Mixed feelings about this hotel... If you are just looking for a place to lay your head @ a decent price then I say go for it! If you are looking for luxury then this is not for you. Location: Great! Very convenient to Philadelphia. Very convenient to attractions and events in South Jersey. Easy access and plenty of parking! Service: The little interaction that I had with the staff was fine. They seemed nice. It was standard customer service Room: Cleanish. It wasn't totally gross, but the staff definitely didn't pay attention to details. There was a stain on the comforter(Maybe lipstick). A different small red stain on top of the sheets. They seemed clean but that's still gross. There were little papers next to the night stand, which meant they didn't vacuum thoroughly. The fridge was either held up by a little piece of cardboard, or the last occupant dropped something and the cleaning staff missed it. Also The carpet gave the room an old outdated feeling. Price: Good for under $100. It wasn't worth more. The price along with the name is what drew me here in the first place Would I stay again? Maybe. I don't know how other hotels in the area compare? I'm going to be fair and give this hotel a 3 star rating. Even though I felt the room was mostly outdated, I cannot deny that it was still clean, comfortable and quiet. I actually found the shower to be a good pressure and stream. When it comes down to it, that's the key things we look for in a room. The downsides are beyond that. Primarily it is the location. This is an odd place for a hotel. If visiting this suburb for work then it is fine. If visiting the Philly area as a tourist then the location does not work great. Attractions are across the river ($5 toll each way). The airport is not nearby. The place is kind of confusing to find so depend on the GPS. The night I was there two different weddings were going on so convention/meeting facilities are available. I did hit the bar and found it well stocked and friendly. The music played was pretty decent until someone loaded up the juke box (or whatever it's called these days). There is a restaurant in the lobby but did not try. In all it is ok if this is where you need to be. Just be sure this is where you need to be. read more

I travel a lot for both business and pleasure and have stayed at other Crowne Plaza's before however this one is very below expectations. The hotel is very dated there is a bad odor when you walk in. The rooms don't appear as though they've been updated for years and years and years. There's mold on the ceiling tiles and dirt on the light fixtures as well as pretty much anything else. The lounge was ok. The food was good and portion size is good for the price. The service was leaving a lot to be expected. Would definitely not recommend this hotel read more

The Crowne Plaza is a borderline 2.5 or 3 star hotel. It's centrally located and easy to access, with many dining and shopping options a short drive away. Plenty of parking on site, even with an event going on the lot never filled. Lobby area has an older look, mostly decorated with wood grain and crystal. Check in was easy and painless. Elevators could use an overhaul and some buttons didn't work, but remained functional throughout the weekend. Rooms look dated, starting with the 90's looking carpeting and ancient telephone. Our room did not come with a sitting chair while others did, and we could not be 100% sure our ice bucket had a lid. Unexpectedly the furniture had USB charging ports, but we could not be sure they were plugged in. Beds were comfortable enough. Bathroom has the sink outside of the shower/toilet area. Room in general had a lot of age related wear and tear. Other people in our group had serious heating, cooling, and pluming issues to deal with in there room. Crowne Plaza has a surprisingly large amount of convention space, with several larger rooms on the first floor, and smaller breakout rooms on the mezzanine (second) floor. Hotel does have an onsite restaurant, which I did not eat at. Overall, the Crowne Plaza is ok, but overdue for an overhaul. read more

