Since having two babies back to back, I told my husband I wanted to join a gym. It needed to have childcare so I began my search. Pricing is very reasonable for a family of four with childcare added. When you first walk in there is a huge slide that my kids absolutely love and never get bored of. Most of the childcare workers are super nice and great with my kiddos. There are two sides to childcare and one side has a gym. I wish there was an outdoor playground but that's ok! For me, I need to be bossed around to work out so I attend the classes. My favorite instructor is definitely Ashlynn, she's great. I attend Barre class, Zumba, and sometimes a circuit class. It can get very busy at times but this is a community center! They have a toddler splash and play and a toddler indoor play event Tuesdays. For a family with young kids, this is the perfect gym.

This place is superb! The swimming pool is great and there is a court where my group plays dodgeball for free! This place is newish and so clean. Birthday parties are affordable here. I think it's like $180 flat fee for about 25-30 people to swim for 2 hours. Their locker rooms and rest rooms are very clean and roomy and well. Parking is great as there are plenty to park in the garage behind the Rec center. This whole area is growing like crazy and I have nothing but good things to say about this place! Families come here in droves as well.

The equipment is spaced out so well, and there are a TON of options. I took this pic at 6:30PM on a Thursday.

Other times I do have a membership at competitors facilities for days I don't want to drive. I couldn't tell you ONE time I have walked into Life Time and not been greeted and asked how I'm doing. I've gone at 1AM multiple times after a long work shift and had great conversations and great greetings. The staff is so passionate whether it be checking people in, signing up memberships, cleaning the locker rooms and even cleaning / re-racking the gym. This specific location is always so clean, you don't see dust anywhere. I've even been curious when I get higher doing chin-ups to look over the Yoga Sign and on top of TVs and even there, spotless! Amazing. Huge basketball courts, kids facility, and rock climbing. Nonetheless I appreciate being a member here more than just the facility but always feel like I'm welcome. Kinda like a nice neighbourhood I move into, except it's consistent, clear, and clean. I may not go as often now that it's busier as I work retail and get tired after work, but I won't even cancel my membership because I know after any long day if I really need to relax or let a weight off my should I'll visit. Maybe 2020 is my physique year, 2019 wasn't. 10/10 recommend to anyone in the area looking into joining.

You're better off not signing up and just walking in. 2. Brining guests is a complete hassle and you're charged a non refundable fee of $25 if life changes happen and you don't come with a guest that day. On several occasions I was denied guests even tho it was well before the required 24hour application to request them. On multiple occasions my requests were completely ignored and went unreported to even if they were placed 72hours in advance. I was frequently traveling to KC for work and sports only to be hassled when my wife visited from LA stating that I reached my cap for local guest passes (mind you, she lives in California full time and would visit me about once or twice a month for a weekend) 3. Steam room in women's bathroom is utterly disgusting and wasn't cleaned since I was there over a several month period, how'd I know? The dirt streaks and giant clump of hair that just remained of the floor for over 6months 4. Coming from Los Angeles and the Heimat gym where I pay $350/month, I was excited to try this gym... but this gym is clearly nothing but a wanna-be elite gym. The best part of this place is the flavored water in the women's locker room- And maybe the pools in the summer but good luck finding parking 5. Looking to bring up an issue with the staff and escalate it? Don't worry, they're happy to ignore you. Trust me, you're not gonna miss this place. Only thing it's memorable for is being complicated while trying to use its perks and over complicated. The 2 stars are for the water and the equipment. The cleaning staff is super nice tho!

Parking is also difficult to find close by with how many people go there now. The women's locker room was nice, but honestly I expected the showers to be nicer and more modern. We stopped by the cafe on the way out. I tried the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese had apples in it and had good flavor. However, the tomato soup just tasted like thick, sour, tomato paste. It was not creamy like typical tomato soup.

