery and the Amalga distillery (both worth a visit, btw), we took a peek on Trip Advisor for nearby activities and this showed up. It was a short block and a half from the distillery, so we walked there. The door was locked, but we called the number on the door and the owner was happy to drive from her home and meet us. I was the only person in our group of 4 that had previous experience with an escape room, so she suggested we do Espionage 1. She clearly explained how the game would work and even went upstairs to the bar to order us some drinks to enjoy during our one-hour game. Everyone in our group was able to contribute to the clue-solving and it was a challenging room. We had to ask for several clues along the way and were able to earn some additional clues by doing silly tasks that were fun. Overall, it was a completely entertaining and fun way to spend an hour with friends. If you're done shopping the touristy shops and are looking for a fun off-the-beaten-path experience, I highly recommend this place!!!!!

It was a beautiful morning! We immediately headed to the loop trail. We appeared to be the only ones there for at least an hour as we walked to various observation decks. We made it to the 3rd one before deciding not to make the climb up to Father Brown's Cross. I think we could have done it, but the trail started getting a bit more rugged as it made that turn upward. I could see the cross, but as I was saying earlier... we were the only ones up in that wilderness. I was concerned about what we may find. Lol! The views at each observation deck were stunning. The air is so fresh up there. We saw all kinds of birds flying around. I did see a family of Robins. I'd never seen one before, and they are bigger than I thought. Of course, there was the occasional Bald Eagle sighting. They are all over Alaska in their natural habitat. There are trails for all different hiking levels. I did see a sign for a trail that leads you down the mountain to Basin Road. So, you don't necessarily have to take the tram to get there. It advises that you wear hiking boots and bring plenty of water because it's a difficult trail. There were many obstacles along the loop trail such as large tree roots and very high stairs that were built in to get you through the steeper parts. There are some beautifully carved totem polls as well, and signs warning of poisonous plants. It's a great family adventure. I learned a lot along the way. It's a must for anyone who loves nature.

We booked an 8 hour salmon and halibut fishing excursion and…read moreasked if they could find 1 or 2 more people to go out with us on the date of our tour so that the price would go down a bit since originally we only had 3 people. Captain Mike found us one other person to go which dropped our prices by around $20/PERSON. They were a little late starting the day because they had to pick up the other passenger from his cruise ship. Captain Mike said not to worry because they would keep us out longer to compensate for the lost time, which he did. Once we arrived at the first fishing spot, Captain David gave us a brief but thorough tutorial on how to reel in the big fish without hurting ourselves (backs) and tiring yourself out since we would be reeling from depths of 250-300 feet. This info was more valuable than I can tell you!! We went to 6 or 7 halibut fishing spots in the AM, then fished for salmon in the afternoon. We had a good catch overall for the day. Captain David event called out to his whale watching friends to find out if there were any whales to see that day. He took us over to where we might find them, but they were not around. He then took us to see some local sea lions up close and bald eagles in their natural habitat along the water. I appreciate the extra effort! When we got back to the dock, Jack gave us a masterclass on cleaning and filleting the halibut, rock fish, and cod we wanted to take with us to eat for dinner. He then gutted and beheaded the rest of the fish so they would be lighter for processing by the pound. Big Jim's suggested a fairly priced processing plant that froze our freshly caught fish and shipped it directly to our homes. --We had a great experience with Big Jim's Charters and will definitely book them when we return to Juneau and tell all of our friends to do the same! Twin Lakes Kids Playground - Juneau, AK…read more While spending the day in Juneau off our cruise ship, we needed a place where the kids could burn off some energy -- and Twin Lakes Kids Playground was a perfect choice. Tucked right by the lakeside, this playground was a pleasant surprise. The park was very clean and clearly well-maintained, with a wide variety of equipment to keep little ones busy. The kids especially loved the rock climbing wall and the swing-glider -- but there were plenty of other engaging activities for different age levels. From climbing structures to creative play areas, they had more than enough to explore. It was a great change of pace from sightseeing and a chance for the kids to just be kids. Highly recommend this spot if you're in Juneau with young ones and need a break from the usual tourist stops!

I cannot believe it but since writing my review, it has gotten even mo betta. They have totally rebuilt their lodge and nearly all of their cabins. They have a beautiful dining area and decking all around. They have a new utility/changing room where they check you in and outfit you with your rain gear. The dining experience continues to be truly outstanding with Chef Kenny designing, preparing and presenting incredible meals that rival dining experiences of five-star restaurants. Fishing continues to be outstanding with expert guides who put you on the fish. The best and most noteworthy attribute continues to be their wonderful hospitality.
