I can't express how much I appreciate their coaching. Jason is so knowledgeable and I am looking forward to doing the nutrition part now that I'm finishing up with the detox. Pong is the best personal trainer he pushes me when I want to quit. He's always making sure that I have the correct form. I highly recommend this gym.

In a word, CrossFit Eden Prairie is AMAZEBALLS…read more I was highly skeptical of CrossFit despite rave reviews from my sister, who has been CrossFitting for over two years -- first in Lincoln, NE, & then with CFEP. I was in the camp of people who had never tried CrossFit, but I was a non-believer any way. Why would I join CrossFit if I can go to LifeTime & lift weights? What about all of those health & wellness articles taking over my News Feed about the risks of contracting rhabdomyolysis from CrossFit? Or what if I go & everyone laughs at me because I can't squat more than a 33lb bar? Embarrassment might be worse than rhabdo! To all of you who also have these thoughts, I say: FEAR NOT. I'm wrapping up the nine-class on ramp this Friday, & I couldn't be more excited to officially become a part of the CFEP community. (I say that now, but after my first WOD & another 100+ burpees, I'll probably be regretting that statement.) CFEP is insanely professional & above all else it values safety. The on ramp has challenged me because many of the movements are new to me, or I'm re-learning exercises that I thought I knew correctly, but in reality I've been doing them wrong on all along. (And as a four year college athlete, that's embarrassing to admit.) Justin has been my on ramp coach & he is a rock star -- friendly, fun, & encouraging. Curt, a co-owner with his wife, makes a point to drop in & cheer for our group in between the work outs that he leads. I think that says a lot that a co-owner makes an effort to check in on his new recruits! Even as a beginner, you are made to feel like one of the family at CFEP. I highly encourage anyone who is even remotely curious about CrossFit to drop in & meet one of the CFEP coaches. They offer two FREE intro classes each week -- Tuesday at 7pm & Saturday at 11am. You have absolutely no reason not to check out CFEP! You'll be welcome with open arms :)

The CFEP trainers are well credentialed, heavily experienced, and biased towards safety, proper form, and scaling a workout to each individual so it is both challenging and safe. Trainers do not sit around talking to their friends - they are constantly monitoring everyone's performance and ensuring all gym members are using proper technique. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed, supported, and motivated in a way that's honestly hard to find at most gyms. One of the first things that stood out to me was the atmosphere. The environment is incredibly positive and energetic, but not in an intimidating way. Whether you're completely new to fitness or already experienced, you feel like you belong. The coaches and staff do an excellent job of creating a space where everyone is encouraged to push themselves while still feeling comfortable going at their own pace. The instructors are truly one of the best parts of Farrell's. They're not only knowledgeable and professional, but they're also genuinely invested in helping you succeed. They take the time to correct your form, explain movements clearly, and keep you motivated throughout the entire workout. You can tell they really care about your progress, not just physically but mentally too. The workouts themselves are intense, structured, and incredibly effective. There's a great mix of strength training, cardio, and kickboxing, which keeps things exciting and prevents it from ever feeling repetitive. Every session feels purposeful, and you leave feeling accomplished. Even on days when you don't feel like showing up, you end up being glad you did. Another thing that really makes this place special is the community. The people here are supportive, encouraging, and friendly. It's not just a gym--it feels like a team. Everyone pushes each other to do better, and there's a real sense of accountability that helps you stay consistent. That kind of environment makes a huge difference, especially if you're trying to build long-term habits. The facility itself is clean, well-organized, and equipped with everything you need. It's clear that they take pride in maintaining a high-quality space for their members. Everything runs smoothly, from scheduling to classes, which makes the overall experience stress-free. What really sets Farrell's apart, though, is how it focuses on total transformation--not just physical results, but confidence, discipline, and mindset. It's more than just working out; it's about becoming a stronger, healthier version of yourself. Overall, I would highly recommend Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping to anyone looking for a gym that offers great workouts, amazing coaching, and a supportive community. Whether your goal is to get stronger, lose weight, or just feel better, this is a place that can truly help you get there. Easily 5 stars.

