Checkin is mostly computer based and you can get even yourself electronically. The design is..interesting. The hallways with the red carpets and rows of white doors are a little eerie. The rooms are highly artistic in design but we found the round glass shower in the center of the room, and the open toilet area to be wasted space and difficult to maneuver around for two people. The bed was great and huge for the overall size of the room. We also liked that the hotel came equipped with both European and American outlets. The communal space downstairs was nice with lots of places to sit or gather in. There was a restaurant, but not many gluten-free choices so we elected to order in food. Overall the convenience of the hotel for a quick layover and the design of the lobby and communal spaces are ideal. Rooms are fine, just a little functionality sacrificed for art i think.

The coffee machine delivers some really great tasting coffee. The food was delicious and worth the money. Now, let's talk about the room. The airport hotel offers what else? airport views. I can see KLM airlines right outside my window. The room is small, but clean and comfy. I was told by the front desk when checking in that the water coming out of the sink is potable. Now about the bathroom bathtub, who on earth designed those tub walls? A rock climber? An ordinary person would need a ladder just to get in and/or be extremely flexible. I'm just too short :) Location wise, this place is unbeatable. The train station is literally attached to the airport, so getting into Amsterdam city center is a breeze. And if you need a quick bite or forgot to bring some necessary items like toiletries, the terminal has plenty of local eateries and a supermarket to fill up. Only knocking off one star for the Mount Everest of bathtubs, but overall a solid place to stay that I would recommend!

Then my sister introduced our family to this option. Basically, its a room and shower :rest area inside the airport where one can rest and clean up when waiting for delayed flights, cancelled flights. Or whatever without leaving the physical airport. This was a great alternative. No more needing to find a shuttle, or stressing to get back into the airport, the traffic. I hate traffic. Easy peasy, and just have to go through security and you are right at your gate. Pros: convenience, location, proximity to flight/gate incase your flight is early. Cons: an idiot was smoking when wr arrived and i was having major asthma attacks. I felt like i was dying. It was a major no no! Luckily, they went from room to room and found the culprit who was chain smoking. I literally wanted to choke the guy. Im glad we were able to find this alternative thanks to my sis. The entire plane filled with 300+ passengers were scrambling. We were lucky. Cons: if your luggage doesn't reach your destination, you have the airport that has Victoria's secrets and other options for toiletries , its just a hassle and the room is basic. My tv was broken, remote wouldn't work, and the shower was a bit questionable because water was venturing into places i was hoping it would not. Tiny, but private. Clean and quiet. I generally have high expectations, loved it and would certainly stay again. As many people lay over in Amsterdam, these tiny rooms make a lot of sense if you don't want to hotel downtown for the night. Yotel is well-kept, comfortable and with a little white noise splendid and convenient sleeping before the next departure. This is not five star, five diamond luxury but it serves its purpose well. For what it is, it gets a five star rating. Otherwise, it has more of what you might call scaled down four-star trappings. The beds do recline flat and once horizontal, voila! You're on your way to slumber before zipping off to other corners of the world. McDonald's is a quick walk, but does have operating hours. Be sure to get your order in before closing or you could go to bed hungry. As for someone who wrote that they could not find Yotel, it's easy to reach. If I may offer a little unsolicited advice though: it's always good to brush up on spatial sense.

My hubby decided he wanted to freshen up and use the shower room for $18 or €15 per person. We couldn't even share the shower room. Anyway, they provided the towel, toiletries, hair dryer, and a clean bathroom. I like the concept of the hotel. I will definitely book a room next time before we travel especially when we have another long layover.

The only downside was the first day when we arrived, the shuttle driver skipped the stop at the airport and refused to admit he did so even though there was a group of guests waiting. When one of the other guests confronted him, he called all of us idiots for missing the bus. However, the bus was unmarked except for the one sheet of paper that was posted INSIDE the bus saying it's for the Corendon. You can't even see the paper from the outside until you've actually tried to board the bus. So that behavior was not appreciated. The plane thats at the back of the hotel was pretty cool and you can visit it for €3 a person. It's a retired KLM plane. The AYCE breakfast option isn't bad. Lots to choose from. In addition, if you need to do laundry, you can use the on-site laundry facility at the apartments side of the hotels.

The room is a nice size with two chairs and a desk like counter. The lighting in the room is not bright at all even when with the lighting above the beds is on. There were two sinks in our bathroom one plugged and did not empty over night. It got fixed while we were out for the day. But our keys did not work the second day and we needed to stand in line to get new ones. These are small issues that can be resolved so I would stay here again.

The toilet itself is really low, however the towel racks are extremely high and requires a minimum height of 175cm to reach. Staff was unhelpful and hotel understaffed. The spring mattresses in the beds were pretty uncomfortable. Overall just a terrible experience. Do not stay here