I travel a lot for work, so staying at hotels is something that I have become very familiar with. I have never stayed at a Crowne Plaza before and this was my first time. I don't know if my expectations were too high but I was told great things about Crowne Plaza in general. Due to this, I was expecting this hotel to be a little bit better than your average one. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. I checked in not too long ago and am already looking at other hotels on the area to stay. Once you walk in, the lobby is extremely inviting. There is a nice coffee area that was closed, most likely due to COVID, right next to the front desk. The staff was friendly and I didn't have anything to complain about at that point. My first negative experience was the elevator. I try to go up to the top floor but I actually had to hold down the button or else the elevator wouldn't register the floor I need to go to. Upon arriving to my floor, I noticed how dim the hallways were and it wasn't inviting feeling overall. Once I walked into my room, I noticed how extremely outdated everything in it was. From the furniture to the lighting to the bed, could use an update. The sheets are extremely thin and could be from the 1970s. Not every outlet in the room works and it's not like I went and tried each one just so I can say that. I simply had to try three different outlets to get one to work. Another thing is the Wi-Fi is only seem to connect to my phone and not my other devices. For a work trip, this is outrageous. I am having to use one of my phones as a hotspot. The phone in the room isn't even from this hotel and has the wrong room number listed on it, so who knows how long that mistake has been there. I was even planning to go to the gym but as soon as I saw the quality of my room, I didn't even bother. To be fair, this is an extremely large hotel for an area that isn't so populated. Therefore, renovations for a hotel this size could be very complicated. Even though that is the case, this hotel really needs it. I didn't give it one star because I felt bad for the staff but I do hope that the management tries to do some thing to give this hotel a facelift. read more

Do not stay here. The pictures online do not match the reality of the cleanliness or state of the rooms. I am traveling for work and quickly booked a place close to the office I am visiting. Regret not planning better. Cons: Dust everywhere, moldy ceilings, peeling/bubbling wallpaper, filthy chair, shower drain clogs, some sort of...liquid spilled on the doors - see pics. The AC is full of dust. I cancelled the rest of my stay and booked at the Courtyard Marriot, suggest you do the same. Pros: pretty lobby, friendly front desk staff. read more

I have stayed here for a weekend every year. This year was so disappointing. I booked on line and expected to be able to check in on the app. This feature was not available. Even if it was, they don't have digital keys so, either way, I had to wait in a hugely long line. There were a few reps at the main desk and there were at least twenty people in line. The rep I got was also assigned to the in-house phone so he was helping me and getting irate calls from lodgers the entire time. The kind bellhops took our luggage to our room. That is when we found out that we were assigned the wrong room. I went back down and just had to cut to the front of the line to get the room corrected. The room was dark and dingy. The beds were hard as a rock. The bathroom was poorly maintained. The curved shower curtain rod was hanging like a U so the curtain was draping the floor. I am not very tall but it didn't cover me at all so I couldn't take a shower. Maintenance was contacted several times to fix it. One of the biggest issues was that the air conditioning was still on in the entire hotel. There was no heat in any of the rooms unless you requested it and waited for maintenance to come and switch your room to heat. Someone came up around ten at night and he said that our room had a different valve than the others in the hotel. Whaaattt???? Needless to say it was a cold night. The outside temperature was in the low 40s. It did get fixed for the second night. This Crowne Plaza, which is supposed to be one of the top of the brand, was awful. They claim, with a small poster in the lobby, that the property is going to be changed to a DoubleTree by Hilton in 2022. I hope Hilton knows how much work is required to restore this hotel back to an appealing place to stay. read more

This was a pretty decent hotel! So I came here over the weekend and was pretty impressed with the stay. This hotel is very spacious and conveniently located right off the highway. There is a very large parking lot that this hotel has. The room was very big, the bed was plush, room service was efficient and the view was beautiful. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is because I haven't tried any of the food however, the set up of this hotel was modern and a nice layout. Sometimes I question the Yelp star reviews for various hotels and restaurants when compared to the booking agency reviews or my own personal experience. In this case, I have stayed at this particular hotel and have always been very satisfied; I wouldn't hesitate to book it again, assuming I could get close or near the same deal I received booking through Hotwire. The hotel is clean, comfortable, free parking, free WiFi, good service at both check-in and from house keeping, plus it is perfectly situated to downtown Philly. The moral of this story/review is read between the lines of yelp reviews; check out the credibility of the reviewer over a wide swath of reviews rather than make a hasty decision that just might cost you a very good experience at an excellent price. read more

