It's never packed with people, and it's clean. This gym has seen me through 10 years of competitions, bulking phases, early morning cardio, and later nights. However, management is piss poor. There has been a handful of times in the past month where someone forgets to open their doors on time. I'll sit in the parking lot for nearly an hour until they do open. They're not consistent and unreliable. Hours for the facility have changed time and time again. It used to be a 24 hr gym, and now they close at 6p on the weekends.

Check in at the counter is an easy scan of your card. There's a ton of treadmills, stair masters, & ellipticals towards the back. There's a dedicated stretching area in the far back on the left and a 30 minute dedicated station workout area far back middle. There's also another more open area back right. If machines are your game, there are several for various different exercises. And of course there's a few racks of free weights. If you're a black card member, there's massage chairs and a few other amenities. Overall it's a solid gym for the price and even during busy times, waiting for machines is pretty limited. Just make sure to observe the hours since they're not 24/7/365 - this location closes on Friday/Saturday/Sunday later in at night.

The staff are extremely friendly and I've never had an issue while being a patron. I will go on record there will be busy times and off times, and most of my review comes from the perspective of a 5am gym rat. The experience during peak times like 5-7pm will be substantially different. That said, Gensis has a fair amount of equipment to keep everyone happy if you don't mind working in. First off, the showers are plentiful and well stocked with towels but the pathway to the indoor pool is a bit sketchy in that you pass in view of the front door. I've never had to wait on a shower, typically between 5-7am. As for swimming laps in the winter, one might need to tailer their swim routine as people like me who can swim roughly 100 laps and then there's the elderly swim classes. The point is there are limitations. When spring-fall happens it's a bit easier b/c the outdoor pool offers more lanes. Also, the outdoor pool is great for kids who are just starting to swim. Not only do they have a slide but a gradual slope into the water allows kids to wade slowly, perfect for a teaching moment. Next, I've never tried the café so I can't speak on prices, options or anything. As far as BB courts I workout really early in the morning so I can usually shoot alone but afternoons, you'll be waiting to get on the floor. I've never been to a class for things like aerobics, yoga or anything but I have had a trainer. My trainer was a former Mr Midwest champ at light heavyweight, or something along those lines but I honestly think I was bamboozled a bit. In my ignorance I was expecting 3 or 4 sessions a week, a meal plan and several different workout options based on my desired goals. What I got was a body fat measurement via a tape measure and scale along with a musclebound dude to spot me for 3 months. No meal plan, no spreadsheet with workouts that fit me. I mean he fulfilled the spirit of the contract besides not giving me a meal plan other than "eat some berries and tuna", but not what we initially discussed. Now, I will say the greatest thing I learned was foam rolling my muscles. I will admit, I wrestled in high school and college and I've always been fit therefore I know how to workout and diet. So, for many others, they may need a little more education so be sure to emphasize that in the contract. As for workout equipment, they have plenty of stair masters, nautilus machines, free weights, treadmills and so forth to accommodate a lot of people. I think out of my 4 years there I only had an issue with someone reading a newspaper on a butterfly machine and I was doing cardio line training so I didn't want my heart rate to slow down while he was reading. Other than that, it's been very good. What I really like it the indoor track upstairs. This offers a good alternative to the treadmill and good to burn off some calories, but watch out for those people doing squat thrusts in the slow lane! In summary, I never used all the amenities offered but there are a lot. I only wanted to reference what I've taken advantage of at Genesis. I was happy with my stay there and encourage anyone who wants to improve their health to drop on by and get a free trial membership. Two thumbs almost straight up!

