Terrible customer service on the phone. Website was down, and has been for at least weeks, so I called for honey jar pricing. He answered with "Ya?", not a great start... When I asked for pricing, his voice seemed like I was inconveniencing him. He shot off size and prices so fast I could barely understand. Prices weren't good. I don't like getting attitude from business owners, so no thanks. I'd rather pay an extra $1 a case and not deal with a rude business owner. read more

Disappointed. Bought a bee pack and the queen died. Most recent time I checked the website was down.

I bought a bee package that came with no queen. I called Crystal Bee Supply and was told I had a "tailgate " warranty. Which is no warranty. The entire package of bees died within 3 weeks with no queen. I will never buy from Crystal bee supply again. They don't stand behind their product. I will only buy from reputable local companies that produce their bees locally and not imported from southern states. If you buy from them, good luck! read more

Excellent mom and pop shop beekeeping supply store. I needed some Terramycin in a hurry, and they had it in stock. They have a ton of stuff: woodenware, gadgets, queens, clothes, books, and so on. I found the owner to be very genial and generous with his knowledge. I have an issue with European Foul Brood, and he dug out some photos to show me, and gave me some good advice. Like the other reviewer here, I am a beginning beekeeper, but I had the opposite experience of hers. He was a delight. I was tempted to give the place four stars instead of five, just because the selection is somewhat limited. For instance, I wanted to look some different honey extractors, and they had just one. But probably, if they stocked everything I was looking for or wanted to browse, they'd go out of business in short order..... In the end, I give five stars to balance out that one-star review, which really seemed completely unlike my own experience. It's a very helpful and sweet little shop. Note: They are not there 24/7. I ordered a bee package from Crystal Bee Supply and had a beyond horrible experience. Joe Gaglione, the owner, was confrontational, condescending, and, in my opinion, does not practice good beekeeping. I received a package of bees that contained a dead queen with no attendants and an empty syrup container. When I called Crystal Bee Supply to report a dead queen, I was immediately belittled by Joe Gaglione for "not attending bee school." I have been keeping bees in Boston successfully for the past five years, and even sell my honey at our local farmer's market. He claimed that I do not know anything about beekeeping since I have not attended bee school. He said that "for every one person who attends bee school, there are 100 people like you and we can't go around replacing queens for everyone." The queen was dead. Dead dead. Her death had nothing to do with sub-par beekeeping (at least on my part). This is my first negative experience with anyone in the bee community, and it is the worst experience that I have ever had interacting with any company. Ever. read more

Rude as hell. Told me all my bees were going to die at least twice in front of my 9yr old daughter. Asked where and when I went to bee school, like I was an idiot. (because he runs the one at nscc) Very condicending!! Just give me my stuff and shut up!! Only reason I went there is because he is local. Never again!!!! read more

I have only received one package from Crystal and did not have any problems. When I have purchased other items, the checks I wrote didn't get cashed for months. Plus I once paid cash for a few walk-in walk-away items to come home and see that the addition on the sales slip wasn't added correctly in their favor. Buyer beware. read more

I bought my first package of bees from crystal bee in 2016. Even after all my rookie mistakes, with Joes help I was able to turn one hive into two, and get some honey. Both hives appear very healthy and active towards the end of this winter. I've talked to others who bought bee packages for few bucks cheaper and those bees are already dead. . Crystal bee has earned my confidence. In a field where everybody seems to know "the right way", I chose to trust the decades of experience that they possess and am glad I did. They educated me about the life cycle of a bee and the ways to give a hive the best chance to prosper. Joe even came to my house and helped me with my hive. He made sure I was checking the hive properly and providing all the nutrients necessary for a strong hive. I highly recommend anyone go to Crystal Bee for their beekeeping needs. When I started out vinny was extremely helpful, showing me how to make frames and install foundation. Bee packages were great. Bees are live animals and as such there is no guarantee that they will perform the way you want them to it is all part of beekeeping. New beekeepers seem to expect that they will do what the books say they will but they rarely do, some queens won't lay, some will die it is through no fault of the supplier. I would not hesitate to buy supplies and packages from vinny and joe. read more

Weigh your package of bees...just picked up 3 3lb package of bees, I can not prove it, but they looked more like 2lbs. I called and he laughed at me, I asked him for a receipt he got from his seller so he can prove it to me, he said he doesn't have a receipt. He said that is what they shipped him...If they were 3lbs, and to save his reputation, don't you think he would have tried to prove it... read more
