The first time I stopped by, it was closed, but I called anyway. Eleni answered, and she couldn't have been kinder. She's hard of hearing, but she was incredibly warm, enthusiastic, and genuinely excited to open up and help me find the kinds of records I was looking for. I'm really glad I went back. The selection was great, and what stood out even more was the atmosphere. A couple of other people were there chatting, helping her out, and digging through records of their own. It felt like a true neighborhood record store where people gather because they love music. That's getting harder to find these days. If you're in the area and enjoy vinyl, it's absolutely worth a visit. Just remember to bring cash, because it's cash only. Small businesses like this deserve the support.

It's just off the T station in downtown and there are a lot of other businesses, restaurants and it's right around the corner from the library, town hall, pretty much everything you could want. There's even a small Italian groceria, Lola's Italian groceria that has great gluten free food as well as non gluten free. I honestly can't think of a better way to shop locally. It gets at least 5 stars.

BUT when you go up to the counter to purchase one without a price tag inside they look it up on discogs to check the price. Total bait and switch. Not cool and is a very shady practice. Avoid!!!!!!! This review has been a long time in coming…read more Over twenty years ago, I was friendly for several years with Rose, one of the owners, and her daughter Robin, who is still the resident "intuitive reader". I was introduced to them because I was going through a terrible time. Over a period of several years, as my life fell apart, I was repeatedly told by the people who congregated there that everything that was happening to me was due to one or more of the following: - it was something I'd agreed to before I came into this life; - we're here to "learn lessons" and I was failing to learn them; - I was "manifesting" everything that was happening to me, telling the universe it was what I wanted even if I wasn't consciously aware of it; - that God, Spirit or the universe (take your pick) was offering me what I needed, but I wasn't seeing it because I was focused only on what I wanted. In other words, my suffering was my own fault. It was standard New Age fare - puerile rationalizations and psychological counseling without training, qualifications or a license. Moreover, it was relentless, repetitive, went on for years, and I now regard it as a form of abuse. I should have walked away long before I did. When I knew them, the store was a gathering place for numerous psychics, channelers, Wiccans, card readers, energy healers, "shamanic practitioners" and other assorted people who believed they were inherently gifted or just went to a few weekend workshops and considered themselves qualified to do whatever it was they were doing. I tried various New Age healing and interventional modalities; nothing worked, not one piece of information I was given was accurate and not one prediction (from those who made them as part of their practice) came to pass. I was fed a great deal of nonsense while my life continued to spiral downward, despite everything I tried to do to help myself - and while it was spiraling, it always came back to the same thing: I was consistently told that it was all somehow my fault (although they tended to bristle at my use of the word). The people who gathered around that store epitomized the New Age ethos of blaming the victim. I complained about this on a number of occasions, and was at one point told, "It isn't an exact science; it's really like guessing." This was actually said. On another occasion, I was accused of shaking my fist at God. They practice theology the same way they practice therapy - with neither training nor qualifications, and with a belief in their ability to understand complex subjects that doesn't hold up in reality. On several occasions, I said to both Rose and Robin, "If we're here to learn lessons, and the same things keep happening to me repeatedly because I'm somehow not 'getting' those lessons, there has to be a problem with the presentation - because I'm simply not that stupid." This was invariably met with silence. I should also mention that at no point was there ever an apology. If something along the lines of, "We don't know what's going on in your life and we're sorry we can't help you" had been said, I would be much more forgiving. Instead, there was always either silence or a rationalization involving my culpability - again, it was always my fault. It was never that their foundational beliefs were wrong; that was unthinkable. I have to assume the people who post positive reviews here and on Facebook either go there solely for New Age paraphernalia and leave it at that, or if they go for some sort of "spiritual counseling" they're told what they want to hear. The only further contact occurred years after I'd ended the relationships, when I emailed one of them to express my frustration and resentment. Again, there was no apology. The reply was acrimonious, defensive, and of course, blamed me both for their failures and for my own discomfiture. As is typical within that subculture, she took no responsibility for misleading me while emphasizing *my* responsibility. I'm posting this because it's festered within me for two decades. I was given a lot of false hope at a time when I needed genuine answers, and I came out of it with a profound contempt for both the New Age belief system and the subculture that embraces it. If there is anyone else who walked away from that world disgruntled, perhaps they'll read this and realize they aren't alone. On their Facebook page, they describe their business as "a haven of nurturing and healing to those needing physical and spiritual restoration". It was anything but that for me. If you're looking for crystals, jewelry, New Age books (which I think contain nonsense but if that's what you want), Tarot cards, Native American flutes and carvings, etc. - as others have said, they have a very good selection. If you're thinking of going there for any sort of counseling or supernatural intervention (for lack of a better term) - my advice would be to steer clear. Everything these people believe is harmful and misleading inanity.

I emailed this company twice to clean a record I have, finally got a response today, the owner named Dave tells me to call him. I call him and tell him how I have this record I just received that needs a deep clean as it's very important to me and I've been looking for it for 10+ years (probably won't see another copy again) and it arrived to me dirty & figure the play could improve with a clean. He says he doesn't do one record, he does batches of nine. I told him I'm not interested in doing a batch of nine but I will pay him whatever it cost for a batch of nine or whatever just to clean this ONE record. Literally ready to pay whatever with no problem. Apparently money wasn't talking in this situation because he still doesn't care for or answer my concern or offer his service but proceeds to ask me 21 questions about my WHOLE collection (like he's trying to clean all of my records to get more money) and is more concerned with retaining me as a returning customer before I even paid a dime. He even asks me how do I clean all my records? What tools do I use? Why is that your concern? I'm calling to pay YOU for a service to clean ONE record ‍ After being annoyed & pitched all these different things for 10 minutes straight which I didn't want and kept telling him that, I proceeded to just say I'll send you nine records if you really want just so I can get this one record cleaned to which he replies now he's scared to work with me because I "sound aggressive" & he doesn't want any problems? All I was trying to do was give you money for a service That place should go under the town of Holliston! What a mess.

There at also the stores that are so packed and disorganized that you couldn't find something to get a deal on if you wanted to. Rubber Chicken Comics perfectly straddles the middle ground of those 2 examples. There are loads of boxes with .50 cent comics, $1.00 comics & $5 comics that are regularly refilled and always have people digging through them. They also have an amazing selection of gently used $5 graphic novels. Besides the boxes that all deserve time to dig though they have a clearly marked and organized section of new weekly comics, a wall of recent back issues for on going series and organized bins of older back issues. Somehow this shop also gets the best "wall books" in the area! From huge key books to rare variants, complete sets to signed books, original art sketch covers to golden age back issues. The wall is ever changing with assorted rarities at amazing prices. In addition to the comics they also have action figures (new and old), statues, vintage toys and games and other assorted collectibles. They offer weekly subscription pull list service and allow you to change on a monthly basis and give a 10-20-% discount based on the number of books on your pull list. They have bags, boards, boxes and other supplies as well. I can't recommend this shop enough there is always a great conversation or debate going on and everyone is welcome from the most seasoned collector to the newest comic fan.
