I can say with absolute certainty that Mr. Wise doesn't overcharge his clients. I retained him to help me with reporting a criminal conduct by a government official and he charged me much less than his regular hourly fee knowing that I was a student and needed help from an experienced attorney. He is a gentleman and his demeanor makes him a very credible attorney in the legal system. He has spoken on important legal subjects and cases in some of the top news media such as Fox News and CBS News. Even a judge commended him after his closing argument in a famous trial in Sacramento. I personally watched all his interviews and was convinced that he knows his job very well. If you're looking for a bulldog, he is not the right person for you, but if you want a credible attorney with extensive knowledge about criminal law and a good reputation with judges, you should not look any further. Mr. Wise's investigator was also very professional and thorough in taking my statement and preparing the report. He had many years of experience as a detective prior to becoming a private investigator and I felt absolutely comfortable telling him the details of what had transpired in my case. I do wish Mr. Wise was more communicative and available when I needed him, however, a few schedule conflicts and the urgency of my matter didn't allow us to complete the case together. I still have very high opinion of Mr. Wise and I do want to inform his potential clients that Mr. Wise is NOT there to take your money and leave. It was the exact opposite in my case. For days now I've come to this platform endeavoring to write a review explaining just how thankful I am to Mike Wise for literally saving my life. From the start my experience with this office was a nightmare. From not showing up to the first court date to them sending someone else the second time. The only time Mike did appear for me he could not even take the time to spend one minute speaking with me about my case he said he was too busy and left. During my first initial meeting with him he told me he would get a copy of the police report right away. He never got a copy of it and never gave it to me. It took me over 3 months since the meeting with him just to get the police report. I was billed for calling to ask for it. When I became concerned and asked to meet his secretary said he was booked for weeks. Then his secretary Connie called and changed the day on me with little notice. I was given a meeting a day before my court date. I was urged by Mike to agree to a plea of a felony, 160 days on house arrest, and 5 years formal probation all over a set up domestic dispute by my Husband during our divorce in order to get custody of our kids/not have to pay child support. When I replied that I wasn't accepting a felony he said "you can take it to trial then but it will be expensive" he had not even picked up my discovery and he didn't even have key evidence for my defense that I had provided to Connie. I had to give the evidence to him again at my meeting with him, causing the meeting to go longer while he billed me because HE wasn't aware and not prepared. He had not even shown the DA my evidence, yet urged me to agree to a plea deal. Interestingly enough I was told by Mike Wise that the DA would also give me 5 years of formal probation not allowing me to drink alcohol. I was not under the influence of alcohol or anything else, had he been familiar with the case would know that. I also am nearly 40 and don't drink and haven't for over a decade. This is when I knew something was very wrong and I needed to get a new Attorney. I had just had my kidney removed, my vascular system redone from a rare vascular disease. I was hospitalized for a month and before that bedridden for a year so his comment was very off putting. I was forced to go get new legal representation with Johnny Griffin who I cannot recommend highly enough!! He's been nothing short of amazing compared to my horrible experience with Mike Wise and his staff. Attorneys that are just as "busy"can make time to call their clients back no problem. The worst part is Mike knows that he didn't take any time on my case and he knows billing me after I already hired a new Attorney is wrong. Instead of just accepting that I had to get someone else because my livelihood is at stake and just refunding me, he is obviously angry over it, or in desperate need of money. It will be interesting to see if he actually places retainers in a trust account or if the retainer is already spent and that is why he would produce a fraudulent bill like this and not be embarrassed. I will be uploading the bill to yelp shortly as proof of fraudulent billing. I was told for over a month they were too busy to refund me/give itemized bill yet he wasn't too busy to keep billing me long after my file was closed and a new attorney was retained. Not providing me with an itemized bill within 10 days is illegal. I had to pay my new attorney a large retainer to take over my case due to my horrible choice not a "Wise Choice" hiring Mike. He never picked up my discovery even 3-4 months after my case began. He bills as if he's a civil family law attorney.Billing you if you call his receptionist/call center to tell you he's on vacation. The entire billing system he conducts is outright fraud. After I retained a new attorney and my file was closed by his office,he continued to bill me for things like showing up at my court appearances long after he was fired. He billed me for picking up my file with the DA after he was fired and after he billed me for turning over my file to my new attorney. He billed emails or phone calls after my filed was closed where I repeatedly asked for a refund/itemized bill for over a month. He bills if your family member calls his receptionist which is also illegal. Bills before I even signed a fee agreement. I timed my meetings with him and they were never over 45 min yet I'm billed over an 1 1/2. Surveillance on the building shows I was not there for an hour and a half. He also billed me for my ex husbands live scan which I didn't receive. I'm taking this to the bar association where I've already defeated flim Flam attorney Terry Hunt. I represented myself and won my retainer back for fraudulent billing amongst other things. My case where I represented myself at the bar and won was presented in temp Judge school as a case example. This Sac Area specifically is known to be the center of corruption involving Attorneys. I was hoping Mike Wise had not become one of them although it looks as if he has, like I say joined the ranks of the leaches. read more

Let me please take the time to write our family experience with "Wise Law Group PC from Downtown Sacramento. One day, our family woke up to a new found horrible situation, one of my brothers had committed a VERY serious crime, my mom had turned him into the police, in which my brother (upon being arrested) confessed, and admitted to being guilty, to the police...WITHOUT A REQUEST OF A LAWYER PRESENT!!! My brother had NUMEROUS of counts... He was looking at 50 years to life in prison. My mother, (although she felt that turning him in was the right thing to do), she also wanted to hire him a lawyer to give him a fair trail. My mother then asked of me to help her find a good lawyer for my brother. (I immediately assessed that time was of the essence).... Every day that went by was crucial in my brother's case. I knew nothing about the law nor its terminology s (let alone what counts meant). I looked up most law firms in Sacramento...(all we wanted to know as a family was, what exactly could they do for my brother)..not one of them gave us reassuring answers, all they would say was "we can assure you that your brother is looking at double digits". Their fee quotes were all pretty much the same..."there is no flat rate, we start at $10,000. And depending on the case, we add on as we go". I remember one attorney said "it can run up to $50,000. Although we were willing to get in debt for my brother, we just simply could not come up with that kind of money, specially without any realistic case estimates. Within 2days of my brother being in custody, as my mother walked out of the county jail from visiting my brother... She came a cross a brochure regarding the Attorney Law of Mike Wise; she brought it home and asked me to read it. I put the brochure aside of the bed...(Our family had spoken to so many lawyers, that we were just simply hopeless). That night I couldn't sleep, I got up turned on the light and started to read that small brochure; it was such a law educating instrument!!! I did not put it down until I had finished reading it all!!! It was exactly what We had been searching (all the answers were simply there). It explained the process, the hows and the whys!!! ...(specially the WHYs one should NEVER allow a state appointed attourney to handle their case). Immediately, my mother and I went to meet with him. My first impression of Mr. Wise was very professional and respectful; and although he was very busy, he made time to see us. Mike Wise was very honest from the beginning, one of the first things he said to us was..."Do to the circumstances of the situation...(meaning a confession already being made)... He said..."I can do damage control", he laid out and explained the case very clear and honestly to us, and assured us there was enough hope for my brother. His professionalism was very comforting to us, because we could really see he takes cases very seriously, (and in turn, this was very personal for us). When a Surgeon is performing heart surgery... He is not thinking about the check he's going to get out of it, he is concentrated in saving the life of the individual... Unfortunately the younger generation of our family ended up with a separate couple of other SERIOUS criminal cases, it felt very comforting to know we could always count on the help of "the Attorney law of Mike Wise"...