And he was condescending as he acted like I didn't know how to turn on the shower. Told him I had a video of the shower not working and the horrible mess of a room. Well once he realized I had a video that put him in his place. Already complained to IHG but they weren't too helpful. Thankfully Amex stood by me and took care of me. The divine folks at this establishment were incredibly helpful and extremely generous with their time and advice. My partner and I were displaced from our home due to a fire and were super skeptical about the experience we had to prepare ourselves for. Two weeks quickly turned into a month and when I tell you we received the upmost hospitality at this establishment it's entirely an understatement. I came here for a fancy ball held in one of the giant ballrooms downstairs. Though the event was well attended, I know the tickets were somewhere in the range of $75 and up and I'm sorry to say that the quality of the venue did not live up to the ticket price. * Our table was incorrectly set for too few people, so we waited nearly 30 minutes until new chairs were brought in. Too bad they forgot about the table settings, so that was another long wait. * The food, to be honest, was pretty terrible. Appetizers were boring crudites probably produced en masse - triangles of the blandest cheese possible and samplings of the most tasteless sliced veggies on earth. Dinner was served really late. How do you give 1/2 a Star. When you visit here, Be prepared to lower your standards. It begins with the parking lot and dirty entry rugs. The lobby is pretty as long as you don't look close at the dated furniture and poorly cleaned floors. The front desk is the only reason I could give one star...they were excellent, but then it got worse The dirty elevator reminded me to wash my hands as soon as possible as it soundly like it wasn't going to make it to my floor and my greatest fear was that I would have to touch the brass that seems to never have been cleaned . The hallway walls had peeling wallpaper, worn wood and scratch marks so my expectations were sufficiently lowered as I entered my room. The furnishings were dated and worn. The bathroom made me want to go to CVS and get cleaning products before I used it. To top it off the comforter had nasty spots on it. As a parting gift the next day the housekeeping staff started knocking an hour before check out a couple of times. This was my first and last stay at a Crowne Plaza. read more

I love companies that appreciate their frequent flyers. As a Spire member I was greeted by the beautiful Lauren, who gave me a salted caramel cookie with a hand signed envelope containing a welcome card, courtesy of sales, and informed me that I was upgraded to a club room. This gave me access to the club, where starting at 5 PM they had steak tacos, open bar, fresh fruit, and other goodies and breakfast. The room itself was excellent, with a stunning view of Philly. This is the worst Crowne Plaza in which I've ever stayed. Third rate experience from the parking lot to the restaurants to the rooms. Where to begin? It was a particularly cold with plenty of snow when I arrived for my overnight corporate event (otherwise I would have left and driven straight to Philly). I parked the car and as I walked up to the main entrance the place looked baron because it was barely plowed. The walk was iced-over and the circular drive didn't look much better. I knew this was going to be a problem. If Management didn't have the good sense to plow the drive then what of the rest of the hotel? As expected the rooms were in desperate need of renovation and the staff in desperate need for an attitude adjustment. I went up to the line to register (the IWC member line ) and I was ignored by the one staff member that had just finished checking-in a guest. He just stood there. The bartenders were very nice and equally incompetent. Granted we were a large crowed but I can't begin to tell you how long it took to get their attentions in between drink orders. They would finish serving a guest and have conversations between themselves. Lots of revenue was lost buy the hotel because of the bartenders incompetence. While this in itself may not seem as a deal breaker there's more that I'd rather not share because it pains me to remember that awful experience. Just take my word for it, go elsewhere. read more

Ahh, the charm of south jersey I recently attended a welcoming dinner for a new bishop. Not being a religious man myself, I went because I like free wine, free food, and hobnobbing. I find that so much can be learned about a person by how they treat staff. Observing simple rules of politeness is acceptable is almost ALL situations. If one is given cause to defend one's self, or ideas, so be it; but arbitrary rudeness to one's perceived subordinates is intolerable. My very first encounter with the Crowne was just this: I arrived at the time prescribed on my invitation, but the door was locked. Seeing this, a kind gentleman (presumably a bartender) opened it for me, and graciously allowed me safe passage. "Thank you kindly, good Sir." said the Urqhart. Upon taking my topcoat off, I noticed the very man who let me in being accosted by this devilish little wench with low-middle management written all over her. Her polyester clothes fit poorly, and she was unable to cover up her positively low brow, new jersey accent, while she admonished the gentleman who had just so courteously let me in to a party, to which I was invited. Much was said about this 'woman' during this exchange. So too, was much said about the Plaza Hotel. If these are the type of people and values which the the Crowne lifts up, then I certainly cannot endorse it in any way. All things being equal, everyone in your field is in the service industry. From the maids, to the bartenders, to the mid-level managers, to the top of the pecking order; All service. Reality check. The fare for dinner was pedestrian at best. Wine selection was appalling, and I couldn't get a decent martini to save my life. "Crowne" plaza hotel...to which crown do you refer? Certainly not the Crown Imperial, I presume. The hotel was reasonably clean, otherwise I would have no problem dolling out a single star to this establishment. Do look up finishing schools and tailors for your 'management'. read more

