We tried all day, but couldn't get out. We decided to try to find a very close hotel to the airport, since we wanted to get up very early the next day. I am a Hilton Honors Silver member, so we decided to try the Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. It is about a 10 minute walk from the terminal and all of the walkways are indoors. This is very important because it does rain a lot in Amsterdam! We passed by the Sheraton, which is about 3 minutes closer to the terminal. We decided to keep them as a backup, in case the Hilton was full or too expensive. I went up to the desk and explained that we were unable to get out on a standby flight and told them I was a Hilton Honors member. The friendly woman working at check-in said they had rooms available. I asked for the price for the least expensive room. She quoted me a very fair price, which was such a relief. We were so tired and did not want to walk any more. We were also thrilled to hear that there was an onsite restaurant. Very convenient! This hotel appears to be very new. The design is gorgeous! We were so glad to have strong air conditioning in our room. It was the best we experienced in our entire Europe trip. The bed was super comfortable and the hotel was quiet. We slept very well. The bathroom was quite large and the shower had plenty of hot water. They were also the only European hotel we visited that had washcloths! I was very happy not to have to use one of my own that I had brought with me. The onsite restaurant had wonderful food. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there. I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat!

Then my sister introduced our family to this option. Basically, its a room and shower :rest area inside the airport where one can rest and clean up when waiting for delayed flights, cancelled flights. Or whatever without leaving the physical airport. This was a great alternative. No more needing to find a shuttle, or stressing to get back into the airport, the traffic. I hate traffic. Easy peasy, and just have to go through security and you are right at your gate. Pros: convenience, location, proximity to flight/gate incase your flight is early. Cons: an idiot was smoking when wr arrived and i was having major asthma attacks. I felt like i was dying. It was a major no no! Luckily, they went from room to room and found the culprit who was chain smoking. I literally wanted to choke the guy. Im glad we were able to find this alternative thanks to my sis. The entire plane filled with 300+ passengers were scrambling. We were lucky. Cons: if your luggage doesn't reach your destination, you have the airport that has Victoria's secrets and other options for toiletries , its just a hassle and the room is basic. My tv was broken, remote wouldn't work, and the shower was a bit questionable because water was venturing into places i was hoping it would not. Tiny, but private. Clean and quiet. I generally have high expectations, loved it and would certainly stay again. As many people lay over in Amsterdam, these tiny rooms make a lot of sense if you don't want to hotel downtown for the night. Yotel is well-kept, comfortable and with a little white noise splendid and convenient sleeping before the next departure. This is not five star, five diamond luxury but it serves its purpose well. For what it is, it gets a five star rating. Otherwise, it has more of what you might call scaled down four-star trappings. The beds do recline flat and once horizontal, voila! You're on your way to slumber before zipping off to other corners of the world. McDonald's is a quick walk, but does have operating hours. Be sure to get your order in before closing or you could go to bed hungry. As for someone who wrote that they could not find Yotel, it's easy to reach. If I may offer a little unsolicited advice though: it's always good to brush up on spatial sense.

At the airport from hometown, i sent a text to the hotel letting them know I made a mistake but I was on my way to get there. Once I got to the hotel, they told me they marked it as a no show because i missed the first day. I called Expedia, they contacted the supervisor Daniela, but she kept denying my reservation and not giving other reasonable alternatives. She only said to make a new reservation. I asked them if I can make it directly to them and they denied me (She just did not want to help). At that point tired from my long flight, I made another reservation through Expedia. Not surprisingly, because I was so tired, I made my reservation to the sister hotel so I had to go there instead. Now I got a message and they will NOT reimburse my first reservation because it was not show (despite of the fact I did texted them and they never replied) and even if I did not text them at all. At least the could have accommodated me for the other two days or even make me pay an extra fee which I am not opposed to. This was going to be my second time in the hotel. The first time was alright despite the fact there was no toilet paper and soap in the lobby bathroom and the service of the breakfast buffet was sloppy. I decided to give it a second chance since I work in hospitality and I know this hotel has potential. Sadly, this is my last time with this brand. They really scammed me. There were two sinks in our bathroom one plugged and did not empty over night. It got fixed while we were out for the day. But our keys did not work the second day and we needed to stand in line to get new ones. These are small issues that can be resolved so I would stay here again.
