Aaron Cadiz with Crowell Law Offices, by far, is the best attorney that my husband (David Payan) and I have hired to represent/assist David in having criminal charges and a GVRO dismissed. Last year, David and I were working on replacing a roof on one of our properties. David had observed a truck and a car preparing to "illegally dump" their truckful of trash right beside our property. As usually, in these situations, the individuals were homeless. David immediately climbed down from the roof and took pictures of the vehicle's license plates, in order to report them to 311. The driver of the truck proceeded to yell at David and threatened to shoot him in the head and everyone else in our home. David ignored the threats, parked his truck, climbed back on the roof and continued to work. For several minutes these homeless individuals parked in front of the house and continued to scream and threaten to "kill" David and everyone else in the home. This type of situation is a constant battle with the homeless people and not the first time that David was threatened harm. Since the city of Sacramento and Sacramento County will not protect its' citizens from harassment from the homeless and our fear of being harmed, David has been arming himself with a rifle. Never has David pointed the rifle at anyone nor has he left the property with any firearms. In this situation the driver of the truck pointed a gun at David. David raised the rifle, which was pointed down towards the roof, to show that he is armed, as well. The next day, these homeless individuals returned and had the audacity to file false police reports stating that David pointed an "assault rifle" at them. The reports were completed untrue. Nevertheless, Sacramento PD without investigating the situation issued a warrant for David's arrest. Several days later, as David was driving home, he was pulled over by Sacramento PD and arrested. That same day a search warrant was issued. Sacramento PD raided two of our properties (which are next door to each other), completely ripped apart both houses and confiscated all of David's firearms and ammunitions which were securely stored in a gun safe. David and I were keenly aware that his "2nd Amendment Constitutional Rights" were being severely violated by Sacramento PD. As our homes were being raided, I hired the first attorney that was immediately available -- Gilbert B. Vega. I paid this horrible attorney $5,000. Time marched along and nothing was being accomplished on David's case. Gilbert kept telling us, several times, that he had "Covid and wasn't able to work." If I had done my research, I would have learned that Gilbert Vega has used this excuse many times, with other clients, to avoid working on a case. After several months of trying to get this attorney to represent David, we fired Gilbert B. Vega and hired Crowell Law Offices. Hiring Crowell Law Offices was the best decision David and I made. From the beginning, Aaron Cadiz was thorough and always kept us apprised of David's situation. What an extreme blessing to be represented by Aaron who is so amazing and capable. When I got home from jail, I was still stunned from my experience. I had never been to jail, never had a DUI. I had just received a .14 BAC DUI-in placer county. A county with a reputation to uphold. i received 3 tickets with 4 moving violations, in less than 2 months. I go through these phases i guess where i cant slow down. 2 of my tickets were in Modesto, ca on scenic by the cemetery. the first was in october. speeding ticket on the way to my barber shop. ten a week later i got another 1 in the same spot. i tired to avoid the officer, and he wrote me up for speeding and a unsafe lane change. about 4 weeks later i got another ticket on highway 205 driving to work, this one for speeding. i was refered to Hendrick by my friend Joe who is a truck driver and who's job is dependent on his driving record also. the first ticket we attended court for was the speeding ticket on 205, Justin from Hendrick's office represented me for this ticket. he managed to reduce my ticket to a non moving violation. which means i pay the fine, but NO POINT! AMAZING! i don't know how he did it, but he did. i clearly was guilty but some how he made it happen. now my job and drivers lic was still on the line with the last two cases in Modesto. I retained Hendrick for my second DUI and the result was positive. I received the minimum 5 days jail time and informal probation, this is the best outcome one can ask for in a second DUI situation. In Sacramento county it is mandatory, don't sweat it, do your time and learn from your mistake. Unfortunately I did not. Shortly after my second I received my third DUI, this time included a vehicle accident. I again retained Hendrick for my case. A third DUI especially involving an accident is most always a felony. Hendrick offered good advice through the process and I was able to get myself into a treatment center. The worst part of any criminal case is the unknown, I would like to share something with anyone looking for some comfort during this difficult period in their life. Your mind is your worst enemy, the scenarios you play out in your head are often much worse than anything the world will actually throw at you. Don't mistake this for "the word is great, everything is ok". You will loose a year of your life dealing with a third DUI and it is not a fun time, however getting a good lawyer on your side is one of the best things your can do for yourself. Besides securing you a favorable result Hendrick will take care of the courtroom procedural nonsense for you. At first I thought it was odd, the continuances and not having to be in court, it is not. Mr. Crowell had been working on my case (parked DUI) for the last 2 years. During those 2 years, my family was lucky enough to grow, as I became pregnant. Never once did I have to go to court, Mr. Crowell handled everything. The judge demanded I be present at one point, but at the time I was on bed rest, and Hendrick made sure I didn't put any extra stress on my baby, by successfully using loopholes to keep me from having to attend court. He has always been very honest, not the kind of attorney who says what you want to hear so that you keep giving them money. I accused this man of taking bribes from the DA to kill cases that prove the city and state targets the mentally ill for abuse. After this, he bribes me for silence, I take the bribes so I can prove this, and then the State Bar knowing he is guilty now of bribery and corruption does nothing.
