I was openly welcomed to join the choir and met my first pastor who is a Monsignor. this priest was a welcome breath of fresh air. I read the attached review from someone from Mesa that was written in the year 2014, it does not even compare with the parish of 2024. Perhaps the reviewer was basing her review on one situation or occasion and did not visit again. I regret families that allow their children uncontrolled noise, but I understand that it might take a few moments for parental control to be applied.

I admit, that wasn't very Catholic of me. My husband and I have attended three Life Teen masses at 6 p.m., and I enjoy the church very much. Father Stan Nadolny is amazing. He has a joyful presence! His spirit is contagious, and he keeps the congregation engaged with his relevant homilies. The interior of the church is beautiful, and the alter is an intricate wood carving of the last supper. The only thing I don't like is the offertory candles are electric, so you donate $2 to flip a switch. I realize this is probably better for the church and the environment, but I am traditional, and like igniting my wick to flame.

This weekend I was diverted from my usual route to St. Anne's in Gilbert. Get there early if you…read morewant a good parking spot and avoid the small traffic jam into the parking lot. Like many churches in the valley, you're able to see more of the church from its parking lot than from the street. As I walked in, I was struck by two things: the silence and reverence that was occasionally pierced by the scream of a baby and the way in which your eyes are immediately drawn to the center of the sanctuary with a large painted icon of the Good Shepherd. Christ the Good Shepherd is flanked by statues of St. Anne and St. Joachim. The tabernacle is in the traditional place with sanctuary candles burning. The procession started with half of a "platoon" of altar boys. Most people kneel at the communion rail for Holy Communion. There are some EMHC but they're more of an afterthought than an integral part. One comes away with a simple take away of St. Anne's Catholic Church. That this is a crying Church, and one with a good future. As the saying goes, "IF CHILDREN ARE NOT CRYING, THE CHURCH IS DYING".

The tabernacle is still in a "prominent place but no longer occupying the traditional pride of place. The visitor's eyes are drawn to the statue of Christ above the altar table. It's hard to tell whether it's the crucified Christ, since there is no crown of thorns or pierced side on what seems to be a flaming cross. The mosaic of Christ holding St. Joseph is a novelty and has no biblical reference that I'm aware of. Other mosaics are interesting. The Mass was celebrated Ad Populum (facing the people). The Christian songs were sung by children on that particular Sunday. The servers were male and female wearing white albs. Extraordinary Eucharistic ministers assisted with the communion. We are visiting Scottsdale from Kentucky for Christmas vacation, so of course I wanted to find a…read morenearby church for Christmas Eve mass. I prayed for a church that would help us worship, celebrate Jesus' birth, and would feed our spirit. St. Bernard did just that! Every architectural aspect of the church elevates the Truth and Beauty that is our Catholic Faith. As you enter, the beauty of the church is overwhelming, so much so, that it was difficult to focus on any one area for very long. The Crucifix was breathtaking, then I noticed the Holy Spirit and God painted above it, I have never seen this before! Throughout the church, there were mosaic glass murals depicting the life of Christ, they were remarkable. Adding to this, a next level choir was singing sacred Christmas hymns...it was like a heavenly angelic choir. Fr. Fred"s homily reminded us that Jesus was present with us on this Holy night. It truly felt Providential...my heart was full! Pope Benedict once wrote "[A]rt and the Saints are the greatest apologetic for our faith... If I look at this beautiful cathedral - it is a living proclamation! It speaks to us itself, and on the basis of the cathedral's beauty, we succeed in visibly proclaiming God, Christ and all his mysteries: here they have acquired a form and look at us. All the great works of art, cathedrals - the Gothic cathedrals and the splendid Baroque churches - they are all a luminous sign of God and therefore truly a manifestation, an epiphany of God. And in Christianity it is precisely a matter of this epiphany: that God became a veiled Epiphany - he appears and is resplendent." Well done St. Bernard, well done!

That should have been the first big sign. I feel horrible for all of the people in the church being mislead and being taught things that do not follow Catholic beliefs. Please be cautious. We walked out and spoke to another priest at our usual church. What is happening here is unacceptable.