With Vital Pursuit, I knew the first day it was different then anything I'd encountered. Since…read morethen, many of my ideas of fitness, and exercise... have been dissolved as misguided. On my first session I asked my trainer about a technique on doing bicep curls... and he said "it depends on whether you want to look strong, or be strong". Given that he trains pro athletes as well as me, kids, and every day people, he could have trained me for either answer... but in time I realized I wanted *neither*. Rather, I want healthy movement and capability for my physical hobbies/requirements. I want to move like a panther, rip through trees like a gorilla, and live as long as a redwood. With help from Vital Pursuit, I've found my *actual* idea of health -- and not a magazine's idea of how to achieve health. Instead of no pain no gain, and someone shouting, or "boot camping," imagine being told over and over "slower", "less weight", and "fewer workouts" and instead always targeting the "minimal effective dose"... in time what remains are intentional and therapeutic workouts that can be as difficult as my will allows on that day (most days, not a lot, but sometimes I'm in the mood to dig deep)... The sessions are filled with simple and relatively easy patterning of movements with less weight than my ego would prefer; but with corrections to subtleties of form that moves many exercises toward more full body connection - The coaching on these types of minor changes can really seem like magic. For example, I once couldn't believe that planks on finger tips would require me to tighten my core more, apparently due to the chain of muscle and fascia along that route. From my fingers to my core?! I couldn't believe it, but in this case rather than argue, I was asked to just try it. Turns out... that tension in a finger plank *does* require more core strength to support it. Try it now if you want!... and maybe also see that the way the body tissue connects is not being taught in traditional places, but it helps to have a trainer that has invested years in researching and implementing the knowledge. Occasionally, I get curious, and I do something from the past like a curl or a bench press or squat -- juuuust to see if I'm *really* getting stronger at that stuff too -- and I'm amazed at how I'm stronger at all those things than when I focused on those exercises. How? How?!!! And if I ask, "how?" my trainer will describe just how on cellular level, system level, evolutionary level, psychological level... Also my whole family trains there. My wife for running performance -- and also my kids (which he's a terrific role model for heath and exercise). What a gift to them to learn early that there are fitness experts just as there are teachers, lawyers, and doctors -- and if you happen to find those very rare gems of skill vastly different from their peers, it can save your life. I get that this testimony is a small data set, but both daughters have had great reversals in scoliosis curvatures... one can't be sure what would've been if they hadn't trained with Vital Pursuit, but my trainer was already informed about scoliosis, and then invested more time and research to help my girls. I've literally watched bones slowly move back into place that can't be explained otherwise (and is quite rare to happen for folks with spinal curvature). Big talk, I know -- and Vital Pursuit's trainer(s) doesn't usually make speeches about how different their approach and results are -- probably because that's said *all* the time in this industry. But also because my trainer is a kind, curious, humorous, and has and intense interest in helping others -- and I think he tries not to come off as over zealous. There's really no way to know until trying I suppose - and for me I knew right away, for what that's worth. Vital Pursuit has always been helpful - be it for exercise, nutrition, stress management -- he understands we bring a body *and* mind to the session, and recognizes that both can be healed by movement.

It wasn't easy at first -- Cathy's classes are vigorous, but she was able to catch my eye mid routien and show a modification if I was struggling (I've come to see that she regularly does that for others as well). Cathy's Zumba classes were just what I needed for regaining my energy and getting back in shape. I added her BodyFit classes which have help me add strength and muscle. In a little over a year I had lost 25 pounds by going to Cathy's studio and watching what I ate. Yes, my hair has grown back too....but I don't think Zumba had anything to do with that (tho Cathy did give me a lovely sweat band on my first day that doubled as a head scarf). CM's is a small studio but interestingly they are the first to offer many new exercise formats -- I go to Pound, PiYo, and MixFit when I have the time. The things that stand out to me about the studio is Cathy's strong background in fitness in general, her amazing energy and the friendliness and support of those taking classes. I had wonderful doctors and nurses getting me through cancer but it has been CM's Fitness where I have re-claimed my health.