THE WORSE HOTEL ROOM I HAVE EVER STAYED IN EVER! I hardly know where to begin with this review. Let's start with Monday morning...I am in the bathroom and I go to grab the wash cloth to wipe my face and a coachroach comes flying out of the towel and bounces on the vanity. I had to pursue him to kill him and after several attempts I finally was able to smash him into the carpet. I calmly walked to the front desk and asked to have my room sprayed by an exterminator. The girl asked what happened and I told her. She then wanted to move me to another room..does she not get that where there is one of these there are another 1000 hiding somewhere else. I just wanted it sprayed. She told me she would talk to a manager. When I got back to my room, there was no note or message telling me if anything had been done. Not even a phone call from the manager aplogizing. It is now Wednesday night and nothing has been said to me to address what happen. Now let's review the room (please follow along with all of the lovely photos I have posted). The room is a mess. There is a giant bleach stain by the front door...from what I do not know. The wall paper is pealing off of the wall. Wall sockets are either hanging off with exposed wires or are totally lose. My air conditioning rumbles all night like a freight train...in fact I have to shut it off at night or I can not fall asleep. I also do not know how well it works...I have had set at 50 all day and it is still sitting on 71. The shower curtain has that sour smell. The deadbolt lock will not turn when the door is closed. A few of my towels have black dirty stains on them. The TV is from 1992 but they do have HBO. This room is completely dated and it is in need of some major renovations or even simple repairs. I also have a problem with the name of the hotel...see the word Philadelphia is included in the name...does the owner own a map? Because this hotel is clearly in New Jersey. It fooled our corporate travel who told me I was only 7 blocks from the convention center...see there is really a Crown Plaza Hotel in Philadelphia that is down there and it is not this location. This location is in New Jersey...you have to drive over a bridge and through Camden to get here. Please be aware of this if you really want to be in Philly...the bridge has a toll of $4, which goes up to $5 on July 1, 2011. Do not be fooled by the lobby...they spent a lot of money to make it look amazing when you walk in...except the contractors did not go upstairs and work on any of the rooms. I truly believe that the staff and management do not care about the guests that stay here or else someone would have taken two minutes out of there day to address my coachroach incident on Monday. Please do not stay here...if you need to stay here I saw a Holiday Inn right up the street and it looks brand new!!! read more

After reading these reviews before my stay (I could not change locations due to an event I was attending at the Crowne Plaza) I prepared for the worst. It was not nearly as awful as I feared BUT (there is a big butt!)... While the room was clean-ish (I brought my own pillow and case) and did not skeeve me out too badly, the communal restroom on the lobby level is awful. The entire foyer of the "Grand" ballroom (it ain't so grand) smelled like sewage. When we complained a commercial grade air-freshener was sprayed make it smell like... Sewage and Air Freshener. I was astounded at the number of high school proms, weddings and corporate events that are held here. The place is truly bad. No way I would book my own event here. And no WAY I would get married here. read more

