    Nutella Bingsoo
    Rose W.

This is a great place to go for a refreshing dessert during the summer. I recently ordered the Nutella Bingsoo which is one of their newest additions to their menu. It didn't disappoint and tasted like a giant Ferrero Rocher mixed with ice. One of my pet peeves of Bingsoo places is when there are no fillings/flavors after all the toppings are eaten. Snowy Village however was thankfully not like that. There were additional hazelnut filling in the middle of the dessert so I did not have to worry about just eating plain ice after all the toppings were gone. Snowy Village has improved its service and wait time since the last time I went. I remember waiting a very long time for my Bingsoo when I tried it when it first opened. The wait time is significantly better now and I definitely would go more often if the location was more ideal.

    3 for $11 - Taiyaki

I went there on a Wednesday night around 8pm thinking it wasn't going to be busy. 10 minutes later, there was a crowd. That's when you know this place is delicious Mango Bingsoo is my favourite. The mango chunks are juicy and it's a great combination with the snow and the condensed milk. A perfect dessert after dinner. Obviously it was so good that I didn't even get a chance to take a photo. The matcha cheesecake and strawberry one was ok but I'm probably biased ahha cause I loved the mango so much. Since I'm not usually a sweet tooth haha I needed something savoury to balance out. So we ordered the taiyaki as well. The pizza flavoured one is my favourite. It's like a Japanese pizza pocket wrapped into this crispy pastry. It's made right when you order as well.

I came here shortly after it opened, and saw the line snaking out the door. We heard it was over an hour wait to be seated, and we couldn't rationalize the wait at all, so we left. Fast forward a few months, and here we are. No long line up outside the door, but it was still pretty busy inside (thanks to a large table who took up 25% of the tables and chairs). This place needs to invest in more chairs, as there were 4 empty tables, but no available chairs. Fine, powdery, milk-flavored ice with your choice of toppings - fresh fruit, fresh fruit with yogurt milk, oreo, matcha, cheesecake, or Korean rice cake (which was surprisingly good - not too sweet, and different enough to be "adventurous". I thought the brown powder was brown sugar, but it isnt. I have no idea what it is, but it's not overly sweet, with a subtle nutty flavor). I was happy to see that they have a layer of flavoring in the middle of the ice as well, which ensured that you weren't eating any plain ice near the bottom of the bowl. We ordered a large bowl to be split between the two of us, but probably could have made do with a small. My cousins enjoyed the mango fresh fruit one; they said the mango was pretty sweet. My cousin who tried the matcha one said he wished the ice itself was matcha flavored, instead of just having powdered matcha on top. My sister in law really enjoyed her cheesecake bingsoo. The croissant taiyaki looks weak af - flat and limpid, and it didn't look crispy on the outside at all. It didn't look appetizing, so I didn't eat it, but the others said the pizza one wasn't bad. The golden cheesy toast is a big disappointment as well. Definitely not enough cheese, and wasn't sure what the sweet creamy sauce was, but I didn't like it on the cheese toast! Pricing is kinda steep. I spend more time in Vancouver now, so I can't really comment on shaved ice prices here, but in comparison to Vancouver, there is definitely cheaper available. Service is sloooooooooow. Free wifi available. Some free street parking available. Skip the Dishes is available here.

Snowy Village is a Korean dessert chain. Its signature dessert is the Bingsoo. Bingsoo is essentially a mountain of shaved ice soaked in milk and topped with various ingredients of your choice like fresh mango. I found the bingsoo to be flavourful. The mango bingsoo had generous portions of mango. The shaved ice had a rich and creamy taste and does not taste like the shaved ice you get in North America. A single bingsoo is big enough for two. It was delicious. The only down side was that I found the bingsoo to be a tad expensive for what it is. We also had the taiyaki with nutella which was dangerously addictive. Taiyaki is essentially a pastry (that looks like a fish) with nutella inside. Yum.

This is now my favorite place to go get a dessert. I've only tried two of the Bingsoo (Oreo and mango), but I am excited to try more. The bingsoo melts in your mouth, it has great balance between the shaved ice and the fillings and the taste is amazing. They use 100% real fruit which is a great plus. When it comes to sizes you have two options, big or small, I went with a party of 5 and we were able to share two small bingsoos. It's a little messy to eat and serve but 100% worth it, totally recommend this place.

