It was my first time going to the location. We usually just order online and the pick it up! But yesterday because we were in the area, we decided to go there and buy some cookies! The area is not very big, the staff is very young but pretty helpful! I started watching the staff working in the back and it was interesting watching a pretty efficient team! The atmosphere was pretty happy and exciting and the majority of customers were very young too! There was a big line up but the wait was not very long! I like their cookies and I'm pretty sure we will go back there again!

I highly recommend downloading the App then place your order to be picked up. This was you miss the line ups. We came the night before at 8pm line up was out the door and only had 3 of the cookies available. So we used the app and came back in the morning to check things out. Disappointing that the app automatically picks a $7 tip at pay for when you pick up. So watch that. The location was really busy again, but service was quick. Not friendly but quick for pick up at the pick up counter. The cookies are massive. This for me is just a novelty. I probably won't come back but glad we tried it and cut them in portions to all share. I didn't mind the seemingly "under baked". When you get home you can pop it in the oven and cook it a bit more if you wanted. None of us enjoyed the peach flavour. That's definitely an awaited taste but that's why there's a variety.

Dough can be little raw in the middle, I've complained multiple times but I think that's just how they make it. It's also not really a cookie, more like a small hard puck with frosting on top. Line up moves fast and it's much less busy compared to when it originally opened in Edmonton. Flavours are constantly changing with some classics staying around. You can check their site for the weekly flavours. It's kinda pricey especially if you buy just one cookie, the price comes down to a reasonable amount if you buy 6.

Overpriced. Overhyped. Good but very sweet. Kinda like a cake cookie. Doughy centers which was off putting. Don't be fooled about the hype about this place. They gave a bunch of free cookies to influencers and basically bought their way into the dessert scene in YEG. But for $18.99 for 4 cookies. I felt ripped off. I could of bought an entire cake somewhere else. The cookies are similar to mini cakes. Same consistency, and some with frosting, others with none. I personally liked the ones with frosting. The centers of the cookie are raw, dough and undercooked. Personally i didnt like the centers of any of my cookies. I would rather have them cooked properly. And be chewy and soft instead. What a miss. For halloween we treated ourselves to this and for the price I probably would not be back until next year. The red velvet and peanut butter skor cookie were very good though. The hype for these cookies makes me not trust all the influencers that hyped this place up. It's cool we have this option, but personally not worth coming back for.

I've tried Crumbl cookies on three occasions now and I've enjoyed every single bite. The cookies are a bit pricey at just under $5 a piece but in my opinion they are worth it! The cookies are jam packed with flavour and shareable too...if you want to share. I've cut up a cookie in 6 pieces and given the little slices to my family. The chocolate cookie was so rich that my family was satisfied with the bite sized pieces. Today I ordered six key lime cookies and they were quite large! They totally tasted like key lime pie. So delicious! Perfectly flavoured! I split a cookie with my hubby and we were both satisfied with the amount we ate. The service was pretty quick when I went to the store today. Normally I see lineups outside the store but I went after lunch and was only the third person in line. They have a lot of staff and have a pretty organized system. I liked how they have your name on a TV monitor so you know when it's your turn to pick up your order. I also appreciated how they showed me the inside of my box of cookies to confirm that I was picking up the correct order. The ambiance is great. The bakery is aesthetically pleasing with the soft pink and simple decor. I loved how they had a physical display of the cookies near the cashier showing how the cookies look like. It was also helpful to see the sizes of the cookies with the model display. I knew the key lime cookies were larger than the other flavours because of the display. I will be coming back for more of their yummy cookies! I totally recommend trying out these amazing cookies!

I was a bit skeptical about this place at first because of all the hype, the lineups when it first opened, and the fact that's it's an American chain. I waited until things settled a bit and finally gave it a try. The cookies are actually really good! They are served warm, which is a nice touch (unless it's a chilled variety such as the lemon one). The maple bacon one was so good...my favourite out of the batch by far - sweet and salty at its finest. The base cookies of lots of them are simple sugar cookies, but they're really good - moist and almost cake-like. I'd even enjoy one of the cookies plain without icing. The store is neat and tidy inside with an appealing colour scheme - modern and trendy looking. The aroma inside the store definitely will trigger some drooling. Oh, and the cookie flavours change weekly! Yay! The staff all seemed pleasant and friendly. The app was a very handy way to place the order for pickup and have it all paid for ahead of time - just a click and the cookies were in my hand. The order was ready exactly when it was supposed to be, too. All in all, I was impressed. Delicious, hot cookies fresh from the oven and very efficient ordering system with a nice app. What more could you ask for?

Always a good cookie there. Great customer service and location. This is my go to when I have a sweet tooth

Finally made it to this somewhat famous store I guess for cookies I was disappointed by the fact there was only six types of cookies available to choose from wasn't gonna buy plain chocolate chip or peanut butter chocolate chip because that's just boring. When you go to stores like this you kind of expect to get something little more exotic a little more different so I only got four cookies two of them were the churro flavoured one lemon cream pie and one berry something. The lemon I had a little taste of... nothing great! The churro one underbaked it's ok but would be a lot better baked properly! I paid almost 20 bucks for four cookies I won't be going back!

