Crossroads motto...It's a place for people who have given up on church, but not given up on God. If you are interested in going to church, but don't want the pressure of being put on the spot, this is the place for you. The church is almost arena-like in seating, and dark, as to make you feel more at ease. Pastors Brian Tome and Chuck Mingo are amazing spiritual leaders. Sure, Crossroads is trendy and has huge attendances, but there's a good reason for that. It's one of the largest growing churches in the county, and the amazing things they (actually, we) do for the city and world speaks volumes to its success. I feel blessed to have connected with such a huge group, and even more proud of how they have poured their time, energy and love into my child in their youth program. Bonus if you are not an early riser on Sunday. They offer Saturday services at 4:30 and 6:15. Love that. Id give it 10 stars if I could! read more

This is the church for you if you want to sit, be anonymous and get a feel for the place, if you want to be hard core involved and volunteer or anywhere in between the two. I have been coming here for years and I feel that the church messages speaks to me and gives me plenty to think about. My in-laws are SUPER involved here at Crossroads, though I'm only an occasional guest. Therefore, consider this review as one of an outsider. Okay, this place is HUGE! Like, bigger than a movie theater. However, they really try to make it feel homier than it looks. There will be people smiling and holding the door for you upon entry. There are free coffee and soft drink stations, so you have something when you get parched in the service. You can stop by the info desk to just find out what's going on that weekend, or to pick up a free bible. You can stop by a kiosk in the back (by the bathrooms) to request free copies of any services that you've missed. There's a great play area for kids in the opposite corner. When you head in to the auditorium for the service (also huge!), there will be some original music for praise and worship songs. You won't know the words, but they'll be projected on a giant screen for you. Can't sing? No worries - the music is so loud, your neighbor won't be able to hear you anyway. The messages are typically thoughtful and relevant for daily life. The main guy, Brian, likes to throw people for loops. As Angela mentions, he's cracked a beer on stage, and I remember a time when he used a funny euphemism for a penis. He likes to challenge you, but it's also a place where it's okay to come as you are. What you wear doesn't matter. Diversity of belief is encouraged. My husband started attending Oakley Crossroads for several years even though we live in NKY its close, he would ask me to come I just wasn't ready, so one Sunday I came along to spend time with him and to experience it for myself. I have only one regret....that I wish I had attended sooner Such great passionate, kind, knowledgeable Pastors Brian and Chuck, I so enjoy what they each have to share because each message is unique. They interpute the word of God in an easy to understand non intimating way with a splash of humor, their messages of Hope, Inspiration, Giving back and sharing their personal Life Experiences, helping guide people in all aspects of life, I enjoy the diversity in their personalities, they add so much passion into everything they say and do. Thank you to the staff and volunteers who serve from the parking lot helpers, welcoming door greeters, the cleaning committee, the coffee team, band, stage production team, child care staff, the welcome/information booth individuals, etc. everyone is full of joy and smiling, eager to assist and make you feel welcome and at home, but not in a.... (how do I say this) smothering or get in your personal space type of way, I don't mean that in an unkind way, I am just more introverted and this atmosphere works for me, and my husband is extroverted and it also works for him, this is why its a great church for us... Went to see the play "Awaited". It was awesome and everyone should make an effort to see this wonderful rendition of the birth of Christ. The play itself was kid and family friendly. This was my first visit to Crossroads. The church is huge, it has three levels. The greeters were very friendly and accommodating. They offered free beverages and warm cookies. I will likely make this an annual outing during the holiday season. I'd like to offer a great big thank you to Crossroads for your expression of the the real reason for the season. read more