Apparently I'm hitting up the local Korean bingsoo places for my growing fondness of this dessert. I like this location because metered parking is beside the building so the walk isn't far & it's free after 6pm and all day weekend. They also have some outdoor seating & unlike some venues, it's actually situated on an elevated level & away from pedestrian traffic, so you can people watch & have conversation without being up close to all the passerbys. Decor is cute, modern, there's a little bit of waiting area for take out near the entrance, but it is a little compact inside upon first impression. I didn't see any highchairs/boosters/change tables here. I wouldn't bring a stroller here unless I could get a table near the entrance because there's a bit of open space in that area. Menu wise, they have all sorts of bingsoo flavours with a fake food display of them to give you an idea of how it is. I wanted to try green tea or the watermelon special, but my littles have less adventurous tastes when it comes to "ice cream", so Oreo & strawberry were the choices for us. I like how you have the option of doing a half and half flavor combo though despite the added fee. Wait time for your order seems the same compared to the other bingsoo place I've been to (about 10-15min or so), only this place serves it up to your table instead of giving you a pager. They have the common sense to include additional spoons and small dish to share with your littles without having to ask. Presentation & taste wise is similar to other places, but I think the service & options here are more personable which I like and now that I know they do takeout, I'll more than likely be hitting them up for afternoon dessert when I work downtown.

Bingsoo was pretty good but the taiyaki had maybe a spoonful of Nutella inside and it was only on one end. Would come back for the bingsoo...

We had never even heard of Bingsoo before trying Snowy Village, just looking for a dessert place that was open late on Saturday. Although the cafe specializes in only one product, there are many different varieties to choose from. Was a great experience and delicious dessert. The cafe is clean and simple. We got the mango bingsoo, chocolate bingsoo and watermelon bingsoo. The desserts are light tasting and fresh. Will definitely come back to try all the other varieties.

this place is great! me and my friends went when it was not so busy, it's a nice atmosphere and delicious desserts! my personal favourites were the strawberry and nutella but next time i'm going to try the espresso and mango flavours the taiyaki was okay but there wasn't much nutella in it ‍

A great addition to the downtown area! Again, the only downfall was the wait, but it looked as if there were only two of them in the back and the place was almost full when we went. We had the chocolate bingsoo and some ginger lemon tea, both of which were amazing. The price point was a bit less than other places, too. Definitely worth a visit if you're a fan of bingsoo (or even if it's your first time)!

My favourite bingsoo in Edmonton! This place is the real deal. I came on their grand opening on 18 August. Service was a bit slow but it was well worth the wait. I ordered the seasonal special - melon bingsu to share with a friend. Slightly pricey at $20 but the portion was huge. The shaved ice was very milky with just the right amount of sweetness topped with really fresh honeydew and almonds. I also tried the red bean taiyaki and it was delicious. Can't wait to come back to try out the other flavours!

Great BingSoo! Comparing to "Let it Snow", the BingSoo here are more creamy and stronger flavour. I had a really great time with my friends.

There was a large cake, cake slices, macarons in 2 different flavours, 2 different cream puffs, and I believe a few other items. They also advertised they have bubble tea, halo halo, and various pops. Behind the counter, there were white steamed buns and the gentleman working there told us there was pork inside. There were a few trays of baked breads and also a warmed with chicken empanadas. After lunch we went back to pick up a few things. I got 2 empanadas ($1.99 each) and 2 cream puffs ($2.25 each). My friend had one of the cakes before and said it was sweet so I decided not to try any as I don't like overly sweet desserts. Later that day, I had the cream puff and it was filled with lots of fluffy cream. The chicken empanada filling reminded me of what I use when I make chicken pot pie without the liquid. For $2, there was a decent amount of chicken but it was sweet and I prefer more savoury. I heated it in the toaster oven so the outside shell would be crispy and it was flaky and warm inside. If I'm in the area, I would go back and see what else they had. It's great to support a local business and the service was friendly.

I started the meal with the Don Vito cocktail, a spirit forward sweet concoction of Cognac, Bourbon and Limoncello. Immediately felt like it set the perfect tone for dinner. The tasting menu started with four appetizers, the Arancini, Goat Ricotta Crostini, Insalata Siciliana and the Culatello. My favorite was the arancini as it was packed full of melty cheese with so much flavor. The culatello was a crowd favorite and the crostini was a great palate cleanser. For secondi we had the Truffle Gnudi and Paccheri. For people who like meaty flavors go with the paccheri, but I liked the light cheese and truffle of the gnudi. By the time the Pollo Al Mattone came around, I could only manage a mouthful of the succulent brick chicken and the fresh cabbage salad as I was so full and would need to be rolled out of the restaurant. We ended with the Chocolate Budino, which was dark, creamy and delicious. A great tasting menu at a great price, especially compared to Toronto prices!