Everything is new and improved, and the staff is friendly and helpful. They interact with members better than any of the gyms around here. They also listen and make improvements as they go, which is pretty darn intuitive. And speaking of intuition, I happen to be hearing impaired and years ago, when I was signing my contract, they were very helpful by taking it slow, which I very much appreciated. The equipment is all brand new, so it should be great for many years to come. The pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and free weight areas are all top drawer. All in all, a great gym

They also held a special Sunday class (they are closed Sunday as they seem to be a Believers) just for those of us who lost our fitness home. I think 30 of us showed up and they didn't bat an eye. Michael and his wife Aimee are the gym owners and Michael teaches 90% of the classes. He gives feedback and alternatives on the workout and creates such a positive vibe for the gym. His believes in Community and fitness. His heart is big, he gave half of the money from the first month to the previous gym owners that we went too and the other half he is buying more equipment. This is a tough workout, for those of you looking to get into shape again, this is your place. People will cheer you on and you will be able to have modifications for any injury you may be living with. There is an app you can sign up for a few free classes on and track your workouts to show you are making strides. Now get off the couch and GO!

I've been a Genesis member for about 3.5 years, and unfortunately, the Ridgeview location in Olathe…read morehas been a consistent disappointment. The only reason I've maintained my membership is because I'm a tennis player and regularly use other Genesis locations like 110th and Merriam. Ridgeview, however, is closest to my home, so I still visit in the mornings - and nearly every visit highlights ongoing issues that have never been resolved. To be fair, the staff is actually one of the bright spots. Most of them are attentive, friendly, and genuinely seem to care about members. The few who were not up to par are no longer there. This makes the situation even more frustrating, because the front-line staff is doing their part, but the overall facility conditions don't reflect their effort. Cleanliness is a major problem. The locker rooms, showers, and steam room are consistently dirty. I've personally seen trash, hair, and even toilet paper scattered across the steam room surfaces. The showers are regularly filthy, and the hot tub is frequently in unacceptable condition - cloudy, green, and foul-smelling. On one occasion, I tested the water myself and found zero chlorine or proper chemical balance, which is frankly unacceptable for a facility that markets itself as "luxury." Even basic amenities like towels are an issue. They are often stained, worn out, and sometimes visibly tattered - not what you expect from a premium-priced club. Equipment is another major problem. On any given day, it feels like only about 60% of the machines are actually functional. Broken cardio equipment, damaged weight machines, and even unsafe conditions - like equipment missing seats but still left on the floor for use - are common. It's not just inconvenient, it's dangerous. What's most frustrating is the lack of response or accountability from leadership. I've emailed staff, spoken with management, and even reached out higher up - and nothing changes. My most recent email detailing the condition of the steam room didn't even receive a response. There was recently a promise posted throughout the gym that new equipment would be installed by the end of Fall 2025. Those signs quietly disappeared in early January, and now the explanation is that they are "waiting on new flooring." This has reportedly been the excuse for years, and at this point it's hard to take seriously. This location is marketed as a premier Genesis club, but it falls well below the standard of other gyms in the Kansas City area. Even other Genesis locations, like the 135th Street club, are significantly better maintained and updated. At the end of the day, you're paying a premium price for what should be a high-end experience - and this location simply does not deliver. If you're considering a gym in the area, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Lifetime Fitness, while more expensive, at least delivers on cleanliness, maintenance, and overall quality.

I was pressured into "discount--soon to expire pricing" for ill-conceived amenities I told them I did not need. -my bad for agreeing. Shortly after joining, equipment I needed was often broken and left as such for as long as I had been going. The AC broke and a lousy work around was put in that did not address the over heating problem. I often had to go hunting for towels, and nearly no one was cleaning their nasty sweat of of the equipment after use. I stopped going and asked to be let out due to these reasons, but of course all I got was "sorry it's policy that you have to pay an absorbent cancellation fee totaling the same the same amount as if I kept the contract. I'm not sure management has their customer in mind. I saw no one using their so called amenities, not once, I wonder why??? Perhaps it is because it is a f façade, designed to lure in customers and trick them into over paying for service. When my contract was coming to an end, they wouldn't even let me put in early notice to cancel at the end of term. No, I had to wait until a very specific day to give 30-days notice to avoids paying for extra months. Then when I called up there I was promised over the phone I would have the extra month waved, which of course was an empty promise just like everything else this place claims to offer. There are much better options out there. I encourage you to seek them out.