We have found this church to be such a blessing. We are very shy among new people and so with jittery nerves my husband and I (fiance at the time) attended our first visit. We were greeted by smiles and helpfulness but neither of us felt pressure. Once we made the choice to make it our home church there were opportunities to get involved. Over the years we have raised our family in this church and our children love it as well. If you choose to be active there is a community there for you. They hold no punches and will be honest with you and the way you live your life. I love that while being open then have their convictions based in the word of God that they will not compromise on. This church will honestly give you the tools to grow as a person, a couple if you are married or in a serious relationship, and as parents. I love the KIDS CLUB section for my three kids where they bring God to them in their style and tone that they need to understand. They use words kids can understand and retain. If you are afraid of a Megachurch just volunteer once or twice and watch it shrink. Then get into a small group and watch the amount of people you are stopping to talk to grow. They have a gospel where they preach about how things in the Bible relate to your life rather then everything damning you to hell. I visited Crossroads on an assignment for a "Church in a Consumer Culture" theology class I took last semester. Crossroads is a prime example of a "Mega-Church," a church that caters to the needs and wants of its clients much like a corporation would. Crossroads is a non-denominational Christian church. The focus of the church is on applying the lessons of the Bible to everyday life and modern culture using practical examples. Crossroads is unique, the church features flat-screen televisions, and they use large projection screens to broadcast PowerPoint presentations of the scripture of the day as well as video clips. On the day we were there, the preacher showed a clip of "Dodgeball" and somehow managed to relate it to modern Christianity. As a Catholic who is used to very traditional masses, this was a shock to my system. During the service, the traditional "sign of peace," was exchanged for a "good morning" break, where patrons talked to each other for a few minutes. One of the church's huge claims to fames is the parking, which is directed by workers who resemble air traffic controllers (the church is enormous, there are thousands of patrons). The auditorium, which is where services are held, would actually make a very cool venue for any music performance, Crossroads hosts Christian bands but no other acts. Seats are actually comfortable, no pews here. Before any service, Crossroads offers free juice, coffee, and water for visitors and congregation to enjoy. At the entrance there is a table that greets new people to the church, the workers give newbies information about the church and have them "sign in." If you're thinking about visiting, dress is anything from super casual (jeans and t-shirts or shorts) to business casual and "Sunday best," so you'll fit in no matter what you show up in. read more

I was absolutely blown away by this "mega" church. The outside does not do it justice. When we got inside, we were there to see a holiday play and it was packed. I love the holiday season! Everyone had their families, there was a gingerbread village, a various selection of coffees, a cocoa cafe, a bakery with various cookies, and even a kettle corn stand. Wow. How do you review a church? I guess, like anything else. Here goes: Crossroads is the only church we visited when we moved to Cincy. I happen to have two friends on staff there, so it was kind of predestined (that's a very little theological humor, there) that we go there. That said, had we not liked it, we would have moved on. I was kind of surprised actually--I really don't like mega-churches...I don't even like kind of big churches...but Crossroads has got some really amazing things going on there. Let's do an overview: as previously stated--it's HUGE. It's in a warehouse-type building (though a nicely-decorated one). There aren't any crosses or stained-glass anywhere. Like another reviewer, I actually like that kind of stuff, and miss it, because it has good symbolism and connotations to me. BUT--Crossroads isn't actually FOR people like me. To use a marketing term, I'm not their demo. Crossroads was conceived as a place for people to bring their friends who are spiritually seeking...people who have given up on church but are still open to hearing about God. People who probably have some negative connotations with crosses and stained glass. In fact, I don't know the exact statistics but I've been told by a staff member that there are a much higher percentage of non-Christians who go there, than Christians. Once I heard that, then all the things that seemed big and unwieldy and even a little weird all made sense--they are just trying to make folks who don't like church feel comfortable and at home. Hence, free coffee and soda, and open building hours, etc. But while all this hospitality is going on, they are doing some fantastic things in the community and worldwide. They have a specific commitment to health care in South Africa, rescuing girls out of sex slavery in India, and then several initiatives here in Cincinnati (just to name a few). The amount of people they feed in the Thanksgiving food drive is staggering. They also have a phenomenal way with production--their music, stage sets, video and live performance production quality is amazing. I really appreciate it because during my years in church with sub-par production, I kept thinking, "I could keep my thoughts on God more if we all just sat here quietly and didn't pretend we could act/sing/dance/etc." So--it's a different type of church--you have to figure out if that's a good thing for you or not. read more