This hotel is very close to Cooper River Park and was a great base for the Nationals Regatta we attended. The rooms were clean, they had a decent restaurant and fairly nice service. The snack bar was closed when you needed it to be open, their room service was very pricey and as far as I could tell, they didn't have any desserts on their in room menu? I stayed here this past Saturday night with a friend. I booked through hotels.com and it worked well. When I checked in, we were told we had a room with a queen bed. As soon as we got into the room, both of us noticed how tiny this "queen" was. We aren't close enough to cuddle all night, so we went down to the desk and asked for a room with two beds. The staff was very nice and we were quickly given a room with two "queen beds" at no extra charge. These clearly were also not queens, but it didn't matter once we had our own. The next morning, as we made our beds, my friend flipped over the duvet cover. On the tag, in huge letters, was the word "full". I'm sure the desk staff is told to say "queen" and they probably aren't aware that the beds are tiny, but keep this in mind when booking here. We decided to stay in for dinner. This decision was based on the fact that we had gotten a bit lost on the way to the hotel and got to see the lovely sights that Camden, NJ has to offer. We went down to the restaurant and both of us ordered soup and salad. The soup was fine, but the salad so wilted that neither of us ate very much. The room itself was pretty clean, but the bathroom was very outdated. I don't think it was dirty, but very old bathrooms tend to look run down. The coffee maker did not work at all. This would have annoyed me if I stayed more than one night, but I didn't mind driving to get coffee since I was leaving any way. Overall, it was an ok experience. We recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza hotel for the Monster Mania Convention. We were there for two nights, checking in on Friday and checking out on Sunday. Our first impression wasn't so great. Valet parking was an option, but my boyfriend wanted to find a parking space himself. He drove around the parking lot for literally 30 minutes looking for a space. The valet said there wasn't anything they could do. Clearly, what was happening was folks who weren't staying in the hotel were parking in the lot just for the convention. I don't think they did a great job on monitoring the lot at all. That was a very frustrating start to our stay. The room itself was very nice- clean, somewhat outdated but still nice. We didn't have any issues with the room/bed, etc. There was a refrigerator and a microwave which was nice- the mirror and sink were located outside of the bathroom /shower itself, which was kind of nice as well. We were given a complimentary beverage ticket to use at the bar- my boyfriend had a beer with it. The staff at the bar was helpful and nice- although the drinks themselves were very overpriced. We were given complimentary breakfast tickets to use in the bar/restaurant but didn't use the tickets. Daylight savings time began on Sunday- we asked if we could check out an hour later due to the time change- they were able to accommodate. Before checking out, we called the front desk and asked if someone could bring a cart up to our room so that we could load our luggage onto it. The one gentleman, yes ONE, that was working was busy and was unable to help us out. Considering this hotel is one of, if not the, largest hotel in NJ- you would think they would have more than 1 concierge working on the Sunday of a HUGE convention. We had to make multiple trips with our bags to the main lobby, asked for a cart then and was given one. Although we didn't expect someone to help us wheel the cart to our cars, it is usually offered- especially in a hotel that charges $200 a night. We weren't offered any help. If this convention wasn't being held in this hotel, we wouldn't have stayed there. Although the hotel itself was clean and we enjoyed our stay, it is clear that their customer service/parking lot needs some serious improvement. I have deducted two stars for that reason. read more

This is an example of exemplary customer service. We requested a wheelchair accessible room with wheel in tub. They reviewed my reservation the day before to ensure accuracy. A bellhop was ready to help with our bags. He verified that everything was OK before he left. The front desk staff were most helpful. The restaurant (Embers) staff helped us with our buffet food. The only downside was weak WiFi. That's the only thing that stopped me from giving them 5 stars. read more