This has been my favorite and I specifically love this location as well. I started out coming to the Lenexa location because of my sister, and I pass a couple other OTs to come here. My first "Trial" class was pretty good. The instructor made sure I knew what I was doing, checked in with me throughout the class, and the heart rate monitor worked as it should. That didn't make it past that class. As my monitor didn't even register my name on the monitor, the instructor walked by several times as I sat there obviously not doing anything. Did she stop and check on what was wrong? Heck no. I had to go to the front desk three times to try to get it working. Now remember you must have the monitor to work out. So i sat there missing the first ten minutes of class. And having to get up and walking out of the training room repeatedly was embarrassing. And yet this "instructor " never did a damn thing. Of course the front desk didn't come into the room to see what the issue was. They just kept telling me it was fixed.. So I had to leave. Then I got an email later on with my progress report. WTF? I obviously didn't work out so what progress were you reporting on? At least I got an email from my sales rep trying to make it right. Got a phone call two mornings later from the Head "Coach" "extending a warm welcome". Like you had no clue what happened the class before? I was just another name on a list she finally got around to calling and feeding me a pre-scripted pitch. Then i got an email from the manager. If it wasn't for that email I would have quit right then . She promised to make sure everything ran smoothly the next week. Spoiler Alert? Yeah you know it didn't. My first issue was the website. I'd log in go to schedule my class and it would try to schedule a location 400 miles away. So I had to call in to book. Frustrating. I got there early to make sure they could double check the equipment. Noone made sure my monitor was working properly. What I did get was a babysitter who tried to tell me I was holding the row machine handles too tight. Once again WTF? If I can make this stupid monitor inoperable my squeezing my hands too hard then something is wrong with your equipment No matter how hard I rowed couldn't get above 34%(58 bpm) which is below a good resting heart rate(60 bpm) And since I've only recently quit smoking my resting beart rate is 80 bpm. Which means if I just sit there my monitor should register about 46%. But my babysitter convinced me it'll get better. Lol yeah. It should work from the beginning not 50, 80, 90% of the time. At the end of class I gave the front desk back the monitor. Of course I had to wait for someone to get to the desk. And of course she tried to convince me that she saw it working. Um no you didn't. Even my babysitter saw that it didn't work properly. And now it's been a whole week and I have not received another email from the manager or call from the "Head Coach". And I have yet to see a refund, which means I need to deal with them Monday or my bank to start a back charge. Both frustrating.

Two kinds of slides, interactive fountains and fenced in. -Lap Swim area - even during peak hours, they maintained a few lanes for lap swimmers. -Normal "pool" areas varying from 3ft to 6ft. -A "lillypad" challenge. Put your ego aside because the kids will kick your butt, but it's super fun. -Diving boards (low and higher - I think apx 3 m) -Aqua wall (like a rock wall) -two slides Note: What I love about the slides, they have double tubes so you can take your little one with you. This policy/allowance SAVED THE DAY -Lazy river So why is that important? Because you can keep rotating through the various activities and really enjoy a good, long time there. I'm a long time Johnson County resident and live not far from this pool. I used to bring my…read moregrandkids for years and had a membership. This is the first time I've been back in probably four years. We tried out there twilight hours for the pool, which are from 6 PM to 8 PM. It seems to be the least busiest and also it's not blazing sun, and there's more chairs to choose from with umbrellas at that time. I brought my 12 year-old granddaughter, my eight-year-old granddaughter and my six-year-old granddaughter. They had a great time in the pool, but there were several things they were disappointed by. They wanted to go down the lazy river in one of the Floaties and even though there weren't that many people they did not have very many Floaties to use. Also, they had the slide closed down that you go down with on the Floaties. They did have a good amount of lifeguards who are paying attention. I think the one negative it seemed like there were no adults on the premises, it was all teenagers. Now I will say that the teens were doing their job and we're not messing around and very attentive. But I do believe they need an adult to handle unruly people or people trying to sneak in to the pool without paying. There was a line to get in at the 6 PM twilight hours. And everyone was waiting patiently, but there was only one teenage boy at the checkout. There were three adult women in their 20s, who clearly went around the line and snuck in the side door and were bold about it. I do believe that the young man saw them and just didn't want to deal with them. When I got up to the cash register to pay, he was friendly and he asked if I was a resident of Shawnee and I said yes, and he asked to see my drivers license which I have no problem with. I think that's a good thing but it's still irritating that he knew they had snuck in and did nothing about it. I paid by Apple Pay and then I got one lifejacket for the smaller granddaughter and the other granddaughter who is a brought her own. I found a seat easily and watched the kids enjoy the water. The pool seemed clean and fresh. The bathrooms were another matter, the women's bathroom was a mess, and I tried to put my purse in a variety of lockers on the outside that did not work. I finally found one that worked with my lock that I brought so that I could swim. I enjoyed the pool as well and most people behaved themselves. There will always be some kids that they need to blow the whistle on about rules that need to be obeyed for the safety of others. And the last comment I have was, I was sitting in a chair by the lazy river, watching the grandkids go by and there were what appeared to be older teens. There were two girls and one boy. The girl punched the boy and proceeded to call him racial slurs in a negative connotation, (she was the same race). She kept hitting him and he did not hit her back and he just tried to hold her wrist to prevent it. The lifeguard clearly saw what was going on and did not blow the whistle or say "Hey, stop that or you're going to have to leave. " He clearly just turned his back on it and did not want to deal with it. The other girl was embarrassed and saw everyone looking, and she de-escalate the situation. So that was concerning to me because what if it was a larger crowd that got into an altercation around all of the children that were there. I absolutely know that the lifeguards could not handle the situation and they would have to leave their posts which then leaves the swimmers at risk. They need to definitely have an adult or several on the premises, particularly a security guard to make people think twice about their actions.