Great taste & quality! Yes they're pricy for one cookie but when one cookie is the equivalent of 2-3, it makes sense. 10/10!

Also, it gives highlight to an delicious food scene, which otherwise can be overlooked because of the area of town that Chinatown is located in. I really believe in the area, and even if it is not Chinatown Dining Week, I still go there often because the food is amazing (at numerous places on 96th street), and the families who have food establishments are really friendly, and care about they do. The staff here are friendly and care about what they do, (as all of the other locations on the street), but english is not their first language, so be patient! The women here running the bakery were fantastic, but we needed to do some charades to get what we wanted. Our fruit cocktail cake was only 20 bucks (for downtown dining week, it is slightly higher regularly), which is cheaper than many Costco cakes. It was so delicious. Light and fluffy, full of fruit and delectable whipped cream. I am not a super sweet fan, but I had three pieces of cake the first night. So lovely. They also have a tonne of other baked goods that are worth checking out. You should. Check out Chinatown. Check out the food. And check out the people that are in this resilient community.

I don't think I have had something here that I didn't think was ok to good. My issue the last time was that they add the prices in their head and didn't issue a receipt. They usually use a calculator but I don't recall if they ever give a receipt from the til. This time they didn't use and charged almost $30 for baked goods, which I think was a few dollars off. My suggestion is if you go, add up the items beforehand or ask for a receipt to ensure the price charged is what it should be.

I didn't quite know what to expect walking in, if it was more of a takeout bakery style or a sit down and enjoy sandwich and chicken eatery? Well, we got to try it out and 100% more of a take out shop than anything else. Similar setup to Handy with breads and desserts displayed on the center glass counter display with a few shelves on the side acting as a mini market, the backboard had a few food food items but nothing special. The space is roomier with plenty of seating, but with a feeling of more of a concrete room as opposed to being more welcoming as Handy. We left with a few Portuguese tarts and they were cold? She didn't offer to warm them up or anything either, so my cold tarts were pretty disappointing. Though the filling did taste really good. Maybe we need to visit again on a busier peak time for some better service? Not in a rush to try this place again though.

Popular Bakery is many things - including living up to its name. It is a bakery, grocery store,…read moresandwich shop, cafe, and hang out, all in one. Located on Alberta Avenue, Popular Bakery fits well into the multicultural atmosphere of the area as a Portuguese bakery and restaurant. One of the few places where one can sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy conversation with friends (except when community coffeehouse The Carrot is open), Portuguese Bakery sells fresh baked goods, sandwiches made to order, and a few hot entree items such as Portuguese flame-grilled chicken and pork. A cooler contains a variety of beverages, both domestic and imported from Portugal, and there are a few short aisles of groceries, again, mostly Portuguese. Despite being large and spacious, tables are precious few. I can imagine this place getting very full at lunch time, and doing a mostly take-out business. I was there around four in the afternoon, and the tables were around half full, mostly with older Portuguese men and women sitting around enjoying coffee and pastries, speaking in their mother tongue. My server was Portuguese, and I really felt like I had stepped into another culture - which is exactly what I want when I am visiting an ethnic establishment. I ordered a quarter chicken meal with french fries (my other choice was rice) and a salad (which comes with the meal). I was asked if I wanted my food served regular or spicy and I opted for regular. My food was brought out to me a few minutes later, and consisted of a large plate almost overflowing with chicken, fries, and salad. The salad was a mix of vegetables in a light, almost Italian style vinagrette with a bit of a salty kick to it. The fries were average, but crispy. I thought perhaps they might make their own here, but I was wrong. The chicken, however, was the star of the show. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, the meat was infused with a tangy season mix in oil, accented with salt and garlic. The grilled flavour of the chicken came through as well. Instead of giving me an entire dark or white quarter, I had a wing, a chunk of thigh, and two chunks of white meat. I enjoyed the variety, and it also made the meal easier to eat. For dessert, I decided to try one of the many tempting treats in the bakery's showcase. An egg tart is a standard Portuguese favourite of mine and they were here, but looked rather burned. Some of the other items, such as danishes, eclairs, and other pastries looked delicious, but a bit too much to follow the meal I had. I opted for what looked like a smaller dessert - a slice of caramel pudding. As soon as my server handed me the plate, I thought my arm would drop. It was heavy for such a small slice! I also had a cup of coffee to accompany my dessert and keep me occupied as I finished reading a book. The pudding reminded me of the filling of an egg tart, very firm in texture. The caramel part was probably the light syrup at the bottom of the slice, which tasted more like a lightly burned sugar than caramel. It was good, though, and it took me a while to fork my way through it. The big disappointment of the afternoon was the coffee. It was very, very average. However, it was also inexpensive. The price for a meal is in the $7-$10 range. The sandwiches are on fresh bread or rolls and include a variety of meats. There is also soup. I plan to come here again to have more chicken and try the rice. Portuguese Bakery closes daily at 6:00 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.