I have visited this church a few times just to enjoy the music and listen to a good message. I typically put something in the offering bag as it goes by. Unfortunately today the lead pastor Brian told those of us with a laid back attitude that we should not come back because he only wants people who are "all in". In the context of his message that means paying 10 percent of your income plus an additional pledge. Lest anyone would think he had merely overstated his case he stressed "I meant every word I said". This is so ironic because the capital campaign Brian is raising money for is so they can pave additional parking lot to reduce inconvenience to any people who might be park out on gravel. In other words we don't want you to have to hoof an extra few steps on rock but we are perfectly comfortable dictating that you give us 10 percent plus or give up your seat. Jesus is nothing like this. He is a giver and does not draw a line like the senior pastor and say it is time to pay dues or leave. He said he came to serve and not to be served. read more

Love this place! Messages current and relevant -- challenging me to grow every week. They do lots of positive work all over the city and world. After searching for many years for a church that demonstrates a loving christian community, I have finally found Crossroads. It's a church that accepts everyone where they are in life, but doesn't water down biblical truth. I've never met so many genuine Christians in a church before, lol! Those who attend Crossroads are from all walks of life, ethnically and culturally diverse and span the generational gaps. I see regular, ordinary people...who love and serve God and His people...not just in Cincinnati...but throughout the WORLD. At Crossroads, believers aren't compromising Christianity by being legalistic about biblical truth. Humbly imperfect, yet open to the power of rebirth, I see dedication and commitment among this vast population. After having been a part of a plethora of denominational and non denominational establishments, I see that the difference here is actively loving one another. The energy when I first walked into the West Side location was CHARGED with unexplainable joy, peace and family unity. These ordinary men and women have done the extraordinary and are flipping Cincinnati upside down. This is what my heart has longed for...the church written about in "Acts." God's blessings simply abound. He pairs a talent with a ministry. There is purpose in life when we find that reason for living and allow our dreams to take flight with the Holy Spirit! This is the most unique church you will ever attend. I have had the pleasure of attending for 11 years and it was the first church that ever spoke to me in my language- and connected teachings to the real world (think showing video clips from current viral videos, or having a church service on superbowl sunday). I found this church after doing a google search for top sermon podcasts. All I can say is 'WOW!" Senior pastor Brian is an amazing speaker. He is so passionate and he really speaks from the heart. It's not easy to find a pastor that is straight forward and doesn't try to sugar coat things. I just starting watching the podcasts (crossroads video) about a week ago and what perfect timing. I spent a lot of years studying religion and looking for faith. I found Christ on my own, and then spent several years wandering in search of a home. I must have gone to thirty churches before I came to Crossroads. In fact, I deliberately avoided it because it "wasn't convenient" and was a mega-church that reminded me (without ever going in) too much of the Joel Osteen mega-churches that I despise. And then some friends finally, after over a year of casually inviting me and telling me how much they loved it just enough to not be pushy, got me to go with them. I've been there almost every week since, missing only because of illness. I don't need to go, I don't feel like it is a requirement, a duty, etc. I can't WAIT until the next week. In fact, I've gotten involved with small groups and community groups, and a couple of times I've just gone over to read in the lobby during the week. Hey, if they're going to offer a place to relax where I can read and have free coffee, why not?! Here's the thing about Crossroads.... You don't have to do anything. You don't have to believe, you don't have to go to the sermon, you don't have to talk to anyone, you don't have to dress up, you are free to do whatever you'd like and believe what you want. You're still welcome there. I've seen Catholic Priests, folks I know are Jewish, and even some agnostics have been in a community group class with me. Every week they make a point of making sure everyone who comes is welcomed. They even make a point of saying that if you're new the collection isn't for you, let it pass by. They even do it in such a way as to make you feel like not only are you allowed to let it pass by, they almost prefer that you don't give until you "buy in" to what the church is about. If you want to slip in and sit in the back without being noticed and leave early or as soon as everything is over, you can. If you want to meet other people, there is ample opportunity to do so. I knew what I was getting myself into coming to crossroads and I can't be upset with the things I've seen and experienced in such a short time attending services. Having a preschooler who is shy and likes stability and dosent do well with frequent changes some days he does not like going because I'll be a new or different class and different faces. I would be scared to. It's just too much sometimes but I guess it's alright. read more
