"The fastest show on Dirt"! And this is the first race of the season this Memorial Day Weekend…read moresince last November. Hope folks still remember how to drive. When your weekend is looking like another stay at home ordinance, thus was a fun little unplanned diversion on our 520 mile trek to Atlanta. Big Mike coming over the broken PA and loud cars speeding around the dirt. Heck who knew anything like this would happen. I guess this is phase 1 or 2 of the patchwork-reopening. People are still practicing social distancing but just barely. However, I did notice that you could serve your own condiments at the concession stand. We arrived 2 hours early at 5pm but things didn't get started until after 7pm. We had a couple of cheese burgers and chicken tenders with two waters for $14. Not bad. $10pp to park and entrance fee to the speedway. This is 3/8 oval dirt track. They have bleachers but many folks brought their own chairs. We travel with ours everywhere so we did the same. Next to the wooden bleachers is grass and people were perched there as well. The track is watered down to prevent dustbowls. You should bring ear protection. We didn't this time although we could have purchased earplugs for $1 each. There were 8 different divisions with 4 cylinder to 8 cylinder and AWD and FWD cars. After sitting on a lawnmower for 3 hours I probably was half deaf anyway so the noise really didn't bother me as much, but Nicole and the little one didn't make it past the "hot laps", the introductory practice laps, which was fine by me since we'd been waiting for more than 2 hours and still had another 2.5 hours to drive to Atlanta.

It has been improved but still needs more improvements. Location; take exit 60 off Interstate 75 and go west for about 4 miles and you will see a sign on the left. You will come up on a V where you decide to either go to the right for the grand stands or go to the left for the pits or tail gate parking. I of course chose to go to the left. The concession stand in the tier parking area was fast and friendly. I used my pick up and parked in the tier parking area. Just back your truck up and pull down the tail gate to watch the race. You can see most of the track from the so called "tier parking" which is what I call pick up truck or tail gate parking. One thing they need is a bathroom facility complete with water and a sink to wash your hands and etc. I saw only one portable stall to go to the bath room on the tier parking area. The dirt track racing was very entertaining and I would come back again. John Ownbey won the late model race on a Friday night while a Chevroltet Performance sponsored event. So this was a big race with lots of cars here tonight.

I have been wanting to come to this race track for about 3 months. Finally, I got a chance to go to…read morethis race track today. I'm glad I did because I enjoyed it. It is a 1/8th mile paved drag strip. History: Opened on April 16th, 1967. Formerly Middle Tennessee Drag Strip, it also goes by the name Buffalo Valley Dragway. Features: They do have facilities here with running water where you can wash your hands. Also, they have bathrooms. They have small grandstands here but are not covered with a roof like most race tracks I have been to. They are also have a concession stand with reasonable prices. On Scene: I got to the race track about 4:40pm on a Saturday. The admission was $10 which was a pretty reasonable price. I was met my a woman who had me sign my name on Entrance sheet. Then, I drove my truck along side a fence beside the small grandstand. I had a great view of racing from my truck without having to get out which is what I wanted since it was cold outside. Great view of the race cars as you can see from the photos I took and added to this listing. The drag racing did not start until 6pm. But, once racing started, it was pretty entertaining. In summary, you have a choice of where to view the races. You can sit in the grandstands, sit in your truck or you can sit on your tailgate. However, you can also bring your own lawn chairs and set them up for your comfort. I would check their Facebook page to see when the races actually start and show up then. Gates today opened at 4 but races didn't start until 6pm. This was on their Facebook page. I thought they would have test and tune between 4 and and 6 like other race tracks I have been to. Instead it was boring during this time.

Tier parking is very popular here and seems to get full quickly. You can see the race track really good from here. It can get dusty but you can expect that from oval dirt race tracks. There are concession stands in the grandstands area as well as tier parking and pits. There are bathroom facilities in the grandstands area but not in the tier parking area. There's only portable units in tier parking. The type of race cars that race here are; late models, crate late models, sportsman, pony, thunder, and dwarfs. The night I visited Dan Tipton won the race in the late model number 12 race car. Also, Anthony White won in the crate late model division series. Ted Lowe won in the sportsman class. They also have open wheels race cars here as well as front wheel drive and even super street race car division series. The gates open in the grandstands at 5pm while tier parking and pits open around 4pm. Rules: Some of the rules at the track on no alcohol is allowed, no fighting and use trash cans on the grounds.