If you want a great place to stay, DO NOT STAY AT THE CROWNE PLAZA PHILADELPHIA - CHERRY HILL. I can only guess that all InterContinental Hotels the same kind of dump. This place is a half-assed attempt to be a nice hotel. The reality of it is, the place needs new management, major upgrades and a floor to ceiling cleaning. During the course of remodeling our only bathroom, we had to stay at a hotel for 9 days. The Crowne Plaza Philadelphia/Cherry Hill Property seemed a perfect choice, it's 3 minutes from our home. First thing first, the entire property is dirty. Not only has no one moved a single piece of furniture to clean around it, dust fell on my head from the vent over the sink! I wiped part of it, took it the front desk, complained, and NOTHING. 8 DAYS later, it still was not cleaned. How about heat? No heat the first day, told the front desk, came back, no heat. Second day, told the front desk, NO HEAT. My wife repeated that we had her father, who suffers from dementia staying with us and to please fix the heat, NADA. She went down to the front desk on day 3 and lost it on them. Only then did the front desk have Engineering come and fix it. What's the most disgusting thing in a hotel room? Try dropping a hearing aid under the bed. It was so repulsive because it hadn't been cleaned in years. Told housekeeping and it was still dirty. Housekeeping did such a bang up job, they reset water glasses that CLEARLY had lipstick still on them. As for the structural integrity of the building, well, there is no door frame left in the bathroom, literally, because it rusted away. It was recently painted because you don't see the rust. Security? Oh, here's a great one, the pass key fails every day! I have to call down and have new ones brought up. On day 9, a housekeeper, that I didn't know, walked by and swiped me into the room. She didn't ask for ID, didn't confirm the room, NOTHING! SO, just stand in the hall being pissed off gets you into any room you want? Nice security. Day 9 was the day that I couldn't take it any longer. I lost it on the operations manager & the general manager. I was waiting on that passkey when housekeeping let me in. I got a shower, called down because new keys were never delivered. I once again called the front desk, requested the keys and the Manager meet me in the room. What I got was engineering with the machine to reset the card. After 9 days in this hotel, numerous complaints and not doing anything, the manager Miguel Marrero wouldn't meet me in the room. When I got downstairs, Miguel & the General Manager and I had the entire argument lobby. Instead of taking notes and resolving the issues, both morons repeatedly stated ''I didn't understand what THEY go through'. Guess what? I don't care! I pay, you provide a clean & safe room. Then the GM wanted to argue, MORE, by mumbling some remark about my attitude as I walked out the door. I walked right back in and told him again, I don't CARE. So, if this is the way you like to be treated, this is your hotel. Personally, we, as Americans, deserve better. read more

I would give this 0 reviews if I could! Booked for a wedding and they apparently ran out of king beds and could only do a double. That was fine as we are pretty easy going people. However, they said they could not give us a crib for our 11 month old baby because the crib could not fit in the room without it being a fire hazard. I was appalled. They also said this extremely rudely and the manager screamed this to us across the room yelling at us. No apology or anything. Just us being yelled at for their own mistake. We obviously needed to cancel the hotel to keep our baby safe and they took back the wedding welcome bag for the wedding we were still attending. Outrageous! The manager clearly just wants money and does not care about the safety of guests and has no customer service etiquette. I travel for work very often and have never once come across a hotel manager as rude and careless as this place. STAY AWAY read more

We came to the area for a wedding, and this was the hotel chosen for the wedding block. Reservations were painless and check in went smoothly but from there it all went downhill. A leak formed from the floors above us on our first night, and we were on the 3rd floor from the top, and it continued below us. We had water drip drip dripping through the walls in the bathroom hitting every pipe making some of the most annoying asynchronous pinging noises all morning. We came back to our room to people from maintenance poking around, and we were told it was fixed. Sadly though, this was not true. We had water running into our shower not from the shower head but from the ceiling panel. A mix of paint chips and brown, I'm hoping rusty, water flowed into our bathtub. This prevented us from being able to shower before leaving for the day. Upon checkout, when I asked about the water and leaks we had reported both days of our 2 night stay, expecting a possible discount or breakfast coupon at least, I was comforted with "if you called you won't be billed for the damages." I don't think I would ever stay here again and it makes me not want to go to any IHG hotels if this is how they treat their guests. read more

They gave us everything we asked for and then some. Original room we booked had a connecting door that didn't close well. Also, neighbor's TV was so loud we'd never be able to sleep. Maintenance came up and got us a new room, also gave us passes for 2 free drink vouchers. Went to the bar to make good on those vouchers and got immediate, friendly service. We both felt very welcome, not like we burdened staff (I've felt that way at hotel bars before). Went to bed afterwards. Bed was comfy with plenty of large pillows (not those half pillows some hotels like to give nowadays). Next morning the water pressure was sufficient in the shower, though shower heads are a little low for taller people. Not a big deal in my opinion. Towels were clean and they gave us plenty. We ordered room service that night and the food came in a reasonable amount of time. It was hot and actually quite good. Got a burger and my wife got the Cobb salad. They'll also deliver drinks which was nice. We'll definitely stay there again! read more
