This is a generic BUSINESS hotel, clearly not for leisure or for family vacation. I've stayed here…read moretwice in the course of a year - once with my pet - and the second time staying without a pet confirmed that there's a lack of finess and attention at this Novotel location. I love their green initiative but that cannot be the excuse for providing such rough facial tissues that feel like a softened newsprint and also the lack of any tissues in the room. Only to be found in the bathroom locked in the vanity case. While polite and friendly, insensitive front desk staff failed to offer a timely and adequate service when I mentioned the shower and tub was dirty. There was no offer to provide another room. I had to call the housekeeping directly after 2 hours of making the original report to the front desk to get someone to come to clean the tub and shower head. The housekeeper was polite and friendly, but it was awkward to have to explain what needed to be done yet again and try to rest in the room while having him clean the shower with a strong chemical. Oh, and there is no bathroom fans, which truly tells how outdated this establishment is. I understand the lack of motivation to upgrade the hotel due to its handy location and the need for a hotel for people who are visiting the area for business, but it's disappointing that it doesn't live up to its brand name Novotel, as I'd imagine many people who book this hotel would expect a higher level of service and room conditions.

The rating of 2/5 stars is based on the total service provided…read more The location is somewhat convenient in that it's located as part of North York Center so you have direct access to the food court/shops there, so if you're commuting from the TTC you can technically access it while staying inside, but that's only during the shopping center's hours. You could technically keyfob in at a later time in the day, but if you're arriving for check in and haven't received your keys you're SOL. On the outside its a short walk from Yonge Street. As for the rooms, pretty good, but I don't see the point of service requests if they're not followed. I had a pretty standard one; multiple bath towels - 6 instead of the standard 4. Upon checking in, this was clearly not followed. The lack of amenities is the major reason for the low review. People from out of town were staying here and as its a hot summer, we specifically booked this hotel due to the listed amenity of an indoor pool on both the Novotel official site and expedia. Upon checking in, we were told the pool was closed for renovations for the unforeseeable future. I informed the manager this was misleading and it looks like they corrected this, however the elevators still outline the floor for the pool and there are physical signs as well. If you're looking to use the pool summer 2024 you should look elsewhere.

The décor is modern and sophisticated. The room is large and comfortable. There's a refrigerator in the room. There is no in-room microwave, but the one in the Café Express downstairs is permitted for guests to use. The bathroom itself could use more space as the bathtub, toilet and sink are very close together, but no biggie. With hot water, good drainage and strong water pressure, I'm a happy camper. Café Express is a quick place on the ground floor between the restaurant and elevators to grab coffee and breakfast. They have Seattle's Best coffee, chai tea latte, expresso, cappuccino, hot chocolate, fruits, pastries, yogurt, snacks and sandwiches. The hotel is very close to the mall, so close that I've seen people walk back to the hotel with shopping bags. You have to drive through the Honda dealership parking lot to get to the Holiday Inn lot, which is gated. Parking is $16/day. Wifi is complimentary, albeit slow. In one of the 4th floor room at the end of the hallway, I couldn't really get wifi on my phone to connect. No complimentary breakfast, but they gave me a card for 10% off the breakfast buffet. This hotel is about 25 minutes from Pearson airport (45 min during rush hour), an easy drive down 401E. The nightly rate is pretty high (over $200/night), but it must be due to the location. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . Prior to about two years ago, I would always stay with family when I was traveling to Toronto. I then learned that the Pan Pacific (which my family calls the Old Prince) was only about five minutes from where many of my family members live. Since then, I've been staying there about 3-4 times a year, sometimes on my own and sometimes with my sister. I have found that the rooms, restaurant (Seasons), and common areas were comfortable while the staff were very helpful. I typically would get a king bed or two queens (if I was traveling with someone else), and often get an upgrade to a larger room, a balcony room, or even once for my birthday, a junior suite. There is typically an amenity dropped off (small package of three chocolates with two sparkling waters) along with daily water bottles. The beds are comfortable, and there are individual-sized shampoos and other amenities in the bathroom that get restocked as needed. While this Pan Pacific location doesn't offer complimentary breakfast for Titanium members, you can get a discount based on your status level at its restaurants. My only challenge in the rooms over my visits has been days where housekeeping is skipped for no particular reason or the blinds that sometimes fall down. Any time I have reported anything to the front desk, they have fixed it that day. The other amenities in the hotel have been useful. We often use the fitness center, only a short walk away, though there are a few machines that have been removed over the last two years though they haven't replaced them. There is also an outdoor pool, which we haven't used but have seen people using. On one occasion, we went for a walk along one of the trails, which didn't go that far. We always park a vehicle at the hotel, and as long as you have a picture of your license plate to show the staff at check-in, you can easily come in and out at your convenience for a daily rate of $20, I believe. There are also conference rooms downstairs though we haven't used them before. I used a status match and then stayed there once in order to earn a status with GHA Discovery inclusive of Pan Pacific Hotels. You can sign up with the GHA Discovery Silver status without a previous stay, and then after two visits or spending $1000 USD, you can upgrade your status to GHA Discovery Gold. The higher statuses are Platinum and Titanium. As a GHA DISCOVERY member, you'll earn up to 7% back in Discovery Dollars (D$) on every eligible purchase to be used on your next visit. Other perks for all tiers include complimentary internet, exclusive rates and offers, birthday treats, savings at spa outlets, and savings on dining bills (up to 20% off). Depending on status level, you can also get a local amenity at check-in, upgraded room experience, early check-in, late check-out, status sharing, priority room availability, and complimentary breakfast. I certainly recommend that someone in North York, Ontario looking for a hotel consider this as an option. It's certainly worth it! I also want to give recognition to Denise, Anas, and Pranav for always being so helpful.

The staff was friendly, the location is good, the price was solid, and the room was comfy and clean. Some touch points: Conveniently located near a college campus so there are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel offers parking, although we did not utilize it. We did valet check our bags the last morning after checking out so we could do some more sight-seeing prior to going to the airport - always a plus to be able to do. Breakfast is included - you receive a voucher per guest per day for the Freshii downstairs, served until 10:30AM. This was convenient and the food was good. The room was spacious, clean, and comfy. Modern/Ikea-esque decorations, TV, couch, coffee table, closet. The bed was really comfy. In-room fridge which I love! Nice bathroom, basic toiletries provided, hairdryer, and some fun post-shower slippers made from towel material. Bathrobes in the closet. Low noise level - we had good night's sleep. This was a great hotel choice and we enjoyed our stay! I would recommend the Saint James Hotel.