I entered thru the grandstands and eventually made it to the pits. I rate a race track on the following: parking, facilities, concession stands, service, and entertainment. This track passed all of these. I was able to park in an area where I could easily leave when I wanted to. No need to pay for parking across the street from the pit entrance which was charging $2. Just park at the main entrance for free and walk over to the pits from the grand stand area. This way you can walk freely wherever you want on the track with a pit pass. They had bathroom facilities in both the grandstands and pit areas. There was running water with soap and paper towels in the bathrooms. The concession stands were easily accessible and had great food with manageable lines. The food was great as I got a corn dog and a hot dog for my two visits to the concession stand. You can also get canned drinks like cokes, Sprite, mellow yellow, and mr pibb. Everyone was in a great mood including the people that work here. I had a good time walking thru the pits, talking to pit crew members and drivers, watching the cars in the pits, seeing the haulers bring in the race cars and of course watching the races. Jonathan Davenport won the late model race this Memorial Day 2016. He put on a good show with David Payne by passing him with a slide job to the lead. I was very well entertained as I saw a great race.

You go through a 45 minute training class before they turn you loose on the track. If you have never driven on a NASCAR style track, I highly recommend paying the extra money to ride with a pro for three laps before you do yours. It was an extra $99 when we went. I'm sure the prices differ by season and specials. I also highly recommend you get the insurance for $69. If you wreck the car and it's deemed your fault you will only be responsible for $1000 vs. up to $15,000. They allow your group to take photos on their phone in the pit area but offer professional photos (For An Extra Fee Of Course) before you get into the race car. They also offer a video of your driving experience. They messed my video up so I didn't get one. The things I really enjoyed was the freedom of driving a powerful car by myself. I would try to go during cooler weather if possible. It gets very hot wearing the fire proof suit over your clothes and inside a tin can with a very hot motor. The people doing the driving, training, and your radio crew were very pleasant and knew what they were doing. They make sure you understand all the rules of the track and genuinely care for your safety. You have a radio in your ear to get instructions while you drive. You cannot talk back to them but they will guide you as you make the laps. The car's are fairly nice but you can tell they have been retired from true racing. You can upgrade several times to nicer cars with better steering and more hp (For Additional Fees) It can get very expensive here! It's also not worth going through all this just to drive three laps. If you're not going to purchase at least six to ten laps. I highly recommend just riding with a pro for three laps. That is a ton of fun. You don't start to feel comfortable driving until around three laps. The things not so enjoyable were the nasty damp helmets and flame retardant suits. You definitely want to be one of the first groups out if possible. I would think for what this cost they could afford some Lysol to spray in the helmets. They all smell like a high school locker room. I also think if you purchase the larger driving packages they should throw in a few of the smaller perks. When I say everything costs extra I mean it! They even sell bottled water and Gatorade from a cooler. If you have a lot of extra money to burn and love speed, it's a great experience. I recommend having them check your driving video before you leave.

Everyone that worked with us there were really awesome. Talking with us as we stood in line. Helping us in all aspects of the drive and being patient as it was our 1st time there. The Nashville track was a great 1st track to do this I think. The layout is not too difficult. We chose to do the side by side ride along which was really cool to "race" another car on the track. We are looking to head back out and do the driving experience on our next visit! If you love NASCAR at all, this is a definite add to your bucket list.

Both are late model race car drivers and are local too. The races are on Friday or Saturday nights on the weekend. Most races are on Saturday nights but sometimes they have dirt track races on Friday nights. The cars are divided into classes which include crate late models, limited late models, steel head late models, pony, A-hobby, B-hobby and sometimes they even have special event racing like road warriors and topless late models. The admission is $12 for the grand stands if you are a race fan. Now, pit passes are $25 for all crew members, owners, drivers and etc. I sat on the grand stands in a couple places and you can view the race track pretty good as I really enjoyed it and it was very entertaining. The concession stands are easily accessible with no lines I encountered both times I visited them. They have ham burgers, hot dogs, nachos with cheese, cokes, Dr. Pepper, Sprite and even sweet tea. I had no problem finding a parking space and most importantly was able to leave the track with getting into a traffic jam. This area is what I call a "loud area" with a Drag Strip close by, a rock company nearby, and an interstate nearby too. Now just down the road is Cabelas. So check out that sporting goods store before coming here. All of this is on the same road within one mile. Just turn right leaving the track.

Me and my two sons got a burger, a Bologna burger, nachos, a water, two Poweraids and a coke for 17 bucks. Beers were Bud Light, Micelob and Yingling, 4 bucks a pop. Tall ones at that, only lighter choices though. The only problem I has was trying to find ANYWHERE on their FB page or website the policy on outside food/drink. Signs outside said no. However, MANY people people brought it in. I saw Popeyes and Sonic drinks, plenty of folks with Igloo coolers with sandwiches. So.... unsure what the deal on it it. No one checked bags or anything so I'm taking some IPAs next time. Still pay for beer to give my business, but enjoy my own beer choice. Parking is easy and free, that was a plus. Their staff is extremely friendly and polite. Helpful and seem to enjoy their job. Would you wanna go to an event where the people working were sad sacks? Me ether. FYI, if you sit in Turn 1, be prepared to eat a LOT of dust. Take some hearing protection for the bigger races and eye protection.
